I start tearing up and lean over to give him a hug. “Thank you so much. This is my very first birthday present. I wouldn’t let Nicole or Jessica get me anything because I didn’t want them to think that I was friends with them to get stuff from them. Their friendship was all I needed. So, we would just do a sleepover and we would make a cake, and honestly, that was all I needed from them. Dixon, I love my necklace, it is perfect. But you don’t have to get me anything again, you are my friend and that is the perfect gift for me.”
“What! You have never had a birthday present Jade? I got you your first present, now wish I had gotten you something even nicer now, like some matching earrings or something.” Dixon said. The look he has on his face makes me feel bad for telling him.
“Dixon, when you have never had something, you just don’t miss it. You only miss something if you have it taken away from you. So, I am ok, and I love this necklace. It is perfect and I love it.
My father then says, “Jade, tomorrow we will be going into town, I would like to get you a gift for your birthday as well. Tyler was wanting to get something for his birthday too and if Tate decides he wants one while we are here, I guess we will be getting three of them tomorrow. I am so sorry I missed so many of your birthday’s Jade. I plan on making it up to you. We can meet you in the dining room at 11 am tomorrow for lunch and head out after lunch if that is ok with you?”.
“Dad truly you do NOT have to get me anything. I have what I need, and I was thinking about getting a job to cover my necessities. I really do have everything that I need right now. You don’t have to do that, you didn’t know I existed, just like I didn’t know that you existed. It was neither of our faults. Things just happened and you don’t have to make up for anything at all. You were great this morning telling Eric and Jeremy to never come back. You stood up for me when you didn’t even really know me. I am so thankful that I have you all now. But I would love to go with you on your errand. I really enjoy spending time with you all” I tell them.
I cannot believe how badly my daughter has been treated. She is so sweet and kind. She appreciates everything that she has been given because she hasn’t been given much in her short life. I am so proud of how well she has done in her life, even with all her setbacks. She is a smart and beautiful young lady, with a good head on her shoulders. Any man would be glad to call her his mate. I will be covering whatever her scholarships don’t cover for her time at college. Tyler will be going to Alpha training in August and will be there until he graduates in May as he will be taking over the pack after he graduates from it, and it takes a year’s time, with breaks throughout the year, just like for college. If memory serves that is where Alpha Andrews’s oldest son Asher Morris is right now. He is supposed to graduate in May and then return to take over this pack as soon as he finds his mate.
I had already spoken with Joy when were got back to our room after Tyler had his first shift. I was so proud of both my children and so impressed with both of their wolves. They also had the same green eyes as I did in my wolf form. I wanted to do something special for them and I already knew that Jade has a motorcycle, so it just made sense to go tomorrow and get them all a new bike. Tyler and Tate had both been researching bikes and knew that they both wanted Ducati’s. Tate’s birthday was in 6 months and his would-be early, but it was only fair for them all to get them together as a bonding experience. I was also going to get Jade another surprise as well tomorrow. I wanted her to have a vehicle as well, so she could take her friends around if she wanted to and it would be safer for her to use it to come and visit us at our pack. An unaccompanied female on a bike is just not safe on the highway, so I will be getting her a Jeep tomorrow as well. I am so excited to be able to get her something that she would love and treasure, as well as keep her safe as she travels from her pack to ours. I am really looking forward to getting out and going shopping tomorrow.
Tyler looked over at his sister, and then over at Tate and knew that Tate was thinking the same thing that he was. Poor Jade, how much could one person go through? If she was tearing up over a necklace, then she was probably going to pass out tomorrow. I had asked Dixon earlier what kind of a bike Jade had and he told me it was an old Honda, but that she had done repairs on it and really taken care of it. When dad asked what I thought Jade might want for her birthday I told him the same bike that Tate and I wanted. It was a strong and fast bike. Jade was going to love it. I already knew which model we wanted to get. A Ducati Monster 821. I was getting the black one, and Tate wanted a red one so that the shopping trip would be quick. I don’t blame dad for getting Tate’s early, since my and Jade’s birthdays are back-to-back, it wouldn’t be far for him to have to wait, and we could all drive our bikes back to the packhouse afterward for our first ride together.
I know that dad is also going to get Jade a vehicle tomorrow and I was planning on helping her pick it out. Tate and I share a black, 4-door Jeep Rubicon in our pack, and I think that Jade would like one too. It is all-terrain, and it would be safer for her to drive it when she comes to our pack than the motorcycle would be. I watch Jade speak animatedly with Dixon and I can tell they are just friends, I am watchful because although she is technically my older sister, by a day, she doesn’t even have to go through the kind of heartache that she went through before she got to Stone Moon. Tate and I were going to make damn sure of that. Whenever she decided to go back to Howling Wolf to accept that tool’s rejection, Tate and I were going to be there too. He won’t hurt her ever again.
I spoke too soon, a few hours later at 11 pm, when we were all going to the elevator, I barely caught my sister as she started screaming and falling to the floor. She would have hit the floor if I hadn’t been walking right next to her, I could tell she was in agony and trying not to let us know how bad she was hurting. I look up at my dad and by the anger on his face, I knew he knew exactly what the problem was. Tate’s jaw was tight, and I know that he was furious as well. I may just end up killing Calvin, to free my sister up from having to deal with this. That would keep her from having this happen to her again I think as I carry her into the elevator, and we go to take her up to her room.
We take her down the hallway on the Gammas end, and we are thankful to be just down the hallway from her, I am glad that the Beta allowed us to use his empty rooms, instead of us being away from her on the top floor. That would be too much distance and I was wondering how we are going to be able to leave here tomorrow. I feel like we have a special bond like we are twins (from different mothers). Don’t get me wrong, I love Tate and would kill for him as well. But he can take care of himself, and I feel so much more protective of Jade. I don’t know if it is because we are a day apart, what she has gone through, or if she hasn’t had the training to be able to defend herself. It could be all of the above. I place her gently on her bed, and Nicole and Jessica enter the room behind us and tell us that they will help change her for bed, that they helped her last night too.
Nicole says, “Don’t worry, she will be feeling better soon”.
I hate leaving her, even though I know Nicole and Jessica will take care of her. I don’t know how I got so connected to her so quickly, but our sibling bond is as strong as the bond between me and Tate, and we have been together for 17 and a half years. I am scared of the connection being so strong already. I will defend my sister to death if I need to. Goddess helps anyone who tries to hurt her. They will end up in a world of hurt, I think as I exit Jade’s room.
I had decided not to go back to my pack tonight. I am still at Alpha Training and not quite an hour away from the Stone Moon pack, but I had a date with a human girl that I had met at a local coffee shop yesterday, and I already knew the new Gamma family personally as it is my Uncle Bryan (and Aunt Aubrey, and my Cousin Nicole) so I didn’t feel like I needed to come to the Gamma ceremony.
