They entertained themselves by shoving my childlessness in my face, taunting me with it.
The audacity.
Consumed by fury, I stormed toward Rosa, grabbing her without a word and throwing her onto the table. She let out a startled gasp as her head hit the edge, but I didn’t care.
My hands pried her legs apart, rough and unforgiving, and without warning, I plunged into her.
A sharp breath escaped her lips as she clung to the table, struggling to brace herself.
I am capable of producing an heir.
The words pounded in my head, turning into an obsessive chant.
With a few deep strokes, I found my release, spilling into her before pulling away and fastening my pants.
“My King-“
“What the fuck is it, Jasper?!” I snarled, slamming my fist against the table, the wood groaning under the force.
“I just wanted to inform you that Aurora is with Alex. They’re outside your wing.”
The storm inside me calmed in an instant.
My heart skipped with anticipation.
“Tell the guards to let her in,” I said, closing the mind link.
“‘Leave, Rosa!” I ordered, walking away from her while she got clad and left my room.
Finally, she was here.
The mere thought of her sent a rush of excitement through me, my body reacting instantly.
Even after just having sex, the desire for her burned stronger than ever.
I didn’t care if she was ready for me or not.
I wanted her.
As the car sped past the Diamond Heart pack’s border, I cried until there were no more tears left to shed.
The farther we drifted from my father’s pack, the more I felt an unsettling disconnection, as if a piece of me was being severed. Unconsciously, I began to embrace a new reality.
A cruel one.
Through blurred vision, I kept my eyes fixed on the back of the car, staring through the tinted glass, hoping-praying-that I would see my parents’ figures emerge from the thick cloud of dust.
I wished for a miracle, for some twist of fate that would see them sneaking me away, stealing me back before the hulking man beside me could notice.
But life wasn’t a fairytale.
The dust billowed behind us as the car surged forward, leaving behind the gravel roads and merging onto smooth asphalt.
A second black SUV followed closely behind.
I couldn’t help but wonder who was inside.
Bodyguards, perhaps?
Resigned to my fate, I curled up into a ball, hugging my knees to my chest as I stared blankly at the sleek black leather seat beneath me.
I tried to silence the storm of thoughts raging in my mind, but they refused to leave me in peace.
What did it mean to become the Alpha King’s property?
The more I tried to imagine, the emptier my mind became.
Despite being treated like a servant for years, I had never been claimed as property.
But the horror in my parents’ eyes when they received the news told me enough.
How bad was it?
Being his property meant I belonged to him.
For life.
And he could do whatever he wanted with me.
I was just a property. My feelings were irrelevant, my opinions were trash, and my sole purpose was to please him until my last breath. Panic seized me as I realized that I was living for the Alpha King. All my goals and future achievements in life were now in the past. My life was in King Damon’s hands. I was only alive because he permitted it, and if he wished, he could order my termination.
The more I thought about that, the louder the alarm rang in my head. Driven by an unknown force, I rested my gaze on the man whose eyes were fixed on the road. He didn’t notice me, right? He was wearing dark sunglasses, so I couldn’t tell if he was watching me or not. But I would take my chances. Who knows? Maybe this was the push I needed to change my horrible fate.
Slowly, my hand crept toward the car door, leaning on it briefly before attempting to open it.
“That was a foolish move,” his harsh voice boomed, making me jump in fright as I was about to push the door open.
My hand froze in place, and my heartbeat accelerated. It felt like my heart would burst out of my chest at the rate it was pounding. Confusion hit me hard as I withdrew my hand, lowering my gaze to the floor. I didn’t know whether to apologize or sit still as if nothing had happened.
I dismissed the idea of lying that popped into my head. There was no point-he had already caught me.
Sad and scared, I sniffed as tears struggled to fall from my eyes. It seemed I had exhausted all my tears.
The air in the car was so tense it made my nose block. I sniffed, trying to relieve the pressure, but an angry growl sent fear coursing through me. My trembling hands dropped to the seat as I looked away silently.
Soon, tiredness hit me like a bulldozer. I yawned, stretching myself before curling up again.
Numbness and weakness consumed me as I drifted deeper into my thoughts.
“Once you’re in, there is no backing out.”
I wasn’t sure if I had imagined his words or if he had truly spoken them, but they echoed in my mind like a cruel reminder.
Afraid to meet his gaze, I kept staring into the void, lost in my own despair.
He was right. I was trapped with the Alpha King-forever.
A profound emptiness spread through me, hollow and unrelenting, threatening to swallow me whole.
But I didn’t fight it.
There was nothing left to fight for.
My life had already been taken from me.
It felt as if cold, unyielding metal had wrapped around my heart, squeezing tighter with every passing second.
I couldn’t stop thinking about my parents.
How were they coping without me?
Especially my mother-was she beside herself, acting as if she had lost her mind?
The thought of our separation only deepened the ache in my chest, widening the hollow space inside me.
I never realized how painful leaving them would be.
And the cruelest part of it all?
