“Hello?” I said in confusion.
The wolf in the reflection jumped excitedly at the sound of my voice.
“I’m Ava” She told me.
“Ava?’ I repeated “Are you my wolf?”
“Wolf?” She snarled “I’m not a”
A loud growl behind us cut Ava off mid-sentence, and she turned to see two of the border patrol guards in their wolf form.
One of the men shifted back, and I recognized him, his name was Jarad.
“Identify yourself, or we’ll attack!”
“Its me” I told them through the link “Its Madelyn”
“Madelyn?” The other guard repeated, and I recognized his voice through the link, it was Ryan, a man who’d slapped me once because I bumped into him in the store once and caused him to drop his drink “Theres no way, Madelyn doesn’t have a wolf”
Ava growled and lowered herself to attack, why was she so angry?
“Ava stop” I pleaded “They’ll kill us”
“They can try”
“It really is me” I said quickly to try an defuse the situation “I just shifted”
“Prove it!’ Jarad demanded ‘Shift back!’
“No!” I said in surprise “Im naked”
“Fine” Ryan snarled angrily “You can just sit there and wait for the Alpha”
Cr*p, no, we won’t be able to escape if he sees us.
“Ava, just shift back and let me have control again”
“No” She responded “I will just kill these dogs, and we’ll run”
Before I could argue, we heard running from behind us, and we turned to see Alpha Troy in his wolf form, he must have been on patrol with the guards today. Now I’d never get away today.
Alpha Troys wolf Crane began to growl as he circled around us.
“SHIFT BACK NOW!”
He’d used his command, but it had never affected me and Ava clearly had the same immunity and, furthermore, she didn’t cower like I would have. Instead, she growled.
“Ava stop”
But it was too late, Alpha Crane saw it as a challenge and launched at us, along with the other two guards.
Ava growled and fought them, but she was only minutes old and not strong enough to win. She did manage to get in a few good swipes and bites at the men, though, before she was brought down.
Alpha Crane stood on Ava’s throat and cut off her circulation while the other two men held down her legs and stomach.
“SHIFT” Alpha Troy shouted again and this time Ava did as she was told.
“I’m sorry Maddie” She wept “I wasn’t strong enough”
“Its okay” I told her as I took control again.
“But he’ll hurt you now” She cried, and I felt her curl up in my mind “I swore I’d save you, this was all my fault”
I didn’t get a chance to comfort her, the second I was back in my own body, Alpha Troy punched me in the face and knocked me out.
END OF DREAM
I gasped and tried to sit up as I came around from my dream, but strong muscular arms held me tightly.
“Maddie” I heard Koda’s voice through the darkness of the room “Are you okay, did you have another nightmare?”
“Please let me go” I asked and Koda quickly pulled his arms back and I sat up.
My heart was racing, and I put my face in my hands to steady myself.
“Madelyn” I heard Jaxson say softly, and I saw a steam of light shine through my closed eyelids.
I sat up straight and opened my eyes to see my mates looking very concerned.
“I’m really sorry” I was so embarrassed “I don’t know why I’m having so many nightmares, I don’t usually”
Gentle fingers ran through my tangled hair and I looked up at Jax.
“It must be Ava seeing all of your memories’ He told me ‘She’s getting stronger, and your memories are linking together”
I nodded. If that was the case, then I hoped she’d go through all the memories quickly, I hated seeing my past again.
“What was this nightmare about?” Koda asked.
I exhaled and rubbed my face ‘The day I shifted for the first time’ I admitted.
‘Why is that a bad memory?’ Jaxson asked.
‘Alpha Troy took her away from me’ I said sadly ‘I am going to go wash my face. Please go back to sleep’
I climbed over Koda, who gently grabbed my waist and helped me off the bed and I wandered into the bathroom and washed my face like last night.
‘Ava?’ I called out to her through my mind ‘Can you hear me?’
I felt movement in my mind but no response came and my heart fell a little.
JAXSONS POV
I heard my alarm going off lightly on the nightstand and I yawned and shut it off before looking down at my mate who had her hand inside my shirt with her leg up on my lap over my slightly hard c*ck while she slept.
Sh*t, I groaned to Knox when she shifted at my movement and her hand slid gently from my peck to my stomach, it felt so good when she touched me, the bond only added to the pleasure when tingles erupted down my skin.
Knox begged me to mate her as he playfully ran around in my mind chasing his tail, some dam Alpha.
