“Why?”
“I think you’re about to go into your first heat, we have to leave. Now!”
JAXSON’S POV
Madelyn was on edge all throughout breakfast, so I kept assuring her, that her visions wouldn’t come to pass, but she wouldn’t let it go, and was eager to start training to learn to fight and went to get dressed for training, the second she was done eating.
“I really don’t like this” I told Koda, as I stood up from the table “Her heat could happen any second, you can smell her scent too, it’s gotten so much stronger”
“I’ve moved my training session to this morning” Koda informed me “So I can be by her side, just go to the meeting, and I’ll stay with her”
“You only switched the training session, to avoid dad” I pointed out.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” He smirked, and I was tempted to knock him out.
“Fine, whatever, I’m going”
I quickly went to the bedroom, and found Madelyn pulling on pants, so I kissed her, and left for the tower.
I liked living outside the tower, even if it meant, I had to get up earlier, it was nice having a place for just the three of us, and I briefly wondered if Koda would mind, us staying in the manor, and not returning to the tower full time.
After heading into the throne room, I was greeted by several council members, who I politely addressed, before walking up to my parents, and bowing.
I still hadn’t forgiven my father, for his ridiculous claim on my mate, and I doubted I ever would, the f*cking nerve of this man, but he was still my King, and I had to respect that.
“Everyone” My mother clapped, to gain the councelors attention “Come to order, let us begin”
“Before we begin today’s meeting” I held up my hand, and took a breath “I have to inform the council of a vision, Madelyn has had”
The room grew silent, and everyone looked at me.
“What vision?” My father asked, his eyes tense with concern.
“She saw Troy attempting to abduct her during the festival”
“Tell us, exactly what she saw” My mother demanded, and I replayed every thing she had shown myself and Koda.
“So, there’s no guarantee that this will happen at the festival” Cole pointed out “It was just some event with fireworks”
“It’s the most likely scenario though” My dad frowned “We have performers coming from all over the country, Troy could slip back in amongst them”
“And we should let him” My mother commented.
“Excuse me!?” I snapped
“We have Rebecca” She pointed out “We could trap Troy, I have a plan”
I smiled to myself, my mother was quick with a plan, Koda got that from her, and while I was grateful, she had a plan to help Madelyn, I didn’t want it to be heard by the council.
“If you have a plan to help her, perhaps we could talk about this in private” I said, and looked towards Jordan, I knew I couldn’t trust him.
“Nonesense” My father snapped “After someone let it slip who Madelyn’s mother was, I had every council member interrogated, they can be trusted, so shut up, and sit down, darling, proceed with your plan”
I was fuming, I didn’t care that he trusted them, Cody and I didn’t, and I couldn’t wait to get rid of the ones we hated.
“Rebecca is a shape-shifter” My mother went on “We could have her pose as Maddie, and when Troy attempts to take her, we can turn the tables, and as for Maddie, she can be kept safely hidden”
“We should also make sure there’s a tracker on Bec” Cole suggested ‘Just in case, Troy does take her”
I looked at Cole, he loved messing around with Rebecca, they’d slept together, on and off for decades. I’d also slept with her a few times over the years, but I was never going to disclose that information to my girl.
“Where are we going to hide the Luna during the festival?” Jordan asked, with a little too much interest for my liking, and I turned to glare at him.
“That information will stay between myself and Koda” I told him firmly, looking into his disgusting eyes, as I spoke. He seemed annoyed, but he knew he couldn’t say anything.
“How am I supposed to protect your mate, if I don’t know where she’ll be” My father said, and I quickly turned to him “I’ll need to organize the guards”
“I will tell them the day of the festival” I crossed my arms, I wasn’t budging, especially not in front of Jordan.
“Its not the best idea to hide the Luna away during the entire festival?” One of the other councilors, Derek commented “She will have duties to perform during the day, and I personally know, a lot of the elders are eager to meet her, along with the pack, the attendance sales are through the roof this year, and I suspect, it’s because everyone wants to get a glimpse at our new Queen”
“Madelyn can stay and perform her duties during the day” My father said, before I could even open my mouth “Thanks to her vision, we know she’s safe until nightfall, so before the fireworks, she can switch out with Rebecca, and go into hiding until we have Troy”
“If we catch Troy” Ryker spoke up “Does that mean we will no longer need his daughter Skyler, what about the plan we have with my daughter?”
I looked from Ryker to my father, who seemed deep in thought for a moment “We’ll still go ahead with that plan, I want that blood, so we can perform the tracking spell, even if we capture her father, the girl might still run to Fenrir. Have you spoken with Madelyn yet?”
“No, not yet”
“Why not?” My mother asked.
“Because we’ve had more pressing things to deal with” I pointed out “Like who drugged her, for one, we still haven’t caught him”
“Well, either way, bring it up with her” My dad ordered “We have to get this spell in place”
“Yes sir” I said reluctantly, neither myself nor Koda, wanted to ask this of Madelyn, it wasn’t fair to her, to ask her to release that b*tch Blake from prison, she deserved to rot in there.
“Is that all?” My father asked.
“There’s something else” I looked up at my mother “Madelyn had another vision about Koda, he was stabbed in the chest”
“What?” My mother’s eyes widened, and I could hear her heart race “Was it fatal?”
“I don’t know” I shook my head, and prayed to the goddess, that it wasn’t.
Again, I explained about the vision, and my mother’s face, looked terrified “We’ll keep a healer on call” My father, reached over and touched my mother’s face to sooth her “Koda will be alright, if that’s all, we should get down to business”
“That it?” I snapped “I tell you, that your son might die, and that’s your only solution, just put a healer on call?”
“What would you have me do?” He snapped back “Wrap the boy in cotton wool? Nothing can be done, until we have more information, if Madelyn has another vision, let us know, and we will go from there”
I exhaled angrily through my nose, and shook my head, how was this b*stard, my mother’s mate? It didn’t make sense.
My father changed the subject, and we began our usual meeting. Although I wasn’t paying attention, I was trying to control Knox, who wanted to attack our pathetic excuse for a father.
“Jax, you have to get home now” Koda linked me, during the end of the meeting. Unfortunately, it was running long this morning, due to my parents finalizing our plans for the troops.
“Why, what’s wrong?”
