I chose to ignore him and gently tried to move my girl’s hand away, so I could get up, but she growled softly and snuggled even closer and Knox got even more turned on when he sensed Ava.
‘Cody’ I linked my jerk brother, who was snoring softly with his face pressed up against Madelyn’s back ‘KODA!’
‘What!’ He grumbled ‘Do you know what a dam sleep in is!’
‘I need you to grab Madelyn’
‘What, why?’ Koda finally moved back and opened his eyes ‘What’s wrong?
‘She won’t let go, and I don’t want to wake her’ I told him ‘Can you just pull her back, so I can move’
Koda smirked and rolled his eyes, but he helped me out and wound his arms slowly around her waist and pulled her back as I slipped out of bed, but she growled again in her sleep as she turned around and moved her leg up over Koda’s hip as he pulled her in, and she sn.uggled against his chest
‘Enjoy the meeting” Cody said smugly and closed his eyes, so I reached over and flicked the side of his ear like I used to when we were kids, and he glared up at me.
‘You’ll wake her’ I could tell he wanted to punch me, but I pointedly looked down at our mate and flipped him the bird ‘Bring her to the office later, so we can swap out, she’s mine today’
‘Yeah, yeah’
I left them to sleep in, got changed and rushed out of the suite with a coffee and a few pieces of toast that Julia had made in preparation for our breakfast.
I went straight to the throne room like yesterday morning and found everyone walking in, and I took my seat after bowing to my parents who had been talking privately through the link.
“Get up” My father glared at me
Great, what have I done now? I hope this wasn’t about marking Madelyn again.
“Yes your majesty” I said and rose to my feet again and bowed once more.
Knox was annoyed that he’d waited for us to sit down first before calling us back up but my father loved little stunts like this and even now I could see his smug smile that he was trying to that.
“Why is there a half dead man in my prison?” My father asked.
I turned and glared at counselor Brock, who was in charge of the prisons, but he avoided my eyes.
‘I am sorry that counselor Brock thought to bother you with such a trivial matter?’ I commented, after Madelyn had left the club, I beat the hell out of the b*stard who had touched her and had him thrown into the prison for the night.
“Answer your father” My mother ordered
I suppressed a sigh, I would make Brock pay for this “He touched my mate”
“The man you nearly killed is Alpha Collins second-born” My father informed me as if I cared
“With all due respect your majesty” I said firmly “But I wouldn’t care if it was the goddess’s son, no one touches my mate, as I’m sure you understand. Didn’t you only recently kill counselor Nathen for trying to seduce the Queen?”
We were having a city wide parade when counselor Nathen tried to trap my mother in a room alone and hit on her, resulting in my mother knocking him out and calling for my father, who killed Nathen in the main square in front of the pack tower for the entire pack to witness. in warning not to touch his mate
My father growled and slammed his hand down “I AM YOUR KING!” He shouted loudly and once again, I suppressed a growl “IF I WANT SOMEONE DEAD, THEN SO BE IT, YOU HAVE CAUSED ALPHA COLLINS TO PULL OUT OF NEGOTIATIONS UNLESS YOU APOLOGIZE AND YOU WILL TODAY!”
“Never” I said simply.
“We will discuss this again later” My mother said quickly to defuse the situation before it began, as she reached out and touched my father’s arm
“Sit down” My father ordered angrily “Let’s begin, bring Troy in”
I sat down and glared at the soon-to-be dead man walking in with his head held high and wearing a nice suit. What a smug b*stard.
He bowed to my parents before looking over at me and smiling and bowing “You’re Majesty’s”
“Drop the fake platitudes’ My mother said ordered, making sure to sound bored. I smiled to myself, the warrior in her always hated the royal protocols and bullsh*t
“You have requested a meeting with our council so start talking” She continued and looked at my father as if this whole situation was beneath her “We rarely allow werewolves to come into our council meetings and have more important matters to attend too so get to it”
“I am here today because my sons mate has been taken against the conditions of the treaty” He began “And I want you to order your sons to give her back to him”
‘With all due respect Alpha Troy” I commented “But you should be careful with your wording whilst addressing the King and Queen, I believe you meant to say that your sons ex mate was claimed by her true mates hours after the rejection”
Troys eyes darkened as he glared back at me but I simply smiled and sat back casually against my chair “You may continue”
“Madelyn is a member of my pack and”
“Again” I interrupted with a smile “I must interject, Madelyn was never a pack member, she is a Lycan that you wrongfully and illegally imprisoned and used as a slave and I would be very happy to discuss the punishment that will result from those acts”
“Your majesty I wonder how I am meant to speak with you if your son continues to interrupt with lies’ Troy said testily to my father
“Jaxson keep silent and let the wolf speak” My father ordered
“Yes Alpha” I nodded “I simply wanted us to get the facts right, seeing that Alpha Troy seems to have selective memory”
“Jaxson” My mother raised her eyebrows at me and I exhaled and kept silent.
“Continue” My father said
“As I was saying” Troy went on and began pacing up and down the aisle in front of everyone “Madelyn is a member of my pack, she was never imprisoned or used as a slave, she simply worked as a maid to carry her weight. I have raised and taken care of her from the moment I rescued her in the woods the day her mother sadly passed away, and I offer my condolences on the death of your sister your majesty”
Everyone in the room turned to my father and I suppressed a growl.
“Sister?!’ One of the counselors, Alice asked in confusion, but others in the room seemed angry and not confused. What was I missing?
Troy smiled at my father who looked livid
‘You don’t mean Iyarna?’ Counselor Jordan said in disgust ‘Why weren’t we told about this!?’
“ENOUGH!’ My father shouted “We have no proof, but yes, we believe Madelyn is Iyo’s child and I will tell the council what I want, when I want, you are not owed anything Jordan now all of you shut up, Troy, finish or get out!”
I frowned at my father, what was the issue with his sister? Everyone looked furious at the mention of her name, why would they hate her because she left? I need to get to the bottom of this.
“You mentioned lies about keeping Madelyn as a maid” I commented to Troy, who hesitated “In case you forgot where you were up to in your fictional story”
“JAXSON ENOUGH!” My father shouted, but Knox was laughing hard inside of me
“Alpha Jaxson, I don’t know what Madelyn has told you, but she is lying” Troy turned back to me “She was never mistreated, and I can bring in my mate to confirm that if you don’t believe me, she is a troubled girl, she has always been prone to fits of rage and delusions and after her first shift, she broke mentally, it was the reason I put the cuffs on her to control her, she was too powerful, and it was the only way I could protect my pack”
“If that was true then why would you want her back?” My mother asked as I shook in rage “Do you really think we believe this story you have concocted? What is the real reason you want her back?”
“I only want her back because she was meant for my son, and he has been, heart broken since he lost her” Troy answered “Madelyn was rash in her rejection, but I know she only did so because she thought she wasn’t good enough for him and forgive me your majesty, but I am not lying about Madelyn, she can not control her power or Lycan, and she is a danger to herself and others, my pack is her home, and we are her family, we know how to care for someone with her mental issues because we have been doing it her whole life, and she will be better cared for there than here”
“So you think she rejected your son because she didn’t think she was good enough for him and then turns around and accepts the princess’s who are far greater than your son?” Counselor Brice asked “Does that make sense to anyone else?”
