“Yes, but it would be my pleasure to do it,” I told her. “I will be going to school with friends and not be getting picked on and have friends to eat lunch with. I am really very excited about going to school tomorrow. For the first time in a long time.”
“Please let someone know if you get picked on tomorrow Jade,” Luna Monica said, “We will not allow it, and it will be stopped immediately”.
“Mom, I got her, I won’t allow anyone to pick on her tomorrow,” Bree says. I smile over at her and then Dixon chimes in “I will watch out for her too, mom. We will take care of her. Maybe I will get to ride to school with them too”.
“And maybe you won’t, Dixon,” Bree says and then walks off.
“Sure, Dixon, you can ride with us to school. I have room for 5, we can all fit in it”. I tell him.
My dad and Luna Joy are going to get packed up to go back and Tyler and Tate are going in to pack too, as they will send their stuff back in the SUV. They will be leaving an hour after our parents do, to do a quick ride with me before they leave. I was going to miss them so much, I realized as they went into the house to get packed. I go ahead and let the tears fall.
“Jade, are you OK?” I heard Aubrey say. I nod, but the tears keep pouring down.
“I just got them and now they have to leave. I want to spend more time with them, but I feel a pull like I need to be here. Don’t get me wrong, I love you, Bryan, and Nicole, but I just found out I have a dad and a family that loves me and didn’t get upset over the social media videos. I just worry that they will go back to their pack, and they won’t want or need me anymore. I don’t want to lose my new family”, I told her.
“That is not going to happen, Jade, we love you so much already, you are a part of our family and that will not be changing for any reason”, I heard my dad say. He held his arms open to me and I ran over to him for a hug.
“Joy said I was of no help with packing and told me to come back because she felt you were upset, and she was right,” my dad told me.
Yea, it may be because I feel like I can’t trust my own instincts. I just got my wolf and needed more time with her. I felt as though someone cared for me. He didn’t, it was just a trick. Having you all as my family, I am terrified of losing it, like waking up tomorrow and it all has been a dream. I could lose the new bike, the jeep, but I can’t lose you all. It would break my heart.” I told him and pressed my face into his chest and let my tears continue to fall.
My dad hugs me and tells me “No matter what, only death will take us from you. You are stuck with us all from now on”.
“Dad, did you break Jade again? I swear you have made her cry more in 2 days, that you have made me cry in 17 years”, I heard Tate say. He always makes me smile. He is the comedic relief that brings me joy. Tyler hits him on the back and says “stop clowning”, but I could see him smiling and I knew he knew that Tate was just trying to get me to laugh.
I fell asleep thinking about what a great day I had. What a great time I had getting to ride with my brothers, Dixon, and Brax. The only hard part was when I had to say goodbye to dad and Joy, and the even harder part of saying goodbye to my brothers after our ride was done. They had school too so they had to leave at 8 so they wouldn’t be out too late as they would be getting in after 10.
