“Don’t you ever speak to my mate like that again!” The King said threateningly.
“I second that” Koda added angrily
“Madelyn” King Theo turned to me and I felt very nervous and began fidgeting with my fingers “Troy has made claims that you are mentally unstable. What do you say about that?”
“This is ridiculous!” Koda shouted before I could speak “You’re really going to put her through this cr*p because of a dam werewolf!”
“Sit down and shut up!”
“NO!”
“Koda please, it’s okay” I said quickly when the King’s eyes turned black “I can answer”
Koda looked at me with a guilty expression but finally he nodded
“Okay” He said before turning to Jordan “You just wait until Jax and I have the throne, you will be the first to go!”
“Do not threaten the council members and sit down!” Queen Kara told her hot headed son.
Even in my current confused and afraid state, seeing Koda so strong and powerful was a turn on but I forced those hormones to go back into their box and tried to focus.
“So Madelyn” King Theo spoke “What do you think of Troy’s allegations?”
“I think..” I nervously looked up at the King and then Koda who smiled at me in encouragement “I think that he’s lying”
“So you’re not mentally unstable?” Beta Ryker asked “You don’t go into fits of rage, you don’t black out from time to time”
I frowned at him, how did he know about my black outs.
They happened sometimes but not for years.
“Answer him” The King demanded
“I.. I had blackouts when I was little” I admitted before turning back to Koda who looked worried “But, I swear, not for years and it only happened after Alpha Troy..”
“After he what?” Koda asked
I gulped and felt my heart racing “After he hurt me”
“Why did he hurt you?” Jordan asked “Were you behaving aggressively?”
“No”
“Then why would your Alpha hurt you?”
“Because I wouldn’t follow his orders”
“So you admit to disobedience?”
“So what!” Koda shouted “She shouldn’t have had to follow that dogs orders in the first place and soon she’ll be Queen and will never have to follow anyone’s orders again”
“Even if she did act aggressively” Beta Cole joined the conversation “It was clear it was in self defense and I think the question we should be asking today, is how we intend to deal with her aggressors, the Luna was harmed by a werewolf and that should not go unpunished.”
“Stop trying to change the subject” Another man in the council said angrily”We will deal with the wolf later, right now we’re deciding on the Luna’s mental state!”
“Her mental state is fine!” Koda shouted
“The girls practically shaking” Jordan pointed out “How is that fine?”
“I think that” The Queen began to speak but she was cut short by the King
‘The meeting is over!’ The King suddenly announced and looked at the Queen in concern “We wanted to determine if the treaty was broken, it’s not, as for her stability, she’s troubled, that is clear but I deem her fit to rule, this matter is closed”
‘Is something wrong your majesty?’ Koda asked
‘We will talk tomorrow, everyone get out!’
I looked at Koda for how to react in this situation but he seemed as confused as everyone but simply stood up and came over to me as the others left ahead of us.
Once we were alone, he cupped my face in his hands ‘Are you alright?’
I nodded but it was a lie, I felt like I’d failed and now everyone knew how weak I was but Koda wound his arms around my waist and lifted me off the ground.
I giggled and quickly wound my arms and legs around him and he slowly moved his hands to my behind, which I suspect he did on purpose
‘Don’t worry about any of them’ He told me ‘Jax and I want you, nothing you said or did today, changes that’
‘Okay’ I said out of instinct, but I didn’t believe it, they’d know the truth one day and then they’d leave me.
‘I have to a few quick things for work but then I’ll take you home to wait for Jax unless you want to go back now?’
‘No, I want to stay with you’
‘Okay baby’ He told me as he placed me down on my feet again and held out his hand which I took and together we left the throne room.
MADELYN’S POV
We walked into the suite laughing at Cody’s lame joke but I paused when I smelt Jaxsons fresh scent
“Jax is home!” I jumped excitedly and looked around as if expecting to see him standing there.
“I smell paint” Koda said in a weary tone “Try his studio”
I rushed down the hallway in the direction the scent was coming from and pushed open the wooden door.
The smell of paint assaulted my nostrils and I crinkled up my nose but when I saw Jax shirtless, I forgot all about the smell.
Jaxson was standing at an easel shirtless and holding a brush but when he saw me barge in, he smiled and placed it on a bench and started wiping his hands.
I wanted to run to him but I hesitated, I’d literally just invited myself into his private area where he went to be alone but he didn’t seem to mind.
He smiled and held his hands out and I rushed over and leapt into his arms, hugging him tightly and pressing my face into his neck.
I took a deep calming breath of his delicious scent, I can’t believe how much I’d missed this man who I’d only known for a few days.
“I may be wrong but I think she missed you” Koda laughed from the doorway
“Well I am very missable” Jax annouced “I missed you to sweetheart”
