Chapter 31 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“Goodmorning, LeeAca.” She says,

“Morning Red.” I say back. “Are you excited for your first day of training?” I ask.

“Actually, yes. I wanted to apologize for how I responded yesterday about it. You know I used to dream about being a warrior. In some ways this will allow me to live out my dream.” She says getting excited and nervous.

“You know, I had a feeling that after some time thinking about it, you would warm up to the idea. And who knows, maybe if you show up and do well, your dreams may come true.” I say back smiling.

“Oh, I couldn’t do that. I’m kind of nervous for today though. What if they berate me about being an Omega and um.. A servant?” She asks slowly.

“Ignore them, learn what you can, then when it comes time, beat the sh*t out of them.” I say. She looks up in surprise at my answer and I chuckle. Maleena walks out of the bedroom looking like she just woke up.

“Yea just beat the sh*t out of them. That’s what I would do.” She agrees sleepily and sits at the small island we are standing around. I look at Redna and feel her embarrassment.

“Redna this is my sister Maleena. I am not sure if you have heard, but she will be staying here with me. Do you know if there is a room close to mine available?” I ask trying to change the subject. She looks back at me in confusion.

“You don’t want her to stay here in the other bedroom?” Red asks.

“Other bedroom?” Maleena and I ask at the same time.

“Yes. I’ve always wondered why you had it hidden. The door to it is behind the TV.” She says pointing to where the TV shelf is. I am still confused because the TV is in a built-in bookshelf. I walk over to it and move the TV a little. I see something that might look like a door but it blends in with the bookcase. I go to the shelf below it that has books on it and start taking the books out. Sure as sh*t there is a door knob. What the hell? I start taking the books off of the shelves, while Redna and Maleena come over to help. After everything is off the shelves covering the door I reach through and open the door. I look through and see another room. I climb through the shelves into the room and see that it is extremely dirty. “Is this apartment just a last minute thing that was just thrown together? The layout doesn’t make any sense.” I say to Redna, who is still in the living room.

“The castle was remodeled about 50 years ago. This floor used to be just rooms with a shared bathroom for the Beta and Gamma, but they wanted their own homes. To do this, the late King combined the rooms and added bathrooms for his Beta and Gamma. This apartment was just an afterthought, they just added a bathroom and moved doors to make it.” She answered. Well that makes a lot of sense now. I climb back to the living room and see that is it almost 07:15. Red’s training starts at 08:00.

“She will stay here Red. Thank you for telling us there is another room.” I look to Maleena. “You and I will get everything cleaned up and we can go shopping for things you need.” I say and she lights up. She loves shopping. “Redna it’s almost time for training. Go. I will see you later.” I say but I feel her discomfort.

“You can’t clean this, I should be the one to, I am your maid.” She says.

“You are my maid, but not Maleena’s.” I say trying to make her feel a little better. “Now go get ready or you will be late.” I say to her. She reluctantly turns around and walks out.

I look to Maleena. “Go get ready.” She takes off to the bedroom. It’s almost 07:30. Somebody knocks on the door and I go to answer it. Amara walks in. We were supposed to get our morning coffee together. She may not be too awake yet, but she will like the project.

You ready? She asks.

“Not yet.” I say and she looks at me a little confused and grumpy. Maleena comes bouncing out of the room she didn’t even brush her hair. She just threw it up in a bun and it looked like a bird’s nest. I give her a stern look. “Go get finished. I’m not going anywhere.” I say, leaving no room for argument. She groans then goes to the bathroom.

Amara looks at me expantly.

“That is my sister Maleena. Our father sent her here to stay with me.” I say.

Why didn’t you tell me? Amara asks accusingly.

“I just found out yesterday. I thought you would have heard about it already. She made quite an entrance yesterday.” I say.

“No. I didn’t hear about it.” She answers.

“Well, I’ll tell you about it over coffee. If you’re not busy today we have a project we need help with.” I say and it perks her interest.

“I’m listening.” She says. I walk her over to the bookcase and show her the open door behind it.

“What the hell?” Is all she says, looking into the bedroom.

“Exactly my thoughts. I want to rip out the bookcase and we need to redo the room for Maleena.” Her eyes light up. I knew she would like the idea. She loves those remodeling shows.

“SOLD. While we’re at it, why don’t we redo the whole place? It is kind of ugly in here and the layout makes no sense. It has a lot of potential.” She says excitedly.

“I had a feeling you would say that.. I dont have the funds to redo the whole place. Just get the essentials for Maleena.” I said to her.

“Oh nonsense, you are the future Queen, you don’t need your funds. Just leave that to me, I have a royal credit card. Basically, it’s my brother’s.” She says. I sigh knowing that she will buy the things with or without my consent. Maleena comes out, looking a lot nicer than before.

“Coffee time.” Says Amara as she walks out the door. Maleena looks at me weird.

“You heard her. It’s coffee time. Let’s go.” I say as I walk towards the door. Maleena rushes to follow me.
