Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 33 – Not Just The Beta (Oriana & Slade) Novel Free Online by Jennifer Francis

This might not end so well, she realised, as she prowled around inside her room and could only wait for what the fallout would be. She might have to out herself to Alpha Roman, tell him that she was pregnant with his own son’s pup, the next generation Heir. In order to stop them all from being banished out of the pack.

He would never banish his own grandchild.

This was turning into a nightmare, whatever was going on down there in the pack with everyone, it was spiralling out of control.

It was hours later and there was just nothing, no explanation of what happened. Not from her dad, her mom, not even from the Alpha, or Luna, there was no formal punishment dished out, and not even her dad had come up here and rounded on her. Yell at her for whatever the hell he was mad at her for. There was just nothing, it was really weird and starting to bother her.

Maybe her dad hadn’t been the one that started it. That was all she could think. Maybe Alpha Roman had attacked her dad first. She sighed a little heavily, she didn’t bloody know and couldn’t go down there and ask not with that pup growing inside her.

She mind-linked to her mother at 9pm ‘mum?’ she should have the answers by now and Ori needed to know what they were, how much trouble their family was in or not.

‘It’s fine dear. Just two boys and their egos out of control and unchecked, that was all nothing to worry about. Elise literally smacked the pair of them up the back of their heads for their own stupidity. Don’t concern yourself with it, everything is fine, I assure you.’

‘Are they okay now?’ She asked.

‘Yes, having a drink in the Alpha’s bar like normal after a long day, like nothing happened at all actually, I believe. It is what it is, and it’s been sorted out and resolved, no longer an issue apparently, so all is well don’t stress over it.’

‘Why did he yell at me?’ She asked the question, she wanted to know the answer to. She didn’t even know what she’d done wrong.

‘Who knows dear, it wasn’t even about you as far as I’m aware, he’s just ticked off. Likely because his little girl has been ignoring him for two and a half weeks now. It bothers him greatly, my dear, I know you don’t think it does, but it actually does. Perhaps a nice family dinner for the four of us together, would resolve his anger and issues, and then he could calm down a little.’

She thought about that for 10 seconds and then answered ‘no’ flatly. She was actually still mad at him down there, but mostly it was just self-preservation to keep anyone from hearing that little pup’s heartbeat.

‘You can’t be mad at him forever, you know that right, he’s your dad.’ She heard her mother sigh as she spoke.

‘Yes, I can.’ She muttered and cut the mind-link, she needed to keep everyone away from her right this minute. She wasn’t showing yet, thankfully, but she didn’t think it would be much longer either. But she’d found out that if she put China’s wolfen hearing to it, she could actually detect that quick one-two flutter of her unborn pup; she had heard it yesterday for the first time. Which meant so could anyone else now.

Though no one would likely do that to her, put their wolfen hearing to listen to her insides. They all knew she’d never had a boyfriend. Her pregnancy was so far left-field, that no one would even think of it, and one didn’t just go around listening with their wolfen hearing to other wolves’ bodies.

Most didn’t even switch their hearing on normally, unless they were listening for something in particular, having your sensitive wolfen hearing activated all the time in a wolf pack, would just lead one to hear wolves getting all hot and heavy all the time. Having sex all over the pack; out in the woods or behind a closed door, in a communal bathroom or closet somewhere. It just wasn’t done.

She also knew no one would suspect anything like that about her, until her belly actually popped and suddenly wasn’t flat. And she was going to cover that with her baggy oversize men’s shirts she’d bought online for just that.

Ori flopped down onto her bed. This week was the longest one of her life, it seemed. She had to go and pick Slade up in just three days, and she was more than nervous about doing that. It had yet to be given to Hayden to do; it was currently still her job, it seemed.

She was actually more than a little nervous about doing that, but she couldn’t avoid it. She did actually need to be the one to go and get him, so that they could talk privately on the drive back. They were likely going to need those six hours on the drive back to sort this issue out.

Oriana

Ori mind-linked to Roman the night before she was to go and pick up Slade, to ask him that very question, she’d still not heard if it was still her going or if he’d told Hayden to, and she wanted to know. If he’d picked Hayden to do it. She was going to slash all of that boy’s car’s tires during the night and then just get in her car and go herself, would leave a nice note on his window to state ‘It’s my fucking job, I’ve gone to get Slade.’

‘Yes, Ori, you’re still the future Beta, Slade will be expecting to be picked up by 3pm. Drive safely…though, you should come down and have breakfast with all of us before you leave.’

‘Probably.’ She stated and closed the mind-link. That wasn’t going to happen, not with two bloody Gammas at that table, a freaking Luna that was obsessed with babies and pregnant she-wolves. Elise actually took time every day, spending an hour sitting drinking tea and having cake, chatting in a group with all the pregnant she-wolves of this pack. Not to mention Alpha Ramon himself and his unit would also be at that table.

She also didn’t actually want to be at a table with her family at all right now. All her life they’d wanted Hayden to take over her position, and now they were getting it. It actually hurt, caused heartache to know they would be happy about this.

And laying her actual eyes on them right now? She had no idea if she could hide how she felt; the pain of her own family’s betrayal that she felt, where they were all concerned; from two Gammas.

One she was actually closely bonded to, was to her, like Slade and Yuri, her closest friend. Palmer also knew that she was ticked off about all that was going on with Hayden, and could well be feeling for her every time he was near her. So no, breakfast was not going to happen.

Ori was up and gone from the pack by 6am that morning, to avoid them hounding her or hunting her down, to come and have breakfast with them all at 7am. Breakfast for the Alpha and his unit. The future Alpha’s unit was always after training, which started at 5am and went for two hours.

She actively made the choice to leave smack in the middle of that training session to avoid them all. Knew neither of their families would come down until 7am as well, sleep in till like 6:30. So she was good to get up and leave without everyone knowing about it.

Ori strolled downstairs in a pair of blue jeans, a singlet top with a men’s dress shirt over the top, knotted at the front, it sat neatly over her lower abdomen. She didn’t actually know how today was going to go down with Slade.

That group chat that she was still a part of, and she did have some interaction within it, so neither Palmer nor Yuri would hunt her down and realise what was going on. Had seen Slade send more happy pictures to them, of Audrey, and then over the last few days. A lot more had come through from him, he was really happy, and there were actual pictures now of the two of them together, smiling, happy, selfies of them. She was mostly always on his lap in them.
