“Cover yourself. I am not going to parade your nakedness.” Khaos turned around. “Where did you put the scriptures?”
With that, both of them walked out of the cell.
Caiden joined them. He had been listening to their conversation, though he didn’t show his face. The gamma was shocked when he heard about the way Rhett talked about the lycan. Who was this man actually?
Why he knew so much about the lycan?
“In the healer’s house.”
Not many people knew about this. The realm still believed that the lycan had died, they had been eradicated from this world.
It would cause an uproar if they learned that the rumor about the lycan was true, because there would be only one goal for the last lycan, which was… to take revenge for his kind.
However, that fact didn’t deter Rhett to pledge his loyalty to the last lycan.
“She doesn’t live there anymore,” Caiden remarked. This was the healer’s house who usually provided Zuri with medicine.
“Have you checked thoroughly?” Rhett smirked, he clutched the side of his body, where he had a few broken ribs. Even though most of his wounds had healed, but broken bone would always slow to heal even for a shifter.
Caiden was sure that they had checked the whole place, he didn’t miss anything, unless…
The gamma was right, there was a hidden passageway. If Rhett was shrewd enough to create a secret entrance into the pack where only him and Zuri, who knew about it, he must have made another one or two.
Rhett led them into the second bedroom. There was only usual furniture here, as if this room was only an extra bedroom in this house, but who would have thought that a secret passage could be found behind the wall, where a very ugly drawing of flower hanged on it.
The smile on Rhett’s face when he looked at Caiden with provocation made the gamma wanted to punch this man on the face. Obviously, he provoked him intentionally.
But thankfully, Caiden was way better than to fall into his lame provocation easily. He simply rolled his eyes and acted nonchalant.
Stairs that led them down to the under ground could be seen, the wall was studded by illuminous pearls, which gave them a little bit light to see their steps and Rhett led the way down, followed by Caiden and then Khaos.
The alpha had been very quiet ever since they entered this house.
Once they arrived at the base of the stairs, there was a long tunnel that they couldn’t see the
end of it and for two hours, they walked in silence.
“Are you kidding me?! This tunnel led to nowhere!” Caiden lost his patience, he had been very agitated because he hated a tunnel. A narrow place like this gave him an anxiety.
Rhett said nothing, he only threw a nasty look at Caiden, who was grumbling. “We are almost there,” he said to Khaos specifically.
Meanwhile, at the same time Khaos and Caiden were away from the pack house, Red Beast, the exclusive warriors of the king arrived at the River Creek pack and tried to sneak into the pack house to take Silas away.
It was close to midnight when the first snow fell.
Zuri was sitting on the windowsill, staring at the darkness. Khaos bound her hand with thick bandages, so she couldn’t scratch or harm herself and she was not allowed to untie it until he returned.
However, Khaos said, he was going to comeback when dinner time, yet even when it already passed midnight, he had not yet returned.
Her meal was on the table. Zuri could untie the bandages and ate, but Khaos told her to wait for him. Therefore, she was going to wait.
Moreover, she didn’t want to eat alone.
‘He will not come, you fool.’
‘Do you think why he is not here? He lied to you, just like how he lied to the other people and used them.’
“He will be here,” Zuri murmured. She started to rock her body back and forth, as she stared at the first snow that fell from the night sky. “It’s beautiful…” she talked randomly.
Zuri glued her eyes at the white little thing outside, she refused to look at anywhere, because her father decided to make his appearance. She would prefer Xaden or her mother, but recently, it was her father, who filled her hallucination.
‘Stupid child, you never learned anything, did you?’
‘You are useless. Crazy and useless.’
“No. I am sick. Khaos said I am sick. I am not crazy.”
‘If you really not crazy, so why are you talking to dead people?’
Alpha Roland talked to her derisively, he smirked to see how his words bothered Zuri. Despite her effort to not want seeing him, Zuri still could see his reflection on the glass of the window.
She hated herself for hallucinating like this and why would she see his reflection? Was he real?
‘You are not the only one, who hates yourself. Everyone does hate you.’
Zuri closed her eyes, she called Khaos’s name repeatedly. She wanted him to be here, to calm her down. And without her realizing it, her claws elongated, pierced through the bandages. She was tempted to stab her father, but she knew, in the end, she would only stab herself.
Khaos didn’t like it whenever she hurt herself, so she wouldn’t do it.
‘But, if you hurt other people, he will not mind, right?’
“No!” That’s not right to hurt other people. Zuri shook her head. She rocked herself faster, patting her head and her shoulder, but it didn’t feel the same. It was not the same like when Khaos did it. “Why he is not here? He promised me. He promised me to be here.”
The voices in her head laughed viciously, mocking her, taunting her and calling her all names that you wouldn’t want to repeat.
‘Obviously, if a man didn’t return to their woman passed midnight, they must have buried their dick somewhere else.’
‘Oh, dear. You are so na?ve. He must have buried his face between a woman’s legs right now. Lucky
woman.’
‘Why do you think he didn’t touch you? He doesn’t like you.’
‘I told you to lose weight. You are fat. You are like a fat pig. Probably you are a pig shifter.’
Zuri closed her eyes tightly, she pressed her palms against her ears, but she still heard their voices in her head.
In the end, she stood up from the windowsill and shifted into her beast. If Khaos was going to sleep with another woman, she was going to kill that woman.
He was hers! No one could touch him but her! She wouldn’t allow that to happen!
