“That’s great. We need someone reliable. What’s your name, honey?”

“Liana Rivers.”

She nodded and was about to hand me a form when her eyes flicked to my neck.

She froze.

Her expression shifted instantly.

Her eyes widened. She took a step back.

“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t notice before.”

“Notice what?” I asked.

She looked down quickly. Then she bowed her head. “You’re not the right fit for the job. I’m sorry.”

“What? But you just said-“

“Please, forgive me. I didn’t mean any disrespect… Luna.”

I froze.

“What did you just call me?”

His face dropped a little. He rubbed his neck awkwardly. “The real owner of the building asked us to.”

My brows furrowed. “I thought YOU were the owner.”

“I only manage it. I never said I owned it.”

“Then I want to speak to the actual owner.” st. I

He hesitated. Then sighed heavily and opened one of the drawers He handed me a paper with the owner’s number written clearly on it. There was no name.

I didn’t need anyone telling me who it was
