“Just like that?”
“Just like that?!” She snarled “No, not just like, do you have any idea the amount of power I had to use to create this stupid tracking spell, your lucky I”
“Okay, I’m sorry, I miss spoke”
“Bloody Lycans” She grumbled, and started tossing her items into her bag angrily “The dot is the girl you’re tracking, the spell will last a month, after that, you’re out of luck”
“Thank you”
“Don’t thank me” She ordered, and closed her bag “Just tell that King of yours that we’re even, and I no longer owe him anything”
“I will pass on the message”
“You do that, boy”
Tamsin walked out of the room, and the guards followed after her.
“The spells activated” I linked everyone
“Good” My father responded “Koda, you will leave in a few hours, be ready”
“I’ll be ready” He said, and then cut the link quickly.
MADELYN’S POV
“Jax!” I waved to him, as Cody and I came down the hallway. I didn’t want to leave the mall, something I thought I’d never think, but Koda told me that the spell was completed and that our day together had to come to an end.
I complained that Jax hadn’t let me know about the spell, when he told Koda, and I was going to let him have it when I saw him, but the second I saw his face, and those adorable pimples he had, I couldn’t remember why I was grumpy at him.
He smiled, before turning back to Cole, who bowed and walked away.
“Hey sweetheart” He greeted me, as I rushed over and reached my arms around his neck. He hugged me securely, and lifted me from the ground in a bear hug “How was your day?”
“So good” I blushed, and looked over at Koda, who was smiling at me “During our last run, I managed to get down the slopes without crashing”
“That’s amazing, you’ll be a pro in no time” He kissed me, and placed me back down on my feet “What’s on your throat?”
He reached over to touch my throat, but Koda growled and grabbed his wrist “Don’t touch my mark!” He said in warning, and Jax quickly lowered his hand.
“Sorry, I wasn’t thinking” Jax said quickly “But what is it?”
“Chocolate” Koda smiled, and passed me his handkerchief.
“Why can’t Jax touch your mark?” I asked as I wiped the leftover chocolate from my throat.
“Because it’s mine” Koda answered “Just like his mark, is his, which is why I shouldn’t touch it, why do you think I’ve never kissed that side of your throat?”
“I’ve never noticed” I admitted.
“Single minded, this one, as long as she’s getting pleasure, she wouldn’t notice if the house was on fire” Jax joked, but then he turned serious, and pulled out a strange folded golden paper “So, the spells done, Skyler will be released in an hour, here’s the map”
“Cheers” Koda took it, and tucked it into his jacket.
All of our moods fell, and I looked at Koda with a sad little pout, and went back to his arms, and hugged him.
“Let’s get home, and spend some time together before Cody leave” Jax offered, and I nodded against his chest.
The twins spoke about work the whole way home, but I just kept silent as I leaned into Koda’s body, enjoying his scent, and the warmth of his skin.
I tried to hide my sour mood, while we spent the next hour together at home, but when Koda and Jax tensed, and looked at each, I knew our time was up, and I burst into tears.
“Hey, now” Koda said quickly, and pulled me into his strong embrace “Please don’t cry, I will be home before you know it”
“Just think of the positive” Jax tried to joke “For the next few nights, we won’t have to put up with Koda’s snoring”
It worked, and I giggled, and hit him, before pressing my face back into Koda’s chest “Don’t go”
“I wish I could stay, but we are royal baby, we have obligations” He pulled back, and wiped my cheeks “I have to do my duty to the crown”
“It’s your dads fault that Fenrir is still alive in the first place” I said angrily “And it’s his fault, he got out. Why can’t your dad go? He’s the King, and it’s his responsibility, he’s only sending one of you to punish me for what my mom did, he’s such a jerk!”
The twins exchanged a look, that let me know, they agreed with my sentiment “Sweetheart, that is the last time you say something like that” He warned me “We might not agree with his rule, but he is our King. Don’t disrespect him, and don’t ever let anyone besides myself or Koda hear you speaking like that”
“Okay” I sniffed, and stepped back.
“Come on, let’s go” Koda took my hand, and kissed it “I’m meeting the guards by the entrance to the city, Skyler is already on the move”
I pouted grumpily, and went with my mates to the car, but when we were on our way, I undid my belt, and moved onto Koda’s lap and hugged him, but then I remembered my present, and leaned back, I reached into the pocket of my cape, and pulled out a bracelet, made from my own hair and weaved with black silk ribbon, and finished off with a clip on either end.
Molly helped me make it after my lesson the other day.
“This is for you” I held out the bracelet I’d made him ‘I made it the other day”
“You made this for me?” He asked, as he took the gift.
“Yes” I nodded shyly “I asked Molly, if there was anything Lycan women gifted their mates, if they were going on a journey, and she told me that women used to make their mates bracelets from their own hair”
“This is your hair?” Jax asked, as he touched my hair, checking it.
“Yes” I said again, before turning back to Koda, who was smiling at me present “I used black ribbon because it’s your favorite color, you don’t have to wear it, but can you please keep it with you to remind you of me while you’re away”
“Of course I’m going to wear it” He held it up, as well as his wrist “Will you put it on me?”
“Okay” I said happily, and latched it around his wrist “It’s spelled to stretch when you shift, so you don’t have to take it off”
“That’s a great idea” Jax praised me “We really should add that spell to our clothing. I’ve lost thousands of pants over the years, where did you even find a spell like that?”
“My mother’s journals” I answered “She created it after her first shift, she didn’t like being naked in public, do you like it?”
“I love it, and it looks great baby, thank you” Koda smiled and kissed me.
“That’s not fair, I want one” Jax complained, as Koda examined his wrist.
“You’re not going anywhere” Koda pointed out.
“So, it’s still not fair”
“I guess it’s a good thing, I made you one too then” I smiled and pulled out a second bracelet, only this one was woven with dark green ribbon.
