“What’s wrong mommy?”
“Nothing” I smiled at the boy’s concerned face “Let’s go see your daddy”
I reached down and took his hand, as the door opened and another little boy with bright white hair come running in holding a rabbit.
“Look mommy” He shouted in joy “I found it outside, can I keep it”
“No, mommy” The first little boy complained “Addy already has loads of animals! Our room is already covered in bugs!”
“Shut up, Brax” The little white-haired boy snapped, and started struggling with the wild animal “They’re not hurting you!”
“It’s going to bite you, stupid” Brax warned him “Just like the snake you tried to keep”
“It was just scared, it didn’t mean too” He argued, as the rabbit started to struggle free again “Mommy, can I please keep him?”
“No!” Brax grabbed my hand “He just got a lizard, and it poops everywhere!”
The door pushed open again, and I saw Jaxson walking in wearing shorts, and covered in sweat, but the second he saw the boys, he growled.
“Adien, Braxton!” Jaxson scolded the boys, who looked down at their feet “What did I tell you?”
“Not to wake up, mommy” Braxton, the little boy who was jumping on the bed, said in a small voice.
“So what are you doing in here?”
“Waking mommy” He answered.
“I didn’t” Adien said smugly “She was already awake”
“You still came in here!” Brax pointed out “And you brought a rabbit with you!”
“ENOUGH!” Jax shouted, and the boys jumped a little “Addy, take that rat outside and put it back in the woods, we already told you that you’re not having any more pets, and the both of you had better go get ready for your fight lessons”
“Yes, daddy” They both said grumpily, and left.
“I swear, I now understand why my parents left us with nanny’s all the time”
I just watched them go, this couldn’t be real? Could it? Was this a dream or a vision? Why did it feel so real? I’d never been able to interact with anyone during a vision. What was this?
Jax smirked, and shook his head as the boys left, before he came over and kissed my forehead “Sorry” He said, as he knelt before me “I told them to let you sleep in, but of course, they take after Koda, anyway, how’s my little Cora”
“Cora?” I asked in confusion.
Jax looked up at me with a smirk “I know, I know” He said “You’re not a fan of Coraline, but just think about it, the name will grow on you” He stood up and ran his hands down my arms “Now that you’re up, why don’t you come shower with me, I promise to make it up to for the boys waking you up”
“Jax, listen” I stepped back, and he looked confused “I don’t know what’s going on”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t remember any of this” I gestured around me “The last thing I remember is being in the woods with Troy and Fenrir, and you died”
Jax looked at me for a moment, before laughing “Yeah right, you’re hilarious”
He shook his head and went to walk around me, but I grabbed his arm “I’m not joking, I don’t remember anything” I told him “I don’t remember being pregnant, I don’t remember those boys. Where are we? Where’s Koda? How are you alive?”
Jaxson’s face fell “You don’t remember anything?” He asked.
“No” I shook my head “Something wrong, I think I’m dreaming or something”
“Sweetheart, you’re scaring me, if you’re messing around, then stop it”
“I’m not” I touched his arm, but then I frowned and turned his head “Why does your mark look different?”
“You really don’t remember anything after that night with Troy, do you?”
“No” I started to panic as tears filled my eyes “What’s happening?”
“It’s okay, don’t freak out” Jax gently pushed me back to the bed and sat me down “Just take deep breaths, stress isn’t good for the baby”
“Where’s Cody?! Should we call him?”
Jax’s touched my cheek, as he knelt in front of me again “Koda’s… he’s not available right now, and I don’t want to worry him, I’m sure this is just a pregnancy thing. You had memory loss during the twin’s pregnancy too. It’ll pass soon, I promise”
“You don’t know that” I panicked as I gripped his arms “Please, we have to do something”
“Shh” He pressed his forehead to mine “It’s going to be okay, sweetheart”
“I feel dizzy” I told Jax, and leaned into his shoulder “Something’s wrong, I feel..’
Everything went dark and when I opened my tired eyes, and the strange dream began to fade from my mind. It had felt so real.
I took a breath to steady myself and was instantly engulfed with my mates scent’s, and my heart started to race. I blinked a few times, to clear my vision, and looked to my left to see Cody lying beside me with his eyes closed and snoring softly, and on my right, in another bed, but holding my hand, was Jaxson.
Jaxson? I looked at his chest, and saw it slowly raising and falling. Was he alive? Has my dream been real?
“JAXSON!” I shouted, and tried to sit up, when a searing pain ripped though my entire body, and I screamed in pain.
“MADDIE!” Koda shouted, as he sat up, and gently pushed me down “Don’t move baby, you’ll open up your back again”
“I’m okay, sweetheart!” Jax touched my face “I’m okay”
MADELYN’S POV
I was finding it difficult to breathe, and a few of the machines started beeping, as Koda quickly climbed off the bed.
“Please baby, try to calm down” He said, as the door opened and a nurse rushed in.
“It wasn’t a dream!” I reached over, as Jax slowly sat up and leaned over to “You’re alive, you’re alive”
“Shh” Jax kissed my forehead “Please don’t cry, everything’s going to be okay”
I burst into tears again, and I felt my body shaking “How could you do that?” I asked in anger “How could you believe Fenrir and drink that poison? He wasn’t going to kill me!”
“We couldn’t risk that”
“Baby, it’s alright, it wasn’t poison anyway” Koda ran his fingers through my hair “It was just a sleeping drug”
I sniffed, and wiped my cheeks, as I looked up into Jaxson’s eyes “It wasn’t poison?”
