It was divine.
And it was turning me the fuck on.
My knees gave out again, and I dropped, forehead touching the floor before I could stop myself. It wasn’t submission. Not exactly. It was reverence. Obsession. Worship.
Kai took a single step forward.
And the room spun with her scent. My lungs seized from the sheer pleasure of it. Shade pressed at the inside of my chest, growling.
Take her.
Bind her.
Mate her.
But Kai looked at us like we were monsters.
Maybe we were.
“You will swear,” she said, her voice the calm after the storm. Still crackling with restrained
fury, but cold now. Controlled. Dangerous.
God, it made me want to crawl.
And I did.
Before I could think, before Shade could scream in protest. And now I was slowly, shamelessly, crawling toward my mate.
Derrick did the same.
Because we both knew.
This wasn’t just about claiming Kai.
This was about *serving* them.
Kai was power incarnate.
Not some omega to be protected.
She was *hers* to begin with.
And now she was ours.
Maybe.
If we proved worthy.
“I swear,” I said, my voice hoarse. “By my blood, by my wolf, and by the bond already pulling me under-I swear to protect you. Never to betray you. To take your secret to the grave.”
Derrick echoed me, his voice rough but steady. “I swear too.”
Kai watched us for a long, long moment.
Then she nodded.
“Good. Because if either of you lies…”
She didn’t finish, didn’t need to.
The static crackling in the air said enough.
I swallowed, and I realized I was trembling. Not from fear, not from shame.
From anticipation.
The bond was forming.
It was slow, tentative, and painful as fuck. But it was there. Threads of gold slipping under my skin, tying my soul to her.
Kai.
I didn’t know what came next.
I didn’t know if we could ever come back from what I’d done.
But I knew one thing.
I would fight for Kai.
I would burn the world for her.
And maybe-just maybe-I could earn her forgiveness in the ashes.
DERRICK POV
The second jolt wasn’t as strong as the first-no bones cracking this time-but the burn under my skin still roared like fire. My muscles twitched, vision blurry with static. Somewhere beside me, I heard Dalton cough, breathing hard.
But my eyes were on her.
Her.
She stood there, arms crossed, lightning still dancing around her fingertips like it belonged there. Like she belonged to no one.
But she belonged to me.
And Dalton, unfortunately.
I loved how beautiful she looked right then.
I loved how my wolf whined for her.
But worse than anything was the flicker in my chest whispering:
“You’re not the one in control anymore.” Because she was.
A flick of her fingers and I was done.
My Goddess…
My mate.
Upset with me. And Dalton. Of course.
“Get. Dressed,” she snapped. Her voice had the sharp edge of command, but it wasn’t just the words that made me move-it was the way she looked at us like we were beneath her.
And maybe she was right.
I smirked, ignoring the shirt I was supposed to be pulling over my head. “Why, little mouse?” I drawled, eyes locked on her as I rose slowly to my feet, bare chest still rising and falling.” Afraid I might distract you?”
Her gaze narrowed, but I saw the flicker.
Gotcha.
I took a step forward. “Like what you see?” Another step. “You know… you could have this-” I dragged a hand slowly down my torso, teeth flashing in a grin, “-just like that. A snap of those sweet little fingers, and I’d be on my knees. Maybe even beg.”
Dalton let out a disgusted sound, but I didn’t take my eyes off her.
Because for a split second, she stopped breathing.
“I said get dressed,” she repeated, jaw tight, eyes flickering gold and silver now. “I’m not having this conversation with either of you butt naked.”
“Tch,” I muttered, grabbing my clothes anyway. “Bit of a shame. I was starting to enjoy our bonding time.”
Dalton muttered something about “idiot,” but I didn’t care.
Because even if I played it cool, Onyx, my wolf, was pacing. Whining. Wanting.
And that wasn’t just lust. It was the bond. The real one. The soul-deep, rip-you-apart kind of bond I thought I understood-but never fucking felt until she dropped that pendant around her neck.
And my world just changed axis. She was now the only thing I could see, smell, and need.
So once I was dressed-still shirtless, but fine, whatever-I crossed my arms and fixed my gaze on her.
“You gonna explain this now?” I asked, voice lower, rougher. “The pendant. The scent you were hiding. Why the hell have you worn that thing and kept this from us.”
She stared at me for a long time. Long enough that I started to think she wouldn’t answer.
Then, her voice came quiet. Controlled.
“I didn’t know.”
My jaw clenched. “What?”
“I didn’t know we were mates. I haven’t turned eighteen yet. My birthday’s next week.”
