Sometimes hope could be also the cruelest form of feeling in this world, because while at dire moment hope could be the strength for you to keep going on with life, but in Khaos case right now, hope was actually what killed him inside.
After he killed all the warriors, who came to the Great Palace and stained the ground with their blood, as he didn’t care whether it was a friend or a foe, Khaos stared at his mate.
Zuri’s body was still warm, she was still breathing, but no matter what Khaos did, she would never wake up.
Khaos nuzzled her face. He caressed her cheek with the tip of his nose, along her jawline, yet she didn’t give any response. He kissed her cheek, but her head would tilt to the side, as if lifelessly.
At first, Khaos didn’t know what sound it was, but after a moment he realized the sound came from him, he was whimpering. He was in so much pain, the beast within him was in so much agony.
Not because of the severed mate bond, but because he knew this hollow in his chest would be something that lasted forever if Zuri didn’t wake up.
Khaos held Zuri’s body carefully as if he could harm her if he used too much pressure. He was so different from the lycan, who had killed so many warriors.
He looked broken.
The shadow around his body shuddered and spread widely on the ground or on the walls. It looked like a feral creature, thousand creatures.
There was one thing that the shadow wanted, it was to kill more. It wasn’t enough for it to kill all the warriors there. It wanted more, and Khaos needed to reign it, the bloodlust from this dark creature, the shadow that came from the darkness.
However, right now, Khaos was not in his right mind. He couldn’t care less of how many people he had killed, because in the end of the day, even though he managed to get back the ultimate power, he would never get her back.
The shadow spread around him like a cloak and then shattered, but a moment later, it would appear again.
From the look of it, Khaos didn’t seem to have fully control over the shadow, but then it was still not sure whether he couldn’t do it or he simply didn’t want to do it.
In the end, Khaos held Zuri’s body and carried her toward the gates. He was going to get the other eight of the magic users, who were still alive. They might know something.
The darkness followed him, as he walked and then it covered him like blanket before he disappeared from the sight.
There was nothing there, but an empty palace and a thousand warriors from Great Lunar kingdom that marched toward the Great Palace.
Somehow, the other kingdom learned about what happened here and they decided to have the confrontation, but aside from bloody scene and dead bodies on the floor, they couldn’t find anything.
The lycan had left with his mate.
Khaos didn’t leave for Bryden, he went to find Dezgar first.
The current leader of the magic users was in the tent a few miles away from the Great Palace with Gayle and a few joined warriors from Wolfdale kingdom.
“My great lycan!” Dezgar startled when he saw Khaos. He didn’t expect to see him inside his tent when no one saw him stepped inside.
“Check on her.”
Khaos stepped aside and revealed Zuri, who was already laying on the makeshift bed.
Dezgar could feel the ominous feeling came from the lycan, not to mention the shadow that flared around him looked very threatening. It looked like an angry creature that needed to be leashed, but then how could you restrain the darkness?
He knew that the beauty blood had been completed and this must be the ultimate power that people were talking about.
Something had changed. One more thing that was very clear here was Khaos’s eyes. His eyes were no longer the color of grey. His eyes were the color of blood. They were red.
“Someone poisoned her.”
Dezgar took a tentative step to approach Zuri, but he was warried of the shadow that surrounded the tent. The closer he got, the more he felt suffocated, as if the air had been sucked out of this tent.
“Her time has been stopped,” Dezgar finally said after he checked on Zuri. He basically repeated what the other magic user had told Khaos. “If we wake her up, she will die…”
“Do something.”
Dezgar could feel the shadow became thicker. This creature from the darkness became even more threatening. He felt like it could cut his head any time.
“I… I will try to find a solution…”
“How long?”
Even his voice was different. He sounded more aloof and colder, every word that came from his mouth sounded like a threat. The temperature dropped in the tent, Dezgar started shivering, whether it was because of the killing intent that emitted in the air or it was because of his strong presence, or it might be both.
No one would want to be the receiving end of his wrath.
“I am…” Dezgar gulped down. He was trembling. “I am not sure.”
“Be sure about that. I want the answer when I returned.”
Suddenly, the shadow that crawled on the tent disappeared and the tension dissipated. Dezgar turned around and he couldn’t see the lycan anymore. He had gone. Vanished into thin air.
Dezgar was dumbstruck, not even the most powerful magic user could do such thing.
Not long after that, Gayle entered the tent and found Zuri was there. “How she could be here?”
“Don’t touch her,” Dezgar said. He took a step to block Gayle, which only confused the gamma.
“Why?”
“Because if something happened to her…” Dezgar shook his head, as he corrected his words. “If her condition is getting worse, we are going to hell.” He was still dreading the feeling of Khaos’s presence.
“What do you mean with that?” Gayle couldn’t understand. He looked around the tent. If Zuri was here, Khaos should be here too, right? “Where is Khaos?”

“Khaos?” Bryden was startled when he saw Khaos at the end of the hallway. He almost couldn’t recognize him.
The hallway was rather dark, but Bryden still could make out his figure in the distance. He hastened his pace to approach him, but suddenly, he couldn’t move his legs, it felt like something had restrained him.
It started with his legs, his arms and then his entire body.
Bryden didn’t expect to see Khaos was there, he thought it would take a few days before he finally arrived at Celeste kingdom, after all the travel from Three Deadly Ways to here would take days.
“Khaos…?” Bryden was ecstatic to see Khaos. He was thrilled to know how things had unfolded after the completion of the beauty blood.
He was curious to know what kind of power that Khaos was holding, but little did he know, he was going to find out and taste his power firsthand.
