Chapter 28 – Alice the Reluctant Luna

“Lucian is extremely dangerous, I am afraid of what he might do if I tell him about Mark. You saw how he arrived to get me from our pack.”

“So, how are your grand plans of rejecting the mate bond going on?” She asked mockingly.

“Not very terrific,” I said softly, recalling the kiss we shared just a few moments ago.

“Did you have sex already?”

“Hell No! I have been resisting. Though he is very persuasive.”

I could hear Emma laugh.

“I am surprised you have lasted this long. He will not wait, Alice, and it is not fair to keep him waiting. Just tell him everything. He would understand. You are soulmates.” Her words made me wince.

“Don’t make me feel worse, Emma, I am already dying with guilt,” I mumbled.

“It will all be over soon, Alice, and you will find your rightful place,” Emma said.

Whatever boost up I had got after talking to Emma, drained out the moment I called Mark.

“You know my parents are dying to meet you, when are you returning?” Mark said.

I caught a lock of my hair and twirled it between my fingers.

“After the vacations, hopefully,” I mumbled.

“What do you mean hopefully? Don’t tell me you have become that fond of your eccentric aunt living in the middle of nowhere that you don’t want to return to London?” He chuckled.

I gave a nervous laugh.

“That’s not the case Mark, I have to return to London, to talk to you.”

“You are talking to me now, sweetheart? What’s the problem?”

I chewed my lips nervously; I could not explain to him my situation on a call! It would be selfish; he might get freaked out.

“I can’t explain it on the phone, Mark, but I will once we meet. I promise.”

“Ok, I can live with that, miss you, babe. Love you. He spoke.

” Miss you too, I love you, Mark,” just not the way you want. I thought to myself. A familiar scent alerted me, and I immediately turned around.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, keeping away the phone. The colour drained off my face as I stood face to face with Savannah.

“I… I came here to discuss the pack barbecue……” Savannah was staring at me with an unreadable expression.

She did not have to say anything. I knew she had heard everything.

Alice (POV) –

“What did you hear?” I asked cautiously.

Savannah pressed her lips and looked down, “everything.”

“Damm! ” I sighed and rubbed my temple.

“I am sorry, I didn’t mean to… I wasn’t intruding, Alice. But, now I understand why you are still unmarked.” She said in a very placid tone. I could not understand how she was going to take this. As a beta, her loyalties would always lie with her Alpha.

“It’s not that simple, Savannah,” I sighed.

“Why don’t you explain it to me, if you can trust me? I know how to keep a secret.” She smiled, it seemed genuine enough.

“How can you keep a secret from your Alpha?”

“What I mean is you can share your issue with me, maybe I can provide you with

a solution to this problem. Lucian and I have been friends for a long time. I know him quite well. I might be able to help.” She insisted.

For a moment, I wondered did Savannah and Lucian date. But that thought seemed stupid. He had assured me he did not date, anyone from the pack except Eliza, so my suspicion was misplaced.

“Alright, let us take a seat. I will explain everything.” I spoke.

Lucian (POV) –

The meeting of the Alphas had been completely useless. The 6 Alphas argued nonstop, refusing to listen. Rick suggested putting a team together to look for the rogues, but Carson was furious, he objected to having wolves from other packs on his land. Michelson and Radisson, who had yet, to have a visit from the rogues, we’re hesitant to get involved.

“You people know that the rogue attacks will happen on your land eventually, so why not take precautions,” I said aloud, trying to convince the thick heads.

“We can handle the external threats easily; our lands are secured enough.” Radisson bragged.

“I am sure you can, but how would you handle the internal threats?”

The Alphas were quiet for a moment, thankfully.

“The rogues who kidnapped my mate were from my pack,” I said quietly.

As usual, there was an uproar, along with different reactions. Rick stood up with

his betas ready to attack. My Betas responded likewise.

“Wait….what! Did you find your mate? “Asked Carson, looking incredulous.

I nodded at him.

“Just shut up, all of you!” I shouted. It was odd, as I was the youngest Alpha present there, yet these grown men were behaving worse than toddlers.

“Rick, I did not kidnap your sister, nor did I order it, I am in no mood to fight with you,” I said looking at Rick. He nodded at his Betas, who slumped back in their positions.

“Now listen! Everyone, just a few days back I stumbled upon my mate, Alice Anderson. Rick’s sister.”

A few Alphas gasped. I ignored them.

“She was kidnapped by a few rogues and rescued by me. Those rogues were runway wolves from my pack. I am sure you will find a similar pattern in your packs if you investigate. Some young wolves are getting misguided by someone, and they are turning rogue.”

“But why would young wolves do that. My pack is well-disciplined. Maybe yours isn’t.” Said the Alpha Adam Connor. For some reason, I never liked him.

I glared at him.

“Your discipline is useless when someone external has been influencing them.” “What do you mean?” Connor asked.

“It means our youngsters are being lured into working for someone, they are being manipulated and brainwashed into turning rouge,” I explained.
