“Sure, dad, whatever you say”
Jax didn’t get up, he just reached over and punched my arm again.
“Do you ever shut up!” Jax asked.
“Sometimes” I closed my eyes smirked, as images of me between my girl’s thighs sprang to mind, I was always quiet doing that.
MADELYN’S POV
I hated this, I hated just waiting in the bunker, especially now that I knew Cody was injured.
After we’d entered the bunker, the Queen had pulled me around with her, to help soothe the pack, I didn’t know how she did it, I was a reck, but she seemed so calm and poised, and was even cracking jokes.
I tried to help but all I could focus on, was not linking my mates to check on them, because I knew that would distract them, but because my mind was on them, I kept missing conversations and pack members would have to repeat themselves. Finally, the Queen clued in that I was a lost cause right now and sent me over to Evet, who was playing with the children.
I was braiding a little girl’s hair when I felt sharp pains all over my body. The King and Queen who’d been sitting a conference table at the time, looked up as Evet quickly helped me up.
“Something’s wrong” I linked all three of them, but they kept telling me, I was imagining things. I tried to believe them, but when I felt the pains again, I finally gave in and linked Koda, who confirmed my worst fears.
After speaking with him, I stood up and went over to the King and Queen who were linking each other privately, or that’s what it looked like, as they were sitting close together and not speaking out loud.
“Koda’s injured” I told them through the link.
“We know darling” The Queen smiled comfortingly at me. So she knew he was hurt and had tried to convince me it was nothing?! “Come sit, you’re as white as a ghost”
“You are a Luna now” The King joined the link “You will keep your emotions in check so you don’t worry the pack. If you’re going to break down, do it in private” He pointed to his private bathroom.
I nodded and tried not to cry, but it was difficult.
Three hours later, we’d eaten dinner and night had fallen by the time the King announced that the threat had passed, and we could all leave.
I went to follow the pack anxious to get to the twins, but Evet held the back of the dress to stop me “The royal family leaves last” She told me “We make sure everyone’s out and then leave”
I growled in frustration, but I guess she was right, being a Luna was frustrating at times.
Finally, everyone was gone, and I looked at the Queen, who touched my face “They’re in the hospital, we can go”
I felt a rush of relief and quickly left the bunker and climbed into the car, but I couldn’t help but bounce in my seat, getting more and more annoyed by the slow pace we were driving, when Evet touched my leg and I felt a calmness wash over me.
I looked at her hand on my leg, and then up at her “Do you have powers?”
“Yes, why?”
“I was anxious, and now I’m calm. Did you do that?”
“Maybe, I just have a calming presence” She smiled and moved her hand before looking out the window. I frowned in annoyance, and looked at the King and Queen who were avoiding my eyes, and looking out their own windows, so I let it go, it wasn’t my business if Evet had power’s anyway.
When we reached the hospital, I tried to stay with the family, but when we walked out of the elevator, and smelt the twin’s scents, I over lapped them, and ran down the hallway.
“That girl needs to learn how to control her emotions” I heard the King comment, but I ignored him and ran into the room.
I saw Jax standing in the middle of the room talking to Cody who was in bed, being fussed over by a nurse. He had both legs wrapped, and both twins had burns and cuts, and my heart clenched in fear.
“Hey, sweetheart” Jax smiled as he turned to me.
I ran over and jumped into his arms, before I realized what I was going “Are you okay?”
“I’m good”
“Sorry” I said as I climbed down “I didn’t mean… you must be exhausted”
“I’m good” He repeated and winked, before I turned and rushed over to Koda.
I climbed onto the bed and hugged him “Are you okay?”
“I’ll be healed by tomorrow, don’t worry”
“I can heal you!”
“No, it’s fine” He shook his head “Conserve your energy, I’m okay to heal on my own”
“Madelyn get off that bed” The King complained as he walked in “You’re a Luna, behave as such”
“She’s fine, your majesty” Koda told him, he and Jax were always formal to their parents while we were in front of pack members, but I don’t think I’d ever get used it “I want her close, it helps me heal”
“What ever” King Theo waved his hand as he sat down, and looked at the nurse “You’re dismissed”
“Yes, sir” She bowed “But please make Prince Jaxson sit down too, he needs to rest but is refusing”
“I’m good, Joe” Jax smiled at her, but she looked frustrated and left.
“How are you both?” The Queen asked.
“All good, mother” Jax kissed her cheek.
“You heard the nurse, go sit”
“Mother, I’m fine”
“Jaxson come and sit down right now!” I shouted, and everyone stared at me in shock, as I sat up and pointed to the chair beside me.
“I’d do as you’re told, if I were you” Evet smirked, from where she stood by the door.
“Seems like the best idea” Jax smiled as he came over and kissed my forehead before sitting “Happy?”
“Yes” I nodded and snuggled back up to Koda.
“Give me a report” The King demanded as he sat back in his chair.
I listened in horror, I hated hearing about the fight and how many pack members we’d lost, and I hated knowing that the number would double, because they were all mated, and their mates would most likely kill themselves from grief.
“How’s Ryker?” The Queen asked, once Jax finished his report.
“No clue?” He shrugged “Should still be in surgery”
“We’ll go visit his family on the way out”
“Wife” Jax corrected “When I let Monica know what had happened, she asked if Blake could come, but I said no”
