“You can visit her tomorrow after the funerals, I want you to stay home, and rest for the remainder of the day”
“But I have my lesson”
“Scr*w your lesson” I rolled my eyes. The girl was so strange, who thought about class after going through what she’d been through. It broke my heart when I realized this kind of trauma wasn’t new to her, she’d had to learn to keep functioning after something horrible happened, she was never given a chance to just process and grieve normally.
I held her tighter, and pressed my face into her throat “You’re going to stay home today, I’ll work from the home office”
“Okay” She leaned back, and looked into my eyes “Thank you for taking care of me”
I smiled, and kissed her nose, making her giggle “Let’s get dressed, unless you’d like to stay naked”
“Just let me down” She playfully shoved me.
I moved back, and gripped her small waist, to help her down, but her hands ran down my chest to my stomach, turning me on, I thought it was an accident, but she blushed, and winked at me, before walking over to grab her towel, and hiding her delicious body from my prying eyes.
We dressed and ate lunch together, before I went to get some packing done, now that Maddie had agreed to let Blake out, I’d be leaving after we let Sky out, so I had to be ready.
Maddie hovered around me, while I packed, just pacing around and watching me sadly. I knew she didn’t want me to go, and neither did I, but I knew she’d at least have Jax while I was away.
I was working in the home office later in the evening, when Jax finally came home, looking tired.
“How did it go with Blake and Skyler?”
“Skyler agreed” He pulled off his jacket “And the funerals are set up for tomorrow, so I’ll get Madelyn to pick out a dress. Where is she?”
“She’s in the kitchen, she wanted to cook dinner for us tonight” I told him “Though, I think she’s just trying to keep busy, she’s been really quiet”
“She’ll be alright” He said hopefully, but then his tone change “So.. I kind of did something”
I looked up from my computer, and frowned “What did you do?”
“I may have punched dad in the face”
I just gawked at my id*ot brother, as I took in his words “And you’re not in prison?” I said in disbelief “Why did you hit him?”
Jax reached out his hand, and I took it, to transfer the memories, I was happy that one of us finally got to hit our father, but I was also a bit angry, this may backfire on us, and affect our mate.
“When are you going to learn to control your damn temper” I snapped, and shoved his hand away.
“He grabbed me first” Jax defended himself.
“I don’t want to hear it” I growled angrily “Your actions don’t just affect me and you anymore, they also affect Madie, and did it even occur to you, that Sky’s comment about the funerals was odd, I think something’s going to happen, I’ll link dad, and let him know, we should double the guards for tomorrow”
“Fine, whatever” He threw up his hand in dismissal “I’m going to see Madelyn”
I got back to work, but after an hour, Jax and Maddie came back into the office wearing robes “Get up, and grab your swim trunks” Jax ordered.
“I’m working” I pointed out, in annoyance “I have to get ahead before I leave the city”
“Do it tomorrow” Jax said, as he came over, and grabbed the back of my chair, and pulled me away from the desk “Come on, Madelyn set up dinner near the spa, she’s never been in one, so don’t be a wet blanket, and join us”
“Please” Maddie pouted.
“Fine” I stood up, and she clapped happily, and hugged me. I gave her a quick kiss before letting her go “I’ll go change and meet you outside”
I changed, and went outside wearing my board shorts, and placed my towel on the hook beside the large spa, before climbing in beside Maddie, who was wearing a very nice black bikini I’d picked out during our shopping trip.
They were each holding a dish of food and talking about the funeral.
“Is this mine?” I grabbed the plate with the most food, and Maddie nodded at me before turning back to Jax.
“So, all the bodies will be burnt?” She asked, and picked at her own food.
I leaned back comfortably, enjoying the heat and bubbles of the water “Yes” I answered her.
“We never burnt the bodies in my old pack” She told us
“Lycan’s do things differently” Jax shrugged “We’ll burn the bodies, the priestess will give a prayer, and then there will be a celebration”
“It seems wrong to celebrate their deaths”
“We celebrate their lives, not their death” I told her, as I picked up a chicken wing, and devoured it ‘What did you season this with? It’s delicious”
“Koda, we’re talking about the funeral, not your damn food” Jax pointed out.
“Let not talk about it at all, it’s not nice dinner conversation” I countered, and took another bite of my food “Baby, you really are a great cook, you have a gift”
“Thank you” She smiled, and went back to her own food “I’ll cook more and fatten you up, so no one else wants you”
Jax and I laughed “Maybe I’ll do the same to you”
“Sounds good to me” Jax joked “You guys can get super fat, and keep me warmer at night”
Maddie giggled and flicked water at him “If we can’t talk about the funeral, will you tell me a story about your past”
“Okay, what do you want to know?”
“Oh, I have a good story” Jax smirked at me “It involves Koda trying to ride a rhino, and getting speared in the ass”
“You swore you’d never tell anyone about that” I complained “We had a deal!”
“Don’t listen to him” Maddie said eagerly “I want to hear the story”
I sighed grumpily, and sat back eating, and listening to Jax exaggerating one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, it was all worth it in the end though, to hear Maddie laughing happily, even if it was at my expense, and I got even with a story about Jax, falling into a poison ivy bush while he was drunk.
After dinner, the subject changed to my trip, but I could tell Maddie was upset at the mention of it.
“I don’t want you to go” She told me once more.
“I know” I said patiently.
“Can’t I persuade you to stay here with us?” She asked, and climbed onto my lap.
“Persuade me how?” I asked, as my eyes ran down her body.
Maddie slipped her hands into my shorts, and started to stroke my c*ck “I think we’ve created a monster” I told my brother who sat back with his elbows up on the edge of the spa “She can’t seem to get enough”
“Good thing she has two mates then” Jax commented.
