“I thought you loved me!” Screams Eunice, her wolf surfacing and almost attacking Alaric.
“I don’t feel anything for you, and you knew it, you overlooked all that because you wanted a life with me. The only woman I’ll ever love is Alyssa,”
Leondre was almost attacking Alaric at this point but I held him down, staying close in hopes of easing him again.
“Shut up, or we’ll release those slayers and lock you in there with them, or they’ll enjoy tearing you apart,”
Arya threatens, her eyes flashing gold.
Eunice has started to cry again, probably because her chosen mate confesses to still wanting me or the punishment they’ll face for their crime.
“Did you not for once think that he’ll need payback for all he’s doing for you?”
“He said he will collect his debt in due time,” Alaric answers.
We ignore the two and focus on the slayers, we have to decide their future now.
“We can’t let them walk around, they might start to kill shifters,”
“Are you suggesting we kill them, Gamma Jack?” I glare at him and he avoids my gaze. I raise an eyebrow when I realize even Leondre was thinking of killing them.
“Babe, I think it’s for the best as in, look at them,”
“No, Leon, we can detox them of all chemicals in their system and those scientists can try to rectify this,”
How can they all agree to kill so many people? My heart wouldn’t know rest if I did. After agreeing to disagree, my mate looks at Dr. Fen,
“Can you fix this?”
“Well, sir, it is going to be difficult but possible, we shall need funding, lots and lots,”
“That’s not a problem,” I inform the scientist. Happy that my mate is considering keeping them alive. ” You do realize that they’ll still be slayers even if they can’t shift right? They will still hunt down supernatural creatures,” Says Angie who hasn’t said a word since we got here.
“I think we have pressing matters to discuss, for starters, catching the man who’s sponsoring this operation, I have a feeling it has to do with the recent attack we got,” I say looking back at Alaric.
Alyssa’s POV
“I don’t know about that, I swear,”
“Isn’t it odd that Alpha Martin has been quiet? I think we should pay that pack a visit after this,” Suddenly says Leondre and I agree with him, that man and his daughter hate us to the core. They might just be planning something dreadfully.
“He actually been on his best behavior and even meditates, Alaiah left the hospital and traveled to another country,” Jake informs us.
After leaving the doctors there to work on the shifters, we go to the town hall where official meetings with pack elders take place.
We sit around the rectangular table with me and Leondre taking either side of it, a few elders of the pack were there to deliver Alaric and Eunice’s punishment, his parents left as they couldn’t contain their sobs.
“I would suggest banishment but they might just join forces with our unknown enemy to take us out because they know how the packs work,” Says Leondre, he is looking mighty.
“Let’s keep them in the dungeons and let them be treated like the traitors and rats they are,” Arya grits her teeth.
Eunice is begging and wailing, I lowkey enjoy seeing that, is it wrong?
“I can’t survive in such a dirty please, please, please your highnesses take pity on me,” She wails.
“Alaric forced me, I didn’t want to do it, someone please call my daddy,” She was ranting at this point. Alaric’ gaze is on me the whole time and I don’t flinch or shudder, I am stronger now and a man like him would not affect me.
“They won’t be kept here in the Dawnrise, they might get special treatment from guards, or even escape hence will be taken to the royal pack where they will serve with the hardest labor.”
“and we won’t forget the whipping,” I add gleefully.
Two royal warriors drag them away and two more are ordered to guard them in case they attempt to flee.
“We still have to discuss the succession, Alaric was the only son of Alpha Deon-“
“I don’t want anyone associated with that name to lead this pack,” Interrupts my mate.
“You as elders will choose a worthy candidate and after they pass through all training, I will swear them in,”
After that matter was done, a few omegas prepared us rooms in the packhouse since it was late for us to go back.
“Feels like old times huh,” Comes my mate’s voice behind me, we were in the room I stayed with Leon when we found each other. I sigh, looking further into the forest.
“Feels like yesterday, yet it’s been over a year,” Leon hugs me from behind and silence engulfs us, my thoughts trailing to Lily and Max Harris, they requested an audience with me but I declined it. I’m not ready for that yet, I’m afraid the pain will come back, the misery I buried and the weakness I felt back then was asphyxiating.
All the beatings I received from them or the members, when I’d beg them to stop or take me away from this pack.
“All that is in the past, my love,” Leon must have sensed my emotions through the bond.
“Weakness, the abuse, and the dirt is all gone, you rose above it with grace and showed us what you’re really made for and now, they regret treating you the way they did,” He says, I lean into his chest
“I’m just a bit scared that it will come back,”
“No, my Queen doesn’t have to be troubled about that, and if it manages to creep in, just know that I got you,”
He bends down to kiss my neck and I turn around. I kiss his lips and whisper, “I want to go for a run,”
He frowns, looking down at the huge swell in his pants but I was already on the balcony before he can tempt me, he follows me and I jump from the third floor, landing swiftly on my paws, Leon is smiling at me.
