“Make sure those diaries are kept in the suite” I ordered “And besides myself or Jax, don’t tell anyone about them, not even my parents, as I said, we don’t tell people that my uncle was the first, all anyone knows is that he got turned and it corrupted him”
“I won’t say anything” She said seriously and bit into a seasoned toasted tomato “My mom really cared about him but she didn’t really like your dad”
“Well he is an aquired taste” I joked but Maddie still looked concerned
I was really curious about her mother, I wanted to speak to my father or grandmother about her and find out why they’d never mentioned her but when I requested to speak with them but they’d both brushed me off yesterday
“From what she’s written about him, he was kind of mean when he was growing up”
“Some Alpha’s can be big headed” I told her “Especially growing up”
“Were you and Jax like that?”
“Well I don’t know how my dad was or what your mother wrote” I pointed out “But there was a time when we were pretty full of ourselves, when you grow up being told you’re special, it kind of sticks and you start to think you’re better then everyone, luckily, we had a cousin who liked to bring up back down to reality”
Maddie nodded and took another bite of food so I quickly changed the subject, I had to get my hands on those diaries and see what else her mother had divulged about our family.
Flynn told me to just ask our mate to look at them but I got the feeling she’d object.
After breakfast, I took Maddies small hand on mine and we went down the throne room.
Thankfully there was no brall this morning so our trip went a lot smoother then yesterday but when we turned the corner I saw Blake standing with her father… great, just f*cking great.
Maddie tensed when she saw Blake, she must have recognised her scent from the night we met and I felt a wave of guilt, why had I ever taken a girlfriend, I should have just listened to Jax and had f*ck buddies.
Blake looked up at us and frowned when she saw me holding my mates hand but I didn’t let go, Blake would have to accept that it was over sooner rather than later.
“Good morning Koda” Ryker said to me as we walked over to them by the doors
“Ryker” I nodded “Blake, this is Madelyn”
“It’s nice to finally meet you Luna” Ryker reached out but Maddie stepped closer to me and frowned at him, what was going on?
“Hello” Madelyn greeted him back but didn’t take his hand
Ryker looked confused by her rejection but didn’t press the matter and lowered his hand again.
“Blake, greet your Luna” Ryker ordered
Blake looked livid but she turned and bowed her head “Hello”
Madelyn looked uncomfortable but smiled at her kindly
“Hello, I’m sorry you were hurt because I met Koda” She surprised me by saying, I’d never heard a mate apologize to another person for claiming their own mate “It wasn’t my intention to hurt someone when I met my mate”
“What ever” Blake snapped and Flynn began to growl “You’re only saying that in front of Koda to seem like you’re the better person or to just rub it in, you don’t actually care that you broke us up or the we’re both heart broken, we were really in love and you just show up and expect to just get him for nothing, you dont even know him and”
“ENOUGH!” Ryker shouted before I could.
Several people in the hallway rushed away pretending to be busy
“IF I EVER HEAR YOU SPEAK TO YOUR LUNA LIKE THAT AGAIN I WILL MAKE YOU REGRET IT!” He shouted at her before lowering his voice
“Why are you defending her!?” Blake shouted back “She’s just some servant who is using Cody for his rank, she doesn’t care about him!”
“SHUT UP!” I ordered and she cringed back “DON’T YOU EVER ACCUSE HER OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT, YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HER”
“NEITHER DO YOU!”
“Blake that’s enough!’ Ryker yelled at her again ‘I did not raise you to forget your rank and manners just because you were slighted, Koda is not your mate, I told you both from the beginning that it would end this way and you said you could handle it if he found his mate, well it’s happened, so handle it, for goddess sake girl, you will find your true mate one day, just be patient!”
Blake burst into tears, her father never shouted at her ‘She’s completely fake and you’re all falling for it’ She shouted and rushed passed us.
Maddie watched her go with her hands over her mouth and tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry” She said quickly “I didn’t mean… I really wasn’t faking, I meant what I said, I didn’t mean for her to get hurt”
“It isn’t your fault Luna” Ryker said as he looked in the direction his daughter had gone “It’s my fault, I’ve spoiled her too much and now she thinks she can get away with anything, I apologise for her behaviour, please forgive her, excuse me”
Ryker went into the throne room and I looked over at Maddie who still seemed upset.
“Please don’t worry about this” I gently touched her cheek “I’m the one to blame for this whole mess, not you, don’t feel guilty”
“She said you were in love” Maddie said in a low voice
“She may have been but not me” I said firmly”I told you the day we met, I have never loved anyone, well… at least not until now”
Maddie looked up at me with wide eyes but didn’t press the subject, good… I didn’t want to say the actual words in a hallway, I wanted to tell her that I loved her in private and preferably when she was naked.
“Come on” I took her hand again and led her into the throne room
Maddie looked around nervously at all the councilors already seated but I squeezed her hand in comfort and walked her up to my parents.
JAXSON’S POV
I barely slept, I hated this stupid bed and this stupid cell, I failed to see why I was being punished for what I did, he f*cking deserved it!
Being a prince gave me some perks though and my cell was one of the nicest, but I’d still rather be in my own bedroom with my mate, I missed her scent more then I could even say and I couldn’t get those images of her scars out of my mind so sleep was hard to come by and at sunrise I gave up trying and just worked out until breakfast was brought over to me.
“Great” I sighed “Porridge”
“I can get you something else if you’d like Alpha?” The girl said nervously as she passed me the tray
“It’s fine”
I took the tray and sat down on the small table to eat but Knox complained the entire time as the bland slop.
“Heading down to the throne room for the meeting” Koda linked me later in the morning
“Okay” I responded as I paced around the cell, I needed to get out of here, I hated small spaces “Don’t let them bully her”
“I’ve got it” He said back “Just enjoy your vacation”
“Shut up!” I growled and cut the link and glared at the stupid white wall
Only seconds after I cut the link, one of the guards Seth came and opened the door “Times up Alpha”
