“Because you annoy her like a chihuahua, but she tolerates you because you are a good person.” I say. Fen rolls her eyes. “No, he only annoys me.” She says. I saw his face fall, but then lightened up a little.
“You have never talked about your wolf before.” He says to me,
“There is no need to talk about my wolf.” I say, while walking towards the stairs to go back to my room.
“What is she like?” He asks. I can feel his wolf coming forward to be in the conversation. Weird.
“She is like any other wolf.” I say trying to brush off the topic.
“All wolves are different. What does she look like?” He asks.
“A giant dog.” I answer, earning a growl from her. She hates to be compared to a dog.
“That isn’t what I mean.” He says.
“What is her name?” He asks. I sigh. “Stupid chihuahua. Annoying me with questions.” Fen grumbles.
“Fen.” I say. I feel uncomfortable. Nobody knows her full name, and only family and Laura know her as Fen.
“Fen. Is that short for something?” He asks.
“Yes.” I say with no further explanation. He could tell that I didn’t want to continue on the topic so he changed it.
“I think that the schedule change for the school is a good idea.” He says. “Nice transition dumba*s.” Fen snorts.
“Me too. That is why I am going to help do it.” I said as I continued up the stairs.
“Good. stick to your instincts. I am heading to training, I will see you later.” He turns and walks out the front door. I head back to my room, running into Amara before I walk in.
“Coffee?” She asks I smile and turn around to go to our coffee shop.
The morning has been good. I caught up with Amara and she took away my worries. At least for a little while. I am now heading up to Alarick’s office. I stop in front of the big oak door and take a deep breath. His scent calms me down and it irritates me and Fen. “Can we try to make him mad again? I like doing that.” Fen asks me. “You should have learned from yesterday that even though we make him mad he still wants to meet the next day.” I said to her. She just huffs and tries to hide away.
“You just going to stand out there all day?” I hear his voice from the other side of the door, annoying me. I walk in to see him already sitting on the couch with books on the little table in front of it. He looks at me and has a disheartened smile.
“I was taking a minute to collect myself before I faced your wrath.” I say, walking over to a chair and pulling it up to the table with books on it. I can feel a slight disappointment from him and I wonder if it is from my choice of seat or from my statement. Once I sit down he looks up from his spot he was staring at. He looks me in my eyes and I get lost in his light brown eyes. The flecks of green are harder to see because of the lighting in the office, but I can still see them.
“I um. I wanted to apologize for how I acted yesterday.” He says pulling me away from whatever place I went to.
“What part?” I ask.
“Well any part that I acted like an as*hole.” He says. “But specifically at dinner. I was upset that I was not informed of your projects and I realized that I may have overreacted. I just nod and keep quiet. I am not going to stand in your way of trying to better the pack. You may see things differently because you were not raised here. So that means you probably have some ideas on how to change things. I took what you said at dinner about the school schedules and I will allow the changing of the schedules. All I ask from you is that next time you would like to initiate a project to propose it to me first. I don’t like not knowing what is going on.” He says and I am in shock.
“You are okay with the schedule change?” Is all I can think to say.
“Yes, I had no right to get as upset as I did. Luna’s take on projects and it has been since my mother that a Luna project was taken on. You will technically be Luna, and although we will not be the typical mates, I will not get in your way of being Queen unless I have to.” He says. Shocking me even more. What changed his mind? Why is he being so nice?
“Alright. Well I appreciate your apology and I will come to you with other projects that I may want to take on in the future. Which also leads to me saying that I have committed to another project.” I say shocking him.
“Another one?” He asks and I nod my head.
“I would like to develop a daycare for pups next to the school.” I say and he looks confused.
“There is a daycare for pups. It is down the road from the school.” He says.
“You must pay for that one and from what I have heard it is more expensive. There are parents who cannot afford it. I would like to develop a free daycare.” I say and once he registers what I say he nods his head.
“I agree. You will have whatever resources you need to get the daycare up and going.” He says shocking me once more. I nod my head and he smiles.
“So research. These are some of the books I have found that might give us a hint on what to do for the ceremony.” He says pointing towards the books on the table. I nod my head and grab one. I start to read it and he continues reading the one he had closer to him.
After about an hour of going through the books his office phone begins to ring. He gets up and answers it.
