I was getting extremely furious at how depressed my mate was, she thought so little of herself, and it was all because of those f*cking half-breed dogs.
She was above them even without being our mate and they made her believe her entire life that she was nothing and I would make them pay for it.
‘Here’ I pulled out a chair for her that sat in-between mine and Koda’s ‘Come sit down and eat, you’ll feel better’
‘Thank you’ She smiled and sat down as she continued to wipe her face.
I looked at Koda, who was just as upset as I was.
‘That pack is going to f*cking burn’ He said privately to me through the link and I nodded and sat down.
‘Take whatever you like’ I smiled and kissed her hand again ‘So I was thinking, maybe we could each tell each other something about ourselves to get to know each other better, and maybe it’ll help you feel more at ease’
‘Okay’ She said happily and started putting some toast and eggs on her plate.
Once I was satisfied that she was eating, I looked at Koda ‘You go first’
‘It was your idea’ He laughed and grabbed some of the sausages.
‘Ok fine’ I frowned as I thought ‘I.. oh, I love painting, it helps with my temper, it calms me down when I get mad, I’ll show you my studio later’
‘Ok’ She smiled ‘Did you do all the paintings in the suite?’
‘It depends. Do you like them?’
Madelyn laughed and nodded ‘They’re beautiful’
I felt a rush of pride and my ego inflated a tiny bit.
‘Thank you and yes, I painted them’
‘Why do you get mad a lot?’ She asked me and I noticed a slight nervous edge to her tone.
‘Its nothing you have to worry about’ I told her quickly ‘. I’d never hurt you, no matter how mad I get, but I don’t really know why I lose it more then Koda. Maybe I got all the temperament of an Alpha, and he got the…’
‘The looks’ Koda interrupted and Madelyn smirked at him.
‘No’ I threw a grape at him ‘The control’
‘He’s an emotional artist’ Koda teased me ‘You know the type’
Madelyn laughed again. I really loved hearing her so happy.
‘Not really’ She shrugged ‘I never really interacted with anyone in my old pack, just the Alphas family and a few others. I mostly kept to myself’
‘You didn’t have any friends?’ I asked.
‘No’ She answered ‘It never really bothered me though, I hated all of them, I’m glad I never have to go back there’
‘Me too’ Koda smiled.
‘You don’t think that the elders will make me, do you?’ She asked nervously ‘What if’
‘We told you last night’ I interrupted her ‘It would never happen, Troy is just wasting his time’
‘Besides’ Koda smiled and brushed her hair back over her shoulder ‘We’d just kill Scott, if they did say, you had to accept him, so either way, you’re stuck with us’
Madelyn looked nervous by his words, but she nodded and took a bite of her toast, did she doubt us, did she actually think we’d let Scott take her?
‘Tell us something about you’ I urged her.
She looked uncomfortable for a second before she looked from Koda to myself.
‘Koda didn’t say anything yet’ She threw him under the bus.
‘Okay’ He said and took a bite of food while he thought ‘I like designing, I’ve designed alot of the newer buildings in the city’
‘Did you design the one I stayed at with Alpha Troy?’
‘Which one was that?’
‘Oh, I don’t know’ She answered ‘Its the one carved into the mountain’
Koda smiled ‘I did, did you like it?’
‘I did, it was so beautiful’ She gushed, and I loved seeing her light up ‘I really loved all the stone and everything’
‘Really’ My brother said thoughtfully, and looked around the kitchen.
Great, I knew that look, he was going to start re-doing our suite again, we moved out of our parents suite when we turned 18 and Koda redid our one every few years when he got bored and now, thanks to Madelyns comment, I knew he was going to change things up again
‘Ok, your turn’ I said eagerly and a little to distract my brother from his damn thoughts that, no doubt would cause me a few sleepless nights due to construction.
‘I um..’ She looked nervous again ‘I have powers’
‘Really’ Koda said excitedly, and I noticed Madelyn looked relived, did she think this would bother us ‘So do we. Well, most Lycans do, but we never thought you would. What can you do?’
‘A few different things’ She said vaguely ‘I can control the elements’
She raised her hand and a stream of water rose from the jug before she slowly closed her hand and the water fell softly back down.
‘Its alot easier without those stupid cuffs’ She commented and looked at her wrists, thankfully they were practically healed.
Koda took her hand and kissed her wrist ‘No one will ever put something like that on you again, how is Ava?’
‘She’s still really out of it’ She answered ‘I keep hearing random words but nothing coherent, she keeps mumbling mate’
Koda and I smiled, our Lycan’s were very eager to meet her.
‘Its going to be so strange having her back’ Madelyn went on ‘I only had her for an hour before he put the cuffs on me, I couldn’t feel her after that, but I always knew she was with me, I would talk to her all the time, you probably think I’m crazy’
‘Never’ I shook my head ‘Id talk to Knox’s all the time too if something like that happened to me’
‘What powers do you guys have?’ Madelyn asked as she took another bite of food.
‘Just this and that’ Koda answered ‘We can share each other’s powers, feel each other’s pain, we can see through the other ones eyes’
‘I can grow plants and flowers and things like that’ I added ‘And Koda can control some animals’
