“You used us for our reaction” I said angrily.
“Of course” My mother smiled, as if it was no big deal “The two of you have never learned to hide your emotions, we counted on that reaction. We want Ezra to think we trust him, and that you two dont, that way, he’ll be on edge around the two of you and not us, so we can use him”
“You’re terrifying” Ryker shook his head and smiled.
“That’s one word for them” I commented.
“Don’t be a child” My mother snapped “You’re nearly 100, stop thinking with your emotions”
“I thought it was our emotions you were trying to manipulate!” Jax shouted.
“Listen damn it!” My father leaned forward “Your uncle wants someone around Madelyn for a reason, we can use this to our advantage, and use Ezra the way Fenrir wants to, for the first few messages, we’ll need to give him real information about Madelyn, just in case Fenrir has other spy’s in her life, and we can lure Fenrir into thinking we’re falling for this cr*p, then we start getting information about him, and eventually find him”
“You should have told us about this before we went into that room” I complained.
“To be honest honey” My mother patted my leg “You and your brother aren’t the best actors, and we needed your distrust to look genuine, now, are you on board or not?”
“If this gets us Fenrir, then fine” I crossed my arms.
“Jaxson?” My father looked at him.
“Fine” He exhaled through his nose “But we’re telling Madelyn”
“It may only worry her” Ryker commented “And it’s not like she needs to know about Erza, and what if she refuses to pass on information?”
“I wasn’t asking for your opinion on my mate” Jaxson turned on him “We’re telling her”
“If you feel she needs to know, then so be it” Our father sat back and took my mother’s hand.
“When Ezra’s out of hospital, and we have his sister in the city, we can make our first move” My mother continued “We’ll wait for Ezra to reach out with questions from Fenrir, and then we’ll meet again”
“Fine” I nodded, as the car pulled into the tower’s parking lot.
“Don’t pout, boys” Our mother sighed “Alpha’s really are such emotional sooks, we had to do this”
“Excuse me?” Our father turned on her with a broad smirk “Who’s emotional?”
I ignored them, and we climbed out of the car, and went into the tower, while we rode up to our office in the elevator, Jax and I spoke about this situation. We were both furious that our parents had used us, but in the end decided that if we got closer to getting Fenrir, then we’d go along with everything.
“And, when this is all over, I get to finally kill him” Jax said happily.
After leaving the hospital and getting stuck into work for the day, Maddie linked us to make sure everything was alright, so we just told her all was well, and cut the link.
“We need to tell her what’s going on” I told Jax who was concentrating on his computer with a pen in his mouth “We promised”
“I know, and we will” He agreed “But she’s still healing”
“We can’t keep using that as an excuse”
“I know” He sighed “We’ll tell her in a few days”
“Speaking of Maddie though, we should talk to Noland too”
“I’ll link him, and we can talk during lunch”
“You want to ruin my lunch
We were eating lunch when Noland showed up, so I went to the door, and opened it.
“Noland” Jax gestured for him to come in “Take a seat”
I leaned back, and put my foot over my knee as he sat down.
“How’s Maddie?” He asked.
“Luna” Jax corrected, as he sat down in his chair “Don’t use her name”
“Seriously?” Noland asked “I think we’re a little past formalities, aren’t we”
“Never” I told him “We don’t care if you are her Keeper, she’s still above you, and you will use her title”
“If I am her Keeper” He said firmly “And again, I’m not saying I am, that means we’re partners, and thus, not above or below one another, you’re not the only ones who have a connection with her, and the two of you will need to come to terms with that, especially before her molt, because afterwards, we’ll be together”
“What molt?” Jaxson questions “Only a keeper would know what that is”
Noland looked annoyed “Can we stop playing games. What do you want?”
“You’re the one playing games” I pointed out “You won’t even admit that you’re her Keeper”
“What do you want” He repeated.
“We want to know everything about Phoenix’s” Jax answered “We want to know what to expect during her molt and the aftermath, we want to know about her father, and grandmother, we want to know about her mother”
“So, basically everything” He smiled “Don’t the two of you read? I’m sure there’s books on Phoenix’s in one of your many libraries”
Jax growled in frustration and rubbed his face “I’m really not in the mood” He warned him “We’ve had a sh*tty day, answer our questions”
“Please” I added “If you care about Maddie at all, you’ll help us to help her, and we can’t do that if we don’t know how”
“You don’t need to know how” He pointed out “That’s her Keepers job”
“What do you think is going to happen here?” Jax inquired “Do you think she’ll choose you over us? Because she won’t”
Noland laughed and shook his head “She bonded with the two of you because you were the first people in her life that were kind to her” He commented “It’s a trauma response, but with me, it’ll be a genuine connection of love and respect, marked or not, she will choose me, she will come home to us, just like her mother”
I growled angrily “Let’s try this again” I tried to calm myself down “Either, you answer our questions or we will kill you right here, right now”
“And how will Maddie feel about that?”
“She’ll never find out, so talk!”
He exhaled in annoyance “Fine” He leaned back comfortably “Phoenix one oh one, they fly, they can control fire, their tears”
“We know the basic’s” Jaxson snapped “What will happen during her molt?”
“Phoenix run cold, did you know that?” He asked “Everyone thinks it’s the opposite because they’re made of fire, but it’s not true, they get so hot it basically freezes you, I’m sure you’ve noticed her skin is cooler”
“Yes” I nodded, Maddie’s skin was a lot cooler then any Lycan I’d been with or touched, but I preferred it, Jax and I ran hot, and now that we were sharing a bed, Maddie’s presence kept us at a comfortable temperature.
