“Don’t,” I snapped, yanking away. “Don’t touch me.”
“Liana,” he said as he knelt down and reached out for me “Baby, please, get up. You’re going to hurt yourself.”
“Don’t touch me!” I snapped, jerking away from him. I stood up with my fists clenched. My face was wet and hot with tears. Don’t you dare touch me!””
He blinked, stunned “Liana, I-“”This is all your fault!” I screamed. “Everything is because of you!”
He looked confused, hurt. “What are you talking about?”
I wiped my face angrily with the back of my hand. “Why did I ever go against my dad for you? Huh? For what? For a man who was married! a man who picked another woman over me more than once!”
“That’s not fair-“
“No! What’s not fair is me defending you, loving you, and getting nothing but pain in return!”
He flinched.
“You want to know what I remember most about us?” I said, laughing bitterly through the tears. “That first night. When you found out I was a virgin and you threw money at me like I was some random hook-up. Then you disappeared.”
His face dropped. “Liana, I can explain-“
“Then the second time,” I kept going, ignoring him. “After fucking me, I begged you. I begged you to pick me. and what did you do? You still chose Cynthia over me. You said she was much more important! You let me rot while you played happy husband with her.”
“It wasn’t like that-“
“YES IT WAS!” I screamed so loudly my throat burned. “I disobeyed my dad, lost his trust, destroyed myself… for someone who didn’t even choose me. and who still wouldn’t over and over again.”
He stepped toward me, desperate. “Liana, please…”
“Don’t. Just don’t.”
I turned away, wiping my face. My tears wouldn’t stop, but something inside me had shifted. I couldn’t take it anymore. I was done. I was so, so done. Done with Killian and his bullshit.
And I ran.
I didn’t care that I was barefoot. I didn’t care that the road was rough or that my lungs were on fire. I just ran down the street, past the gate, until I saw it, the tail end of my father’s car.
“Wait!” I shouted, waving my hands. “Dad. Wait!”
The brake lights lit up. The car slowed. Then stopped.
I reached it, panting, my chest heaving.
The driver’s door opened. My dad stepped out, brows furrowed, his mouth parting as if he wasn’t sure if he should be angry or hopeful.
I stared at him for a long second, my heart beating so loudly I could barely hear my own thoughts.
And then I nodded.
“Yes,” I said, breathless and raw. “Yes Dad, I’ll do it.”
Liana’s POV
My father looked straight into my eyes, not moving, not blinking.
“Are you sure about what you’re saying?”
I nodded slowly through the tears that refused to stop falling. “Yes. I’m sure. I’ll do anything. Just… please don’t push me away. I can’t take that.”
“LIANA!”
Killian’s voice sliced through the air like thunder. I didn’t need to turn, I already knew the sound of his rage. He stormed toward us, his eyes wide with disbelief, fists clenched like he was barely keeping himself together.
“What the hell are you saying?”
I didn’t answer. I couldn’t.
“Please, Dad,” I repeated, my voice shaky but firm. “If it means you’ll forgive me… I’ll leave Killian. I’ll do it.
“The fuck you will,” Killian growled, yanking me gently but firmly toward him. “You’re not doing this. I
“Let go of me,” I said, trying to pull my hand back.
“No,” he barked, his voice raw. “No! Look at me!”
“I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!” I screamed, shoving him off me. “STAY OUT OF THIS, KILLIAN!”
He didn’t back down. His chest was rising and falling fast, his face twisted with pain and rage.
” let you.”
“You belong to me,” he said, staring right at me, loud enough for everyone to hear. “You fucking belong to me, Liana. You think I’ll stand here and watch you walk away again? You think I’ll let that happen? Never! Never! I won’t allow it.”
My father stepped in front of me protectively. “Watch your tone. That’s my daughter you’re talking to.”
Killian’s eyes didn’t even move. “She’s mine,” he snapped. “Mine. Mine!”
He growled low in his throat, as if something inside him was about to snap.
“Liana,” he whispered hoarsely, grabbing both my hands, kissing my palms, his voice breaking “I’ll do anything you want. any damn thing. But don’t do this to me. Don’t leave me. I love you. I can’t… I can’t imagine my life without you again. Please.
Don’t do this.”
His eyes were red and desperate. I could see him breaking right in front of me.
I gently pushed his hands away, even though everything inside me was falling apart. “There are so many reasons why we can never be together, Killian. So, so many.”
“I don’t care!” he yelled. “I don’t fucking care!”
“Well, I do!” I shouted back. “I care! I care about my father. I care about Ryan. I care about the fact that I’ve been living in shame and confusion for years because of you,”
My dad raised his hand, cutting us both off. “That’s enough. Liana, go inside and pack your things. We’re going home. You and Ryan both.”
I stood frozen.
“Go on,” he said, quieter this time. “No daughter of mine is going to stay in a man’s house when I have a house with her nameon it.”
