His eyes moved right towards her, and he shook his head and looked at the phone in his hand and hit dial. He saw her look about after a moment when her phone rang, then picked it up and glanced at the caller ID and went to dismiss it. “You might want to pick that up,” he told her, and turned the phone he had in his hand to face her. So, she could see it was him calling her number. “Carlotti’s phone.” He informed her with a smile.
He saw Dwane replay the footage for Jamie and then Sharon the head of HR, and she nodded. “Evidence enough.” She handed him a set of papers, “Instant dismissal for security breach.” She told him. “Do you want the honor?”
He smiled at her, “I do.” He nodded and walked over to the desk and leaned on it. “Jamie Sullivan, you are fired effective immediately for releasing to a non-employee, that there was going to be a full security system shut down of this floor at a specific time, which allowed that person to come here and assault a staff member during that time.
“I also just saw you standing in your doorway, waiting so you could watch it all happen.” He shook his head. “There will be no reference for this job, and anyone that calls will be informed of your breaching security protocols, and aiding and abetting assault in the work place. Pack your stuff and leave, you’ve got exactly 10 minutes.”
She was staring at him wide-eyed, not knowing what to say.
“Dwane and I will escort you from the building,” Jared stated, putting those papers on her desk and signing his name to them, and then turned and walked from her office. He looked at the marketing floor where many were looking at him, “Jamie Sullivain no longer works here, her position will be advertised on Monday. Any of you that would like a promotion may prepare and apply for it. We’ll promote from within,” he stated and walked over to sit himself on a vacant chair to wait for her to pack her things.
He texted his father that Jamie Sullivan was fired. He was waiting to escort her from the building. ‘Wynta son?’ came right back.
He shook his head, and Dwane chuckled from next to him. “I see that man has got one thing on the brain.”
“It does appear so.” Jared nodded and then sent to his father ‘She was informed, is currently off to have physio.”
They escorted Jamie from the building and there was a lot of chatter about it. He was unconcerned. Security checked her box of things and took her work ID. He looked at her and stated, “any severance owed will be paid with your next pay check.” Then turned and walked off.
His father called him that evening as he leaned on his balcony drinking a whiskey. His unit. were all there as well. They were actually barbecuing on his balcony. It was large and spacious, and it was a nice night for them.
“Now, son, you’ll be staying in the city, yes? For tomorrow’s full moon,” his father asked him.
“Yes, father, as will my entire unit, and I see what you’re trying to do. I can also actually pick up Wynta’s scent from here at my penthouse. She’s actually not that far as the crow flies. I will diligently stand outside with my unit, and we will all take a full breath in, to see if she is one of our Mates, just for you.” He smiled at his own words.
His unit all chuckled behind him. They knew he was annoying his old man, because Edward didn’t care if any of them were around to scent Wynta out, only himself. “Son!”
“What? Don’t they have the right to see if she’s one of their Mates as well?” he snorted. “Two can play old man.” He chuckled, and the line clicked closed. “Ticked him off, I think.” He snorted to his unit.
Though Saturday came, and they were all standing out there on his balcony with him, thought he was certain it was more mere curiosity for them as to if he would, none of them could actually scent her at all right now, and not once today had he been able to and the windows. had been open.
“I don’t think she’s been outside all day,” Dwane told him. “You’re going to have to get her to open her door.”
“She’s not going to,” Andy chuckled. “She knows Edward is trying to Mate her into the pack. Got her doors and windows closed.”
He sighed. “That’ll tick the old man off.” And he knew it would. His father was going to ring him a minute after the moon set to see what happened. He looked at his watch and ordered a pizza to be delivered to her home for just after the moon to set.
“She’ll see through that.” Dwane chuckled.
“It’s all I’m willing to do,” he stated, “Father can deal with her not opening a door.”
She didn’t open the door, and he huffed in annoyance. His father had called, and he’d told him he was waiting for that pizza man to deliver to her apartment, so she’d open the door. It was about 10 minutes away.
That came and went, and the pizza man called his number to let him know he was there.” Sorry man, I got called away family emergency, you keep it for yourself,” He’d stated and hung up. He’d stood there and thought about it and then muttered, “Come on, let’s take a stroll.” His phone was already ringing.
“We’re going.” He shot at his father and clicked the line closed.
They made their way to her apartment, and he knocked on the door, got nothing, stood and tuned his hearing into the room and still got nothing. “She’s not here.” he murmured.
They checked the office to see if she was at work, up on the 7th floor. She wasn’t there either. He leaned on her office door and shook his head, “Snuck away, likely not in the city is my guess,” he told his father when he called for the third time. “She’s not in her apartment or the office. I don’t know her number you call her. I’m going home for the night.” He heard his father mutter as he hung up and chuckled softly. “Let’s grab a beer, boys, we got a night off.”
“Unlikely Jared, he’s going to find out where she is, and call you back to go and get her. You know that right,” Andy snorted.
“I ain’t going. He can go if he’s that desperate.” Jared chuckled softly. Wynta had once again. beaten his father at his own game, it seemed, and it amused him more than a little. “21 to 0” he snorted, and his unit laughed as well.
