Chapter 39 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

Lucas was locked inside this small room in the warrior’s quarter. The warrior in this pack had been very agitated because Khaos infiltrated their pack and took over of the control here from Rhett.

After what happened, they seemingly agreed that Rhett was the best option for them to lead the River Creek pack. It saved to say that he was the reliable one among the three sons.

Unfortunately, there were not many warriors left to raise a ruckus, since most of the warriors had been executed for treason.

“Are you sure you never heard about that?” Khaos walked slowly toward him, which Lucas raised his chin defiantly.

“I don’t know what kind of medicine is that,” he said, but after the word left his mouth, Khaos slammed his head against the wall. The informant wailed in pain, as he scrambled away from the alpha, but with how small this room was, there was not enough distance that he could put between them. “What’s that for?!”

This time Khaos stomped on his feet, relishing the sound of cracking bones, as he watched him in agony.

“Are you going to tell me?” Khaos asked again, his voice became darker.

“What should I tell you when I don’t know anything about that medicine?!” Lucas cried out loud. “What?! Are you going to threaten me with my brother’s life?! Even if you killed him before my eyes, I can’t tell you something that I don’t know!”

Lucas beat Khaos in his threat.

The way he stated that he was ignorant was very convincing, but he made a mistake in his haste to lie in the alpha’s face.

“I have never told you that’s a medicine,” Khaos stated. He then stood up, released the pressure on Lucas’s let, as he cradled his broken leg. He was in so much pain, but his expression couldn’t betray his fear upon hearing what Khaos said.

He was busted. The alpha knew it was a lie.

“Wh- what do you mean?” Lucas stuttered, either because of the pain or because he was anxious that his lies exposed.

On the other hand, Khaos didn’t entertain him with explanation. He simply shouted to the door. “Order someone to cut his brother’s hand!”

It was obviously a bluff. Lucas didn’t think Khaos would actually go through with it, if he was convinced that he knew nothing about it, there was no point to torture his brother, but then it didn’t work like that.

Khaos knew his lie, there was no way to convince him otherwise.

“Wait!” Lucas growled, he ignored the pain on his leg and immediately crawled back to Khaos’s feet. “I will tell you everything! I will tell you whatever you want! Cancel your order! Don’t touch my brother!”

Khaos looked at Lucas for a moment, before he spoke curtly. “Speak.”

“Cancel your order first!” Lucas wouldn’t back down, he needed to know that his brother was safe first before he betrayed his client.

Instead, Khaos kicked him to the side and then walked toward the door. One thing about an alpha was; they didn’t take an order, especially those people below their rank, not to speak of Khaos.

The only reason Khaos could tell that he lied through his teeth was because he mentioned Red Feather as medicine. Even if the owner of the drug store and the apothecary couldn’t tell what was that and only Zuri called it as medicine, it meant, only people that recognized the concoction as medicine, who involved in this.

“That medicine related to the lycan!” Finally, Lucas spoke. He chose the crucial information to make Khaos stopped walking away from him and thankfully, it worked.

Khaos turned around and resumed his position earlier, he leaned against the close door, his grey eyes prodded Lucas to speak.

The informant looked defeated, he gritted his teeth and dragged his broken leg, so he could lean his back against the wall, panting heavily. Sweat formed on his forehead.

“Red Feather is a concoction to make beauty blood.”

Khaos narrowed his eyes dangerously. He didn’t even bother to feign his reaction upon hearing that. Of course, he knew beauty blood and what was that for.

“The lycan three legacies.”

Lucas was in so much pain, he felt like he was going to faint, thus he didn’t notice the look on Khaos’s face, moreover, his vision was blurry, it must be because a concussion he had when Khaos slammed his head earlier.

“Golden Stamp. Beauty Blood. The Feather of the Phoenix.” He listed the three things that Khaos had been looking for. “Not many people know about the lycan three legacies.”

He was right, because only those people, who actually can read the scripture left by that old dynasty, who would be able to know about this secret, but even so, deciphering the meaning of it was different task completely, since they didn’t use direct word. It was like a riddle.

“But, obviously, the person who hired me know about the old dynasty of the lycan, as they wanted it so badly to create beauty blood.”

“What do you know about beauty blood?” Khaos stood up straight, his eyes bore a hole on Lucas’s face. From the look of it, the secret about lycan was no longer sacred anymore.

Lucas shook his head. “I am sorry for luna Zuri.”

Yes, people who knew about beauty blood and the effect of it would say the same thing. It was

a dangerous thing, despite the beautiful name it was given.

“Did Rhett behind it?” Khaos asked straight to the point.

“You know I can’t say anything. The seal prevented me.”

For a second both of them only stared at each other and as if there was a tacit understanding between them, Khaos knew the answer for his question.

After that, without saying anything anymore, he turned around, but not before Lucas asked

him first.

“Do you have any relation with lycan?”

Khaos didn’t answer his question. He didn’t need to entertain him anymore, as he left the room, but Lucas yelled at him before he slammed the door behind him.

“I have told you everything that you wanted to know! Don’t you dare to touch my brother! Damn it!” Lucas cursed at Khaos, but the alpha had long gone. “Hey! Cancel your order! Do you hear me! Hey!”

There was no need to cancel the order, because there was no one behind the door, no warrior heard the order, since they left the premises once the alpha entered the room and only returned when he left.

Right now, Khaos was heading toward the dungeon, where he kept Rhett. That man knew more than anyone could expect.

Along the way, the warrior from the River Creek pack gave the alpha a look, as they felt agitated toward him for imprisoning Rhett. In their mind, he was the future alpha for this pack, but they couldn’t do anything against the royal warrior, especially when they had opened the gates for them.

Alpha Khaos literally swarmed the pack house with the warriors that he brought with him.

“Leave,” Khaos said when he entered the cell, where Rhett was being held. It was a small cell, but there were two warriors stood on guard in front of it. The two warriors were from Khaos’s pack.

“A day has not passed yet, but you already look for me?” Rhett lifted his head. He was sitting on the edge of his bed. He still looked as arrogant as before, since there was no torture that was ordered upon him.

“Beauty blood.” Khaos didn’t beat around the bush. “What do you know about it?”

As far as Khaos knew, Luca’s client, or even you could call as his master, was Lucas, since he was the one, who introduced Zuri to that informant.
