Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 29 – Deceiving my Big Bad Alphas (Kai Savage) Novel Free Online Free by Nina P

I paused. Back to the wall. Tilted my head just enough.

Couldn’t make out the words at first too much overlap, two voices speaking fast. Familiar tones. Siblings. The Hollowedmoon Twins.

One of them was on the phone, the other pacing, from the sounds of shifting footsteps.

I caught fragments.

“…not yet.”

“What if she doesn’t even know?.”

“We’re waiting for the full alignment-“

“-gift must be received before the…”

None of it made fu.cking sense. Witch crap? Rituals? Something to do with the Gala?

I should’ve walked.

Should’ve kept going. Mind my business.

But then-

“…the golden wolf had to be taken.”

And the world inside my skull snapped sideways.

Taken?

I leaned in a little too fast, breath spiking, heartbeat suddenly in my throat. My palm hit the wall to steady me, but my eyes were locked on the crack in that door.

They were still talking. Still moving.

One of them laughed again, dry and sharp.

“It’s already in motion. All we need is the blood.”

Blood?

Blood of who?

Blood of what?

My chest was tight again, but not the same as before.

This wasn’t obsession.

This was something darker.

Someone was planning something.

Something bad.

Something fu.cked.

And it had to do with a golden wolf.

Kai?

No. Too obvious. Too literal.

But what if…

What if it was a code?

What if it was them?

Kai always wore that chain that delicate one- gold, glinting just under her collarbone like a whisper. And their eyes caught the light like metal, warm and bright, like sunlight trapped in amber.

Golden.

My breath hitched.

If they laid a single hand on her-

If they were even thinking about hurting her-

The taste of copper filled my mouth.

I stepped back. Quiet. Careful.

My brain was already reeling, recalibrating.

No more walks.

No more distractions.

If something-someone- was coming for Kai, I needed to be three steps ahead.

No one touches what’s mine.

Not Reyes. Not the twins.

Not anyone.

DERRICK POV

I watched Kai walk away like it didn’t rip something raw out of me.

They said they needed space.

I gave it. Kind of.

Not because I wanted to.

Fu.ck no.

Every cell in my body screamed to follow. To shove Dalton’s smug face into the dirt and take what was mine. But I didn’t. Not yet.

Letting Kai go wasn’t weakness. It was strategy.

Because Dalton? That bastard was two seconds from trailing me if I so much as moved in Kai’s direction. He thought this was a game of dominance. Thought he could puff up his chest and mark his territory by staring at Kai too long and standing too close.

Cute.

Let the mutt pretend he’s in control.

I don’t play games. I win them.

And I’d win Kai.

Not by force – I didn’t need that.

Kai already wanted me. They just didn’t know how to admit it with Dalton breathing down their neck like a fucking shadow.

But I’d corner them when they were alone.

And that moment?

That moment was coming.

I could feel it in my bones.

The same way I felt Kai before they entered a room. The same way my skin itched with heat every time their scent curled around my ribs and made my heartbeat skip like it forgot who it belonged to.

They were mine.

Always had been.

From the first time I saw them – angry, guarded, mouth full of venom and eyes full of secrets. A walking contradiction. Sharp and soft. Fire wrapped in ice.

I wanted all of it.

The rage. The silence. The raw, broken things they tried so hard to hide.

Let Dalton chase after a label.

Whatever the fuck Kai wanted to be called that day.

Me?

I saw what was underneath.

And I wanted that.
