Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 48 – My Mate or My Foe

“I’ll drive” Ride tosses the magazine on the bed stepping up to me.

“I missed you” he says winking as he walks past me.

I know he’s trying to hide how much it affects him that his friends are dead but I see the look in his eyes he’s pained and I can’t help him because I’m aware of the fact he won’t let me.

The whole pack house is in turmoil. I’m guessing everyone heard the news.

We hurry to Riley’s car, Ride drives smoothly back to the pack hospital.

I head to Jaden’s ward.

The guards stop me at the entrance to his room.

“You’re not allowed in there “He says simply.

Pushing his hand away I step through pushing the door behind me and bolting it.

Jaden looked just like I found him.

“Jaden hey” I smile sadly sitting by his side and taking his hand in mine.

“It’s me you need to wake up now Jaden hope people wanted you dead I won’t let anything happen to you”

“I know this is all my fault I’m sorry baby but you need to wake up for us for all you’ve worked for” Placing my head In his face I tilt his gorgeous face toward mine.

“You’re going to wake up aren’t you?” The silence that follows kills me within.

“I know I’ve never said this but Jaden Perry I’ve fallen in love with you” the tears finally fall, making my heart ache.

The door is banged on the outside.

“Open up,”Ride yells.

I kiss Jaden on the forehead then wipe my eyes looking as composed as I possibly could manage, I unlock the door.

“What’s up Ride”

“Nisha wants to leave the hospital again”

Looking back at Jaden I follow him back to Nisha’s room.

I dismissed the two nurses standing at the foot of her room.

“Nisha what’s wrong you promised to rest” I question.

“It’s Elijah Hailey I can feel him”

“If I’m discharged now we can get to him before he’s pulled in a range I can’t get to”

“You sure?” I question, she may just be paranoid.

“Yes Hailey I’m sure”

“Okay l request for your discharge”

Heading outside a doctor was called to check in Nisha then signing the papers she changed back into her clothes before she hurried to the exit.

She makes Ride sit in the passenger’s seat as she accelerates back to the pack house.

“Are you really sure?” I question once more why Elijah would be in the pack house.

“Yes I’m certain,” she says, jumping out the car.

I look at Ride who just shrugs not making an attempt to leave looks like I was alone on this.

Nisha hurries quickly and it takes a lot of effort to catch up to her through the activity that I’m sure Carter is behind

Stopping at the foot of the door she grips the door knob. I see fear sizzle through her.

I nod in encouragement and she turns the knob and there he is lying peaceful underneath the sheets, Elijah.

“Elijah!” Nisha screams, going to his side he looked uneasy.

Underneath his lashes, he was battling.

I look around the room searching for a note. Maybe he’s no 4 but there’s nothing just Elijah in his room.

“He’s alive,” Nisha says hopefully.

Rubbing his hands together with hers.

Elijah coughs out, fluttering his eyes weakly as he awakens.

“Eli my love you scared me,” Nisha says hugging him.

Feeling she’ll love to spend time alone with him, I walk out meeting Ride who’s leaning outside.

“You okay?” I ask, watching him keenly.

He tilts his head a bit towards me, taking his lip piercing in between his teeth.

“I’m alright I’m tired of hanging in here maybe I’ll take a ride around the block to take the edge off you feel me?”

“Drop me at the hospital” I request understanding his plight.

He nods and walks up to me he tugs my hair.

“Your dye is fading” he whispers walking past me, we drive back to the hospital.

“You’ll come back,” I ask Ride as he drops me at the entrance of the hospital.

“It’s a dangerous world out there, Angel.

I hope he’ll be safe.

He’s taking it the rough way and Ride is not someone who shows emotion; it doesn’t mean he is void of any.

With a sigh, I walk into the hospital speaking with a doctor to check up and give feedback on his condition.

This time as I go to the ward they move aside letting me walk in with ease.

He takes his stethoscope and places it on Jaden’s chest, checking his eyelids and his pulse.

“Miss everything seems normal, he is safe but may be exhausted to come back conscious . In a little time he will be fine,” He says gently.

But that’s the problem, we don’t have time.

“Thank you,” I say, giving a sly smile.

“Just doing my job” He nods as he leaves the room.

Who knows how much time Jaden has left before Carter ascends the throne?

A syringe by the bedside table grabbed my attention.
