Chapter 177 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

He had been waiting for him out there. It was Gayle. The Gamma was actually waiting for him until he was done with Zuri.

He watched how Khaos locked the door behind him, which essentially he locked Zuri away.

Khaos might not do anything to help his warrior. He didn’t punish Zuri because he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to do that. But, more importantly, it would be too much to ask for Khaos to punish Zuri, whatever the reason was.

Yet, the fact that the lycan actually locked her inside the room…

Gael knew that deep down Khaos did care about his people. But, as a calculative person, Khaos must have thought that losing thousands of people was worth it, if he had to compare it to lose Zuri.

In Khaos’s crazy’s mind and bias calculation, he was willing to lose thousand more, instead of losing his mate.

“Is he sleeping?” Gayle asked.

“Yes, she is sleeping,” Khaos replied, and then he saw the creature with Gayle. It was Shadow. The wolf actually had grown very big and the white color of its fur was majestic. It was as white as snow.

“I would like to inform you that Caidan had returned to Graywolf pack, but I want you to be also aware that his return might cause a problem for you. That’s why you need to understand that…” He looked for the right word to say. “There might be time when he you have to fight him.”

Gayle stretched out his hand and then scratched Shadow’s head.

“I know that.” Khaos glanced at the wolf.

On the other hand, Gayle looked restless as he stared at Khaos. “You shouldn’t let him go. He will cause trouble for you. I can see that his loyalty is no longer with you. He was hurt. He is hurt and he didn’t think.”

Khaos nodded upon hearing that, his expression didn’t change at all. “I know.”

“It’s not a good thing to let him go back to Greywolf pack, where Mabel will fill his head in with all the negative thoughts about you. Mabel must want a revenge and she would do everything in order to make his son leading the warrior to destroy you.”

Chaos lifted his head and look at Gayle in the eyes. “Do I have your loyalty?” Khaos asked and for a moment, everything went quiet. It was too quiet, it was uncomfortable.

When Gayle didn’t reply to his question, though Khaos didn’t really need to hear the answer, the lycan simply tapped on Shadow’s head and asked why this wolf was here. Gayle glanced at the wolf. He told Khaos that it was Caiden who asked one of the warriors to get Shadow here.

“I am not sure what his intention was, but I think it’s a good thing for Zuri. To have something to distract her. She used to like Shadow so much. I think this will help her to calm down a little bit.”

Gayle had theory that this was Caiden’s last effort, but for what? He was not clear about that.

“What the hell is wrong with this creature?!” Zuri glare at Shadow that barked at her loudly. The wolf actually growled at Zuri, as if the white wolf was going to attack her, but thankfully Gayle was there. He was the one who brought Shadow to Zuri into the room.

Since Zuri had been locked inside this room for quite some time, he thought it was a good idea to give Zuri Shadow to accompany her. After all, they were very close before Gayle even remember that Shadow chose to be with Zuri instead of Caidan.

But, the wolf’s reaction right now was a little bit confusing because it show such an aggressive behavior.

It’s not like Shadow. The wolf used to be very affectionate with Zuri.

Actually, the explanation of it was very clear. Gayle had known the reason, even Shadow had never growled viciously at him like this, as if this wolf hated the woman before it.

“Take away that fucking creature! I don’t want to see that growling at me! I am going to tear it apart, if I saw the wolf again! Get rid of that thing from my eyes!”

Gayle frowned, he didn’t immediately do it and instead stared at Zuri as if she grew another head. He was very slow and this annoyed Zuri. Gayle should immediately move away and took Shadow outside of this room.

Yet, the gamma was still stunned by the way Zuri reacted to see Shadow again. He knew this was not Zuri, but he thought it could help the real Zuri come to the surface.

Somehow, Gayle felt a little bit sad. They had trained together in the past and there was a bond that was formed between them.

That was why he thought of Zuri as his little sister. Kind of.

However, it was obviously not enough to get her back.

“Zuri, you used to like Shadow, remember? Khaos gave you the wolf when it was only a few days old. I was the one who brought the wolf to you. Do you remember that? You named the wolf Shadow.”

It was so bizarre for Zuri to come up with the name, but right now the name suit Khaos more, since he controlled the shadow.

On the other end, upon hearing that Zuri glared at Gayle. “Of course, I remember that! Do you think I am crazy? And then what? I don’t care. What else do you want me to do? Fucking cuddle with that furball? Get rid of that thing!”

Zuri was furious. She marched across the room and then kicked Shadow on the face. Yet, what she didn’t expect was the wolf actually bit her leg and she screamed on the top of her lungs as she fell to the ground.

Shadow had never bitten anyone, especially not Zuri. Even when Zuri hurt it the last time, the wolf was still very affectionate with her.

Seeing that, Gayle was stunned but he immediately reacted and held back the wolf, while Zuri was screaming.

“Get rid of that fucking wolf!”

Gayle quickly got Shadow out of the room, as Zuri was crying in pain and the wolf was growling viciously. She screamed profanities and all the swearing word that she could think about. She hated that wolf so much. She felt like she was going to fucking kill that creature the first chance she got.

“Get that thing away from my face or I am going to kill you too, Gayle! Get rid of that thing! Get rid of that thing! That thing hurt me!”

Zuri screamed and Gayle rushed out of the room to find Dezgar to check on Zuri, since she was spiraling and Khaos wouldn’t be happy to see her being hurt like that.

“What the fuck do you think you are doing?!” Dezgar sounded frustrated when he heard what happened.

“I don’t know, I am not sure what I am doing.” Gayle was at lost for word. He shook his head, clueless. “Please, check on Zuri, if something happened to her, I don’t think Khaos will be merciful.”

“I am sure he is going to kill you and the wolf,” Dezgar grumbled, as he rushed toward the room, where Khaos locked Zuri in.

Gayle calmed Shadow down and let Dezgar to deal with Zuri as she was still screaming and crying inside the bedroom. She was not stable. And as the day went by, her condition did not improve at all.

Three months later, Rose, king Eyren and Declan had arranged everything. She still had not yet announced her pregnancy and once again, Logan agreed with her because it would put their baby in danger, especially when they were going into a war against the lycan.

The two kingdoms joined hand and had their warriors prepared. They were ready for another war.

“What are you thinking about?” Rose approached Logan, who was deep in thought, as he cradled her in his arms. Both of them stared at the sunset, enjoying this beautiful and peaceful moment.

Resting her head against Logan’s chest, Rose could hear his steady heartbeat, which was very calming.

“It’s a little bit weird.”

“What is weird?”
