Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 184 – The Lost Pack (Paige & Ryder) Novel Online Free

Jake moves closer. “Sit beside him. Keep skin contact, hands, forehead, whatever feels right to you, it doesn’t matter just as long as their contact. Focus on your bond. You should be able to feel the thread that connects you, even if it’s weak. Try to picture it as light, as something you can strengthen.”

Ronnie crouches near the foot of the bed, nodding. “Good. Don’t think about the poison. Think about him. Think about who he is, what he means to you. That’s how you reach the bond.”

Poppy adjusts a few wires on the monitor. “His vitals are stable enough for now. If she’s going to try, this is the time.”

I shift closer until I’m sitting right at Ryder’s side. His skin is warmer now, but he’s still frighteningly pale. I take both of his hands in mine, lacing our fingers together, and close my eyes.

At first, there’s nothing but silence. I force myself to breathe slowly, matching my rhythm to his.

“Come on,” I think at him. “You’re in there. I know you are.”

I picture the bond as light, just like Jake said. I reach for it, trying to imagine pushing warmth, life and love through it, but all I feel is a cold and choking fear.

Nothing happens.

The air stays heavy. My palms start to sweat, and my chest aches from holding back tears.

“Paige?” Ronnie’s voice is soft now, careful. “Try focusing on your heartbeat. Imagine syncing yours with his.”

I try again, pressing my hands over his chest, feeling the faint thud beneath my palms. I concentrate on every memory that ties us together, starting from the very beginning.
