Isabella … where are you?

“Why are you down here?” I asked Lucy. “You’re pregnant, you should’ve stayed upstairs.”

“I told her the same thing but your sister is too damn stubborn.” Austin complained. “As soon as she heard that her brothers were in the dungeons she came running here.”

“Running?” Thane asked. “You should be more careful Lucy.”

“I don’t know about those guys but I for one am happy to see someone other than their faces around here.” Marcus teased.

“So how did the wedding go?” I asked Lucy. This had been on my mind constantly and I was worried about Isabella. After she’d confessed to being in love with Hunter I realized just how big of a sacrifice she would be making to marry someone else.

“You’ll be surprised to find out what exactly occurred outside of the dungeons.” Eden said as she joined us. “What did you boys do this time to end up in here?”

“Long story.” Thane growled. “I want to hear about what happened at the wedding.”

“Hunter happened.” James said walking behind Eden. “He definitely lives up to his name. He came in here like a storm and stopped the wedding from happening.”

I was stunned by his words. Hunter really came all the way over here to stop Isabella from getting married? He even risked a war with the council and also put his relationship with Maggie at risk.

Why?

Was it possible that he was also in love with my sister?

“I can see what you’re thinking and you’ll be surprised at what happened after he stopped the wedding.” Austin said. “He marked Isabella in front of the entire crowd … Even in front of Maggie.”

I was speechless now. If he marked her, then that meant that she was his mate. What exactly was happening? Was this another case of Austin and Lucy? Had Hunter been under a spell that made him think that Maggie was his mate when in truth Isabella was his mate?

“What did Maggie do?” nolan asked.

That was a good question. How did she react to seeing her husband marking someone else?

“She stormed out of there.” Austin answered. “There is something off about her. Why did she even attend the wedding in the first place without Hunter? She had no connections to anyone there as far as I know.”

“I have a bad feeling about her as well.” Lucy admitted. “I saw the way she looked at Isabella. She doesn’t like her and I know that one would think she has a right to dislike her but I feel like it runs much deeper than that. The hatred in her eyes is scary. She’s holding in a lot of anger and I think that she will eventually let it out, especially since Hunter chose to mark Isabella and she was left to be embarrassed in front of everyone.”

“Anyway, this is not what we came down here to discuss.” Eden cut in. “Hunter as well as Austin and James made a deal with the council in order to let you guys go.”

“You didn’t have to do that.” I growled. “They already have us trapped here. You two are free to live your lives, why are you risking your happiness for ours? This is nothing; we’ve been punished far worse than this already. We could have handled it.”

Eden rolled her eyes. “It really isn’t anything that big of a deal.” She assured me as she reached forward and unlocked the cells.

Luthais reached forward and gave both Eden and Lucy a k**s on their cheeks. “Thank you for freeing us.”

I shook my head. Luthais was always the little charmer out of the five of us and the awe on my sisters’ faces only confirmed that.

“Can we see Isabella?” Thane asked.

Eden sighed. “She already left. Hunter sent her back home with some of his men while he dealt with the council.”

“Dealt with the council?” I asked.

“He was pissed that they even considered getting Isabella married. He was basically cutting all ties with them and then they blackmailed him using you guys. He agreed to stay with them as long as they kept you out of the dungeons.”

Thane frowned. “I can’t imagine the look on the prosecutor’s face after Hunter had told them of his plan to leave. He counted on Hunter to do a lot of business for him. The council would have been hit with a big loss.”

“Let’s be honest. no one thought that the cold Hunter Miller would ever be in love with Isabella. The council clearly misread the situation and sunk themselves in this hole.” Austin admitted.

“Why don’t you guys go take a shower and then we can discuss more about this Maggie woman. I feel like we should keep a close eye on her, at least for Isabella’s sake.” Eden told us.

I nodded and did as she said. I still wished that I’d gotten to see Isabella before she left. Hopefully the council would allow us to visit her.

After showering I headed to her room. Our sister had to be going through a lot and she didn’t have any of us by her side for support. I always knew Isabella was strong but now I was positive how much of a fighter she truly was.

I opened the door and everything was neat and cleaned. I sighed, whenever I missed her I would come to her room. It always made me feel closer to her.

I was about to leave when I saw the doctor at the door.

“What are you doing here doctor?” I asked him. “Did someone call for you? Is it Lucy?”

He immediately shook his head. “Actually Isabella told me to run some tests for her. She wasn’t feeling well and she asked me to find out what was wrong.”

I immediately approached him with worried eyes. “You’re saying that she was sick and no one told us anything?”
