“I thought we were going to try being equals” I pointed out as we walked into the elevator.
“We are, just not when it comes to your safety” Koda answered.
“What about your safety, I don’t want you fighting dragons”
“We’ll be fine, we promise”
“Don’t do that” I cupped his face and pulled him to face me “Don’t promise me something you have no control over, it’ll only make me hate you if you die”
“How about this then” Jax moved closer and pressed his head against mine “We promised to do everything we can to come home to you, and if we die in a fight, just know we didn’t regret going because we died to keep you safe”
“How about you just don’t go, and you won’t die”
“We can’t do that, baby” Koda pressed his head to the other side of mine “We need to fight alongside our people”
“Then let me come with you”
“You’re not ready” Jax told me as the elevator came to a stop and Koda hit the button to stop the doors from opening.
“I have powers”
“Powers that you are still learning to control, and you still can’t fight” Koda argued gently “One day, when we can trust that you’ll be safe enough, you can fight alongside us, but as things stand right now, the answer is no, please trust us, you don’t want your first battle to be with dragons”
“Fine” I gave in “But at least let me stay with the pack”
The twins looked at each other for a moment before turning back to me “Fine” Koda agreed
“But if someone gets into that bunker who doesn’t belong to our pack, you use your powers, and you kill them” Jax told me firmly “Do not hesitate, do not let your compassion get in the way, do you understand me?”
“Yes” I nodded.
“Lets go” Koda said.
“Just kiss me first before we leave this elevator”
“That I can gladly agree too’ Jax smiled and kissed me, before Koda and then Jax hit the button to open the doors to the sound of the blaring sirens.
JAXSON’S POV
After shutting Madelyn into the bunker beneath the tower, which I truly hated, because, if a dragon got by us, our main tower would be a target, Koda and I shifted and our Lycan’s carried our pants towards the mountains.
We met up with our troops after an hour, where we were gathering in the field near the woods.
“We need to get our people into those trees” Ryker suggested, as we both pulled on our pants.
Koda ran over to a group of Lycans, handing out our gear and grabbed binoculars. Lycan’s had great eyesites but not even we could see as far away as the Viserion mountains. Even flying, they’d reach us in another hour.
“My Goddess Maddie is good” Koda looked back at me “She’s better than a damn alarm system, there’s eleven, and they’re definitely silver, they’ll be coming into view in about ten minutes. Thanks to Maddie’s warning, we’re in with a winning chance”
“Ryker” I turned to him “Get your team with the net cannons in those trees”
“On it!” He agreed “Lenix, round em up, I want half shifted and the other half at the top of the tallest tree’s they can climb!”
“Cole!” I looked over “I want those water hoses in place within the hour, and start wetting down the forest”
“Already doing it!” He nodded.
“Katsu!” Koda shouted to our General “I want our team spread out over the field”
“Yes, Alpha!”
“I want my team to wrap around and get behind them” Koda shouted out to the troops “I’ll join you soon, GO!”
I started walking over to Koda, when a hand reached out and touched my shoulder, and I spun to see Noland.
“Is Maddie safe?”
I growled and grabbed his throat “How many times do you need to be told to use her title” I asked and shoved him back.
“Yes, she’s safe” Koda answered as he came over to us.
“This many dragons in one place will make her sick”
“She’s not your responsibility” Koda snapped “Now get back to your damn unit, or I’ll have Katsu use you a bait!”
“You want to keep her safe?” I added, as he walked away “You help us kill every one of those sons of b*tches!”
Noland looked over to the mountains and smiled “I’ll kill them, don’t worry” He smiled “And I’m taking a fang as payment!”
“What ever, just f*cking go!” I growled in frustration as he shifted, and ran over to Katsu.
“I really hate that f*cking b*tch!” I linked Koda.
“Here’s hoping a dragon eats him” Koda smirked and hugged me “Stay safe”
“You too” I patted his back and stepped back “If something happens to me”
“Yeah, I know” He nodded “Me too”
Koda shifted and took off after his troops, and I prayed it wouldn’t be the last time I saw my brother.
“Let’s go!” Knox said excitedly “I want to bag a dragon!”
“Keep your head in the game” I ordered “It’s not a f*cking game, if we lose, they’ll go for the tower and burn the city to the ground, and in case it’s escaped your f*cking attention, our mates in that city”
“Well, it’s a good thing mate can’t be burnt” He commented “Now give me control!”
“See you on the other side, brother”
I let Knox have control and gave an excited howl before racing around our troops.
‘LISTEN UP!” Knox shouted at them through the link “THOSE DRAGONS ARE GOING TO COME AT US HARD, THEY’RE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE ON IN THE SKY, WAIT UNTIL RYKERS MEN TAKE THEM DOWN WITH THE NETS OR THE SPEARS, AND THEN YOU ATTACK, IF YOU HESITATE, YOU DIE, YOU RUN AWAY LIKE A F*CKING COWARD AND I’LL KILL YOU MYSELF!”
“Yes, Alpha!” They echoed in response.
“I WANT THE LYCAN’S WITH THE ABILITY TO CONTROL FIRE TO STEP FORWARD” I added.
Only three of my troops stepped forward.
