Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 149 – The Lost Pack (Paige & Ryder) Novel Online Free

Jaxon beams so brightly I swear it could light the whole room.

Footsteps sound on the stairs, and I look up to see Callen. His hair is damp from a shower, and he looks a little paler than usual. He gives us a lazy smile, dropping into the chair on Poppy’s other side.

“Smells good in here. I’m starving.”

“Aren’t you supposed to be resting?” I raise an eyebrow at him.

“I was, but I’m starving, and you guys are making too much noise.” He says with a smirk, and I narrow my eyes at him. We weren’t being loud.

The back door opens then, and Parker and Remy walk in, both carrying empty coffee cups. Parker swoops down behind me, brushing a quick kiss to my cheek before taking a seat.

“How long have you been back?” I ask.

“Just long enough to drink a coffee.”

“Aww, look at us, all eating breakfast together,” Callen grins, then winks at Poppy. “Glad to see our guest survived the night.”

Poppy lifts a brow, suspicious. “Survived? Should I be worried?”

“Only if Paige tells you all the details,” he shoots back smoothly, his grin wicked.

Heat shoots into my cheeks, and Poppy lets out a delighted giggle, covering her mouth with her hand. “Oh my god.”

“Callen,” I groan, covering my face with both hands.

Poppy giggles again, clearly enjoying my torment. “This is amazing. You’re telling me you heard the whole thing?”

“Not the whole thing,” Ryder says, meeting my glare over the rim of his cup, “but enough to know Paige promised you a ‘full experience’ report.”

“Ryder!” My voice comes out as an embarrassing squeak, and I can feel my face burning all the way to my ears.

“Oh, I love this,” Poppy declares, clapping her hands together like she’s just won the lottery. “I love seeing Paige blush.”

“Well, I’m glad my embarrassment brings you such joy,” I huff at Poppy.

I look to Parker for help. If anyone is going to save me from further teasing, it’s him. His smirk is subtle, but his eyes are anything but innocent.

My eyes shift to Remy, but his expression is no better, almost mirroring Parker’s exactly. “You brought this on yourself, Paige,” he rumbles. “The full experience will be yours before you know it.”

“Remy,” I hiss his name, my mortification reaching a whole new level.

Poppy nearly falls off her stool laughing, holding her coffee like it’s the only thing keeping her upright. “Oh my God, you guys are incredible. She’s dying. She’s actually dying.”

Jaxon, bless his sweet, oblivious little heart, looks up at me with chocolate-smeared cheeks. “Mum, why are you red? Are you sick?”

Poppy chokes on her laugh, while Callen completely loses it, slapping the counter. Parker, the traitor, covers his mouth to hide a grin.

“I’m fine, Jax,” I manage, smoothing his hair back. “Completely fine. It’s just… warm in here.”

“If you think this is warm, just wait until later. I’ve heard it’s really going to heat up.” Ryder winks.

The table erupts in laughter, Poppy wheezing like she’s in actual pain. “Paige, you are never living this down.”

Despite my embarrassment, I can’t help but laugh too. Because I know exactly what my men are doing. They are distracting my sister from all the horrors of last night, and if I have to be the butt of the jokes to see her laugh like this, then I gladly accept my role.

Chapter106

** Paige’s POV **

After breakfast, Poppy is still grinning with amusement. Parker excuses himself to shower, giving me a smile that threatens to melt me. Callen goes back upstairs to nap before it’s time. to check on Leo, and Ryder and Remy take Jax to play in the living room.

I gather up the plates to wash, and Poppy bounces up to help.

“I have to admit, I like this for you and Jaxon,” Poppy says quietly.

I turn to look at her over my shoulder. “What do you mean?”

“This life you have, it suits you.” She smiles softly. “This place is beautiful, and the guys are so good with Jax. Even after everything that happened last night, you’re all able to laugh and smile together. You are different here, Paige, and it suits you.”

“Different how?”

“I don’t know, it’s like when you look at them, you light up in a way I’ve never seen before, and it’s clear they adore you. Jax is obviously happy here too. Watching you all together gives me a good feeling, you are everything a family should be,” she explains.

Her words warm me, and a weight I hadn’t even realised I’d been carrying lifts from my shoulders. If Poppy, my sister and my best friend, the person whose opinion has always mattered most, can look at my life here and see something good, then I don’t need anyone else’s approval. The people I love are happy for me, and that is all that matters.

“Thanks, Pops, that means a lot,” I manage, keeping my gaze fixed on the sink as it fills with warm soapy water.

Before Poppy can say anything else, I hear footsteps on the stairs and glance over my shoulders to see Parker, fresh from the shower. His eyes meet mine, and he gives me that panty-melting smile again that makes my cheeks heat.

“See, that’s exactly what I’m talking about,” Poppy laughs.

I shoot her a ‘shut up’ look, but Parker is already grinning.

Parker makes a beeline straight for me, his hands wrapping around my waist and his face dropping to my neck, breathing me in.

“Why don’t you and Poppy have coffee on the porch? I’ll finish the dishes,” he murmurs.

“It’s okay, I can…”

“Sounds like a good idea to me. I have so many questions,” Poppy cuts me off, and Parker chuckles, guiding me away from the sink.
