Chapter 144 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

He approached her carefully so he wouldn’t startle her, but Zuri could feel his presence and suddenly stood up. Her eyes widened and she looked panic because she didn’t think Khaos would find her here.

Suddenly, she felt the need to run, run far away.

Somehow, she felt like a failure because she disappointed him again. She knew how he felt whenever she vomited like this. She knew he tried his hardest to make her stop, but right now she couldn’t.

Unfortunately for Zuri, she couldn’t outrun Khaos in this matter, he was too fast for her liking.

So, when she turned around in her attempt to get away from him, Khaos could easily grab her from behind and hug her tightly. She couldn’t escape him. He wouldn’t let her to escape him.

The lycan rested his chin on her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her waist while she cried silently, as the warmth from his body engulfed her.

Zuri felt useless, she felt like a failure. But all he said was; everything is okay. Everything will be fine.

However, for Zuri, there was nothing fine in her world. Everything was upside down, it was a mess.

[You will be fine. You will be fine.]

That was what Khaos said, he used mindlink to calm her down, to soothe her pain, even though he didn’t know what the reason of her crying.

Zuri didn’t want to tell him what Dezgar told her because there would be only two options; first, Khaos wouldn’t want her to continue taking the medicine because, of course, he needed an heir for the throne since he would resume his position as the most powerful shifter in this realm.

But the second option didn’t feel right either. Khaos wouldn’t care whether or not she could be pregnant, yet, the main problem still stood, he needed an heir to continue his legacy and then what?

Zuri didn’t want to think of what he would do about that. It would feel like the history repeated itself where she had to watch how Xaden fucking another woman right before her eyes. She didn’t mind if it was Xaden, but it was different when it came to Khaos.

The thought of it alone made her sick to her stomach. She couldn’t do that.

She had gone through that once and it was hell, she was not going to dance in the same pain anymore.

[It’s okay. It’s alright. Just listen to my voice.]

Khaos misunderstood, he thought the voices in her mind that caused her to be like this when the truth was far from this.

Still, Zuri listened to him…

Later that night, Khaos gently asked why she cried and if there was something that triggered her old habit to come back.

“You have not done it for a while, what happened?” Khaos running his fingers, combing her hair, as they laid down inside the carriage.

“Nothing.”

“We don’t keep secret, Zuri.” It was hypocrite of him to say that, but Zuri didn’t need to know. She was safe in the dark.

Yet, Zuri didn’t say anything. She didn’t want him to know. “I am tired. I want to sleep.”

And in the middle of the night, when Khaos left the carriage to have an urgent meeting or simply checked the situation around the campsite, Zuri felt someone stepped into the carriage.

But it didn’t feel right because obviously this person wasn’t Khaos.

Zuri opened her eyes and she saw this man. She knew who he was, but she didn’t think she would meet him here, let alone to have him inside the carriage.

However, before she could do anything, he covered her mouth with wet cloth and all she could feel was this strange taste on the tip of her tongue that burned her throat and confused her mind.

“Ssh,” he said. “Sleep Zuri. It will not be hurt.” He caressed her head, but Zuri could see the anger and resentment behind his eyes. He was livid. He was ready to kill her if it was necessary.

And then everything turned dark. She lost her consciousness.

Zuri felt like she was floating in the darkness, it felt like she was drowning under cold river water, but then when her senses came back slowly, she finally realized what had happened to her.

Gradually, her eyes were opened, which she didn’t know was a difficult thing to do because the darkness was trying to take her back.

And after a while, when she managed to feel her surroundings, her eyes fluttered open and the first thing she saw was that man.

The last man she saw before she closed her eyes and lost her consciousness.

He was sitting cross legged in front of her while she was lying on the makeshift bed trying to make sense of what had happened.

“What are you doing? Did you lose your mind? Do you really think you can get away from this? Khaos will kill you.”

That was what Zuri said, the first time she opened her mouth. Her throat was so dry it felt like she just ate sand but she didn’t care, she was too angry.

The realization hit her that she just being kidnapped by this man. How many times she had to be kidnapped?! This was no longer funny anymore.

Khaos really needed to evaluate the people around him and tightened the security for her.

On the other hand, Lorent didn’t seem to care what Zuri just said to him. It was a warning, it was a threat, but he didn’t care. Furry behind his eyes was palpable because there was only one thing that he wanted, it was his mate.

“Where is she?!” Lauren asked, his voice dripped with venom. He couldn’t care less about Zuri anymore because he was consumed by madness.

His mate had disappeared and he knew who the culprit was. It was Khaos, there was no other way. It would be someone else.

He wanted to kill Zuri, but she was the only leverage he had to get to chaos.

“I don’t know. What do you mean? I don’t understand. Who are you talking about?” Zuri was upset.

“You know who I am talking about?! Where is my mate?!”

“I don’t know where is your mate! If you lost her, find her, not doing this stupid shit! Do you think I care about your mate?!”

Lorent narrowed his eyes, he stared at Zuri, trying to find out whether she was lying or not, but all he could see was this angry woman glaring back at him with killing intent in her eyes.

Zuri on the other hand was looking around, she was in this small room with nothing inside, lying on the thin makeshift bed, where she could feel the cold ground.

This room didn’t have any window, only one small door, which she had to run past Lorent first before she could reach it and when she tried to wriggle her body, she realized she was being tied by silver chain.

Of course, she should have expected this.

“Let me go and you will live! Khaos didn’t need to know about this!”

“Khaos didn’t need to know?” Lorent asked with mocking smile. “Of course, he knew already, that I kidnapped you, I am sure he is smart enough to figure that out by now because he did the same to my mate! That fucking lycan had kidnapped my mate!”
