LeeAca’s POV
I was sitting in the garden with Amara drinking coffee when Markus comes running around the corner out of breath. Amara and I look at him in confusion. Fen starts to pace at the worry he is emitting.
“There you are!” Markus comes up skidding to a stop. “I need you to come with me. Alarick needs to see you ASAP.” He says, making me worried. Did Garret tell him about me? Fen starts pacing even more. I stand up and give Amara my coffee and follow Markus. Once we reach Alarick’s office I can feel his anger through the door. Oh goddess. I think as Markus nudges me to go in. I take a deep breath and open the door and walk in. As soon as his eyes meet mine he calms down a little. Markus walks in behind me and closes the door. I turn to the right and see a hole in the wall. He must have done that.
“LeeAca.” Alarick says then I turn to him. I see a grave expression on his face and become a little more relaxed. It isn’t about my secret, if it was he would have disgust and anger all over.
“You needed to see me?” I say and move closer to the chairs and take a seat. Alarick follows suit and sits down in his chair. Markus takes a seat next to me and starts shaking his leg nervously.
“I just got out of an emergency meeting with the elder council.” Alarick starts but doesn’t elaborate.
“Okay?” I ask. Encouraging him to elaborate. He takes a deep breath and looks me in my eyes.
“They are calling for a Luna challenge by the end of the week. Not fight to the death, but till unconscious or submission.” He explains. Fen growls in my head and I hear Markus gasp to the right of me.
“Okay.” Is all I say. I am not sure what else to even say at the moment. They were pushing him to find a Luna and now they want him to hold a Luna challenge. Why not do this to begin with?
“I know that this is not part of our deal, so you are allowed to back out. It is the only thing I was allowed to do.” He says looking down sadly.
“F*ck this! Who do those people think we are pu*sies? No fight till death. We are fighting till death and we are not backing out. It will make us look weak and we are NOT weak!” Fen yells at me.
“I will do it.” I say and he shoots his head up. I can feel slight relief. “But it will be fought till death.” I say making him panic.
“You don’t have to do that, only until submission.” He argues.
“Who does he think he is?” Fen scoffs.
“If somebody were to challenge you, what would you do?” I ask, trying to prove my point.
“Well Alpha’s fight till death. That is the only way to prove you are the true winner.” He says before even thinking about it. He realized what he did and face palms himself. I smile a little. He is cute when I trip him up.
“I get your point, but you don’t have to do that, LeeAca this wasn’t part of the deal. You can back out.” He says seriously.
“I will not sit back and let some dumba*s take over and be a sh*t ruler. You need somebody who can help the pack, not make it worse.” I argue and I see a smirk on his face.
“You want to be beside me and help the pack?” He asks a little too happy.
“Who said anything about being beside him? I can’t even stand the sight of him.” Fen bitches.
“I said nothing of the such. I only wish to help the pack.” I say and he chuckles, then he turns serious.
“I will inform the council and till the time of the challenge I want you working with Garret.” He says and Markus huffs in annoyance.
“I am the Beta, why Garret?” He finally butts in, asking Alarick.
“Because you and LeeAca are close. You will take it easy on her and I need somebody to not have that mentality.” He said looking at Markus, almost daring him to disagree. He only huffs and crosses his arms pouting. Alarick looks at me.
“Go get changed and meet Garret at the training grounds. You will be having a rough 5 days.” He says and I nod my head and walk out.
Alarick’s POV
As soon as LeeAca walks out I start to run my fingers through my hair. Markus starts ranting and pacing the office.
“Fight till death? Is she crazy? I know she has some training, her father is a gamma. But who’s to say our female head warrior won’t take a shot at it. Does she know it is any element? Physical, wolf, weapons, gifts? I don’t think she has trained since she has been here. What happens when..”
“Markus! Stop!” I yell in frustration and he stops and looks at me with worry in his eyes. “She explained why she wants to fight till death and I understand. I know as well as you that there is no changing her mind. No matter how much we might want her to.” I say running my fingers through my hair again. Why did I agree to this.. I haven’t even seen her train. Onin is quite in my head which is making matters worse.
“Just keep an eye on her if it will make you feel better. I need to go talk with the council.” I say as I stand up. They are still here getting ready for the event.
LeeAca’s POV
After going and getting changed I head to the training area in the square. It is a lot different then where I train with Lucas. When I walk over I see that the warriors are still sparring, so I decide to sit and watch. I picked out Lucas right away. He is actually sparring with a large man. Maybe twice his size. Garret is walking around and watching everybody. I see that the large man landed a blow to Lucas’s left cheek, which pisses me and Fen off. He saw that coming, but didn’t duck. After the man went to throw again Lucas dodged it and successfully grabbed his arm flipping the man over.
