RYAN’S POV
By the time I reached the hospital ward to check on Anna, I already felt something was off. The air didn’t feel the same. My steps slowed when I noticed unfamiliar guards standing outside her room, two tall men dressed in all black, their stance too stiff, too composed, and their eyes too sharp. They weren’t our men. I’d seen those faces before, always around one man.
My blood ran cold.
Alpha King George.
My hands curled into fists before I even touched the door handle. My heartbeat quickened, and my wolf stirred violently inside me. I gritted my teeth so hard my jaw hurt, and before anyone could even reach me, I pushed the door open.
And there he was.
Alpha King George.
Standing right beside Anna’s bed, talking to my mother and father like he wasn’t the same bastard who had been behind every fucking thing that happened to her.
I saw red.
Before anyone could blink, my fist connected with his face so hard that he stumbled backward, his body crashing against the side table. His head hit the wall, and the vase beside the bed shattered into pieces. My mom screamed, my dad shouted, and even my grandparents gasped in shock, but I wasn’t hearing any of them.
“Ryan! What the hell are you doing?!” Mom yelled, rushing toward me, but I wasn’t stopping. My breathing was fast, loud, and I could hear my own heartbeat in my ears.
He was right there. The man who destroyed Anna’s life. The man who made Sophie the monster she became. The man who dared to walk into her room like he had any fucking right to.
I lunged again before anyone could hold me back, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him to the ground. He groaned, his face twisting in shock and anger. I didn’t care. My hand went for his throat, and I could feel my wolf rising fast, my claws starting to push through my skin.
“Ryan, stop!” Dad’s voice boomed, but I didn’t listen. My body was shaking, my eyes burning, my wolf fighting for control.
‘I saw him, my prey. The man I wanted to tear apart. The man who made my mate suffer.
He groaned and tried to get up, but I shoved him down again, my breathing harsh. “You dare show your face here?!” I shouted, my voice trembling with rage. “After everything you’ve done?!”
“Ryan!” Anna’s voice came out weak, frightened. “Stop! Please!”Her voice cut through me like a blade. For a second, my focus faltered, but my wolf wasn’t done. My claws had already elongated, my teeth sharp enough to rip him open. I felt my eyes shift color, fire red, blue, and gold all burning together. My wolf was seconds from taking over.
“Ryan!” Dad grabbed my shoulders, shaking me hard. “Snap out of it!”
I resisted, growling low, my muscles tensing. “Let me go, Dad! You don’t understand!”
“Ryan!” He shook me again, harder this time. “Stop before you do something you can’t undo!”
It took everything in me to pull back. My chest heaved, my body trembling as my claws slowly retracted. I stared mind. down at Alpha King George, who was glaring at me like I’d lost my
“What’s your problem?!” he shouted angrily, standing up and wiping the blood off his mouth. “Have you gone insane?”
I didn’t answer. I just glared at him, my breathing uneven.
“Ryan!” Mom yelled again, her voice sharp and panicked. “What’s gotten into you?!”
Alpha King George turned to my father, his voice low but full of threat. “I don’t know what came over your son, Killian, but watch him. I won’t tolerate such disrespect again. I’m only letting this go because he’s your son. Next time, I won’t be so generous.”
He straightened his jacket, adjusted his cuffs like the arrogant bastard he was, and without another word, he stormed out with his guards following behind him.
The room fell silent for a few seconds after he left. Everyone just stared at me, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and even Anna, who looked pale and terrified. My chest was still rising and falling fast, my fists clenched at my sides.
Dad stepped closer, his eyes filled with confusion and frustration. “Ryan, what the hell was that? What’s going on?”
I turned to him, my voice low and strained. “That man… he’s not who we think he is.”
“What are you talking about?” Dad asked. “You just attacked the Alpha King of Europe. Do you realize what you’ve done?!”
“Alpha king my foot. I know exactly what I did,” I said, my tone cold. “And I’ll do it again if I have to.” “Ryan!” Mom snapped. “Do you even hear yourself? What’s gotten into you?”
I ran a hand through my hair, trying to control the anger boiling inside me. “You wouldn’t understand.” I glanced toward Anna, who was still watching me, eyes wide, confused, scared.
Dad’s voice softened, but it was still firm. “Then make me understand, son.”
I took a slow breath. “Not here,” I repeated. “But you need to listen to me. There’s something you don’t know. About him. About everything.”
Dad frowned. “Ryan…”I looked at him dead in the eyes. “There’s a war coming, Dad.”
The room went completely quiet. No one said a word. Not even Mom. I turned away before anyone could stop me and walked out of the room, my hands still shaking, my mind already spinning with what I had to do next.Ryan.
He stood there looking so tired, his eyes a little puffy, his shirt slightly wrinkled, but still so damn handsome it made my throat dry. “Hey,” he said softly.
“Hey,” I replied awkwardly, not sure what to say. I hadn’t really spoken to him properly since that day. Everything about him made me uneasy, not in a bad way, just… complicated.
He handed me a small bag. “Here.”
“What’s this?” I asked, taking it from him.
“Your phone,” he said. “It was in the hospital drawer.”
“Oh!” My eyes lit up the moment I saw what was inside the bag. “My phone!” I gasped, reaching for it quickly. As I did, our fingers brushed, just for a second, but it was enough to send a strange spark shooting straight through me, hot and electric, crawling under my skin.
I froze for a heartbeat, the touch lingering longer than it should’ve, my pulse skipping wildly as I tried not to look at him. Ryan’s gaze didn’t help at all. He was just staring at me so intensely that it made my heart race even faster.
Desperate to break the tension, I pulled the phone out completely and hugged it to my chest, pretending that was the reason for my flushed face. “Oh my God, I’ve missed this thing so much,” I said quickly, forcing a little laugh.
Ryan’s lips curved slightly, like he knew exactly what I was doing but decided to let it go. That quiet smirk of his only made my heartbeat go even faster.
“Thank you,” I said quickly, stepping back toward my room. “You can go now.” I tried to close the door, but his foot stopped it midway.
“Ryan!” I said, eyes wide.
He said nothing, just pushed the door gently open and walked in like it was the most normal thing in the world. He looked around once, then sat down on my bed. “Sit,” he said, patting the space next to him.
I blinked, “No. You already gave me my phone. You can go.’
He raised an eyebrow. “Anna.”
The way he said my name, it wasn’t demanding, it wasn’t even angry, but it made my stomach flutter in a way that annoyed me. I hesitated, biting my lip, and finally gave in, sitting down beside him. My whole body went tense, God… He smelled good, too good, and I hated that my brain noticed that.”Switch it on,” he said quietly.
I turned on my phone. It vibrated several times as notifications flooded in. Missed calls, messages, group chats I didn’t even recognize. “Whoa,” I murmured, scrolling. There were so many messages from unknown numbers. One caught my attention, a contact saved as Sasha
