‘Sweetheart’ I interjected and grabbed her by the shoulders ‘Why don’t you go wash your face and then come back to bed’
She didn’t speak, she simply nodded and walked away into the bathroom.
‘What the hell was that?’ Koda linked me as we stared at the bathroom door ‘I’ve never heard anyone scream like that from a dream before’
‘I don’t think it was a normal dream’ I said as I brushed my hair back out of my face ‘I think it was a memory, did you see how hard she was shaking. Maybe one of us should go into the bathroom and speak to her, she might feel less intimidated and more inclined to talk if it was one on one’
‘I don’t know’ He shrugged and sat down on the bed ‘She really didn’t seem to want to talk about it, let’s just give her some space for now’
‘Fine, but if she has another nightmare, we’re making her talk, agreed’
‘Agreed’
KODA’S POV
We waited for Maddie to come back, and together we climbed back into bed.
I was dying to know what she’d dreamed about that had caused her so much stress, but I had to let it go, she wasn’t ready to open up yet.
I pulled her close and snuggled back up against her back while she nestled against Jax who wound his fingers through hers and held her hand on his chest.
‘We’re here if you have another nightmare’ Jax told her as he pulled her hand to his lips and kissed her gently.
‘Thank you’ She said softly, I could still feel her slightly shaking, and it killed me to know she was so distraught.
Holding her tighter, I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep, I was having a wonderful dream when I felt something hit my arm and shake me slightly.
‘Koda!’ Jaxson said through the link, but I growled and swatted his hand away that was tapping my shoulder.
‘P*ss off!’
‘Get up and don’t wake our mate!’
‘No, go away’ I complained and nuzzled my face back into her hair ‘It’s my morning to sleep in, and I won the bet!’
‘Who cares about the stupid bet’ My brother hit my shoulder again ‘Get the hell up, it’s Madelyn’s first morning here, we’re making her breakfast’
‘Who decided that?’ I grumbled ‘Get Julia to do it and go away’
‘No, we’re making it for her’ He went on, and I felt a great desire to throw him from the balcony ‘Shes probably never had anyone make her breakfast, so we will. It’ll be a nice welcome gift, so get up you lazy dog!’
‘I swear sometimes you make me wish I was an only child!’ I complained as I finally opened my eyes.
Jax was already dressed in dress pants and a pale blue button up shirt with his sleeves rolled up, and his hair pulled back, how long had he already been awake for.
I turned and looked at the alarm clock beside the bed, it was only 6:25.
‘What the hell Jaxson!’ I glared at him ‘We could have slept longer and just taken her to breakfast in the dining hall!’
‘Just get your arse up’
Jaxson walked quietly out of the bedroom as I glared after him, but he was right, it would be nice for Maddie which was the only reason I gave in and got out of the warm bed.
Choosing to make breakfast over laying in bed with a gorgeous girl, what the hell was wrong with me.
I jumped into the shower and quickly washed up and got dressed in dark blue jeans and a white shirt sleeve shirt, I was taking Maddie shopping today, so I didn’t bother dressing up.
By the time I walked into the kitchen, Jaxson was already underway with everything.
‘Finally’ He complained as he whisked up some eggs ‘Start cutting up the tomatoes and grill them’
He pointed with his chin towards a cutting board and knife.
My brother knew I couldn’t cook, this was going to be interesting.
‘You’re only doing this to get even for me winning the bet’ I complained, but got to work.
‘I am not’ He argued but he had a slight smirk on his stupid face ‘Not everything is about you, this is about our girl and cut them properly’
‘I am’
‘They’re not even’ He complained ‘Everything has to be perfect’
‘I’ll give you perfect’ I growled ‘I will perfectly aim my foot up your’
‘Just shut up and cut the dam tomatoes’ He rolled his eyes at me
I growled and continued working on my task ‘I could be in bed with Maddie right now but no…’
Jax ignored me and continued cooking and occasionally ordering me with a task.
We were nearly done when I heard footsteps and looked up eagerly, only to realize it was Julia.
‘Good morning Alphas’ She said happily as she walked in
‘Morning’ We both greeted her.
‘Alpha Jaxson, the guards said someone dropped this off for you’
I looked over from the table where I was placing the last of the fruit and saw that she was holding a white bag.
‘Oh good, Maddies dress’ Jaxson smiled and put down a jug of juice.
‘Why did you buy her clothes?’ I asked as I walked over and took the bag from Julia ‘Im taking her shopping today’
I noticed Julia frown slightly when she looked at my throat, she was probably wondering why I wasn’t marked, I hated this, I was going to get these looks all day.
I chose to ignore her confusion and looked into the bag to see a blue dress and shoes.
‘I know but judging by her clothing last night, I doubt she has anything nice to wear’ Jaxson commented ‘And I am not having our mate dressed in sh*t, can you go give it to her and wake her up, I have to go soon’
‘Fine but if she hits me for waking her, I’m blaming you’
Jaxson laughed as I wandered off.
‘Once Madelyn’s awake you can go clean the room’ I heard Jaxson say to Julia ‘Until then, can you go clean the spare bathrooms, we used them last night’
‘Yes Alpha’ She responded, sounding very confused as to why we’d showered there and not our own one.
