My body feels drained like I did heavy labor.
“So Hailey, I heard you went back to that house, did you find anything?”
“That’s not the time for this, Hailey is not well can’t you see?” Jaden vents.
“No no it’s fine” I say in a horse tone.
“Hailey we can talk about that later”
“Nella didn’t say much” I say ignoring Jaden and facing Ride.
“Nothing we don’t know of at least, Madam Von Grey is a member of the crown and something happened to the serum that makes wolves turn into mindless zombies”
“So is that good news or bad news”
“So far it’s just news”
“So what’s the plan”
“We have a lead, Madam Von Grey maybe she can lead us to the rest of the crown”
“How do you presume we do that”
“She is a manipulative woman and hard to crack but everyone has something that constrains them to break”
“So the bottom line is we have nothing on her ” Ride blurts stating the obvious I wanted to walk past.
Her house should be like a decade away and even if we breach the part of getting to watch her closely for how long?
She isn’t stupid, she will know something is amiss and one mistake may be the last thing we ever do.
“Well, I know my way around her house. If Ride can peer around and find something to make her talk, I can get him past her guards,” Jaden says, returning the lost hope.
“I can do that” Ride says with a shrug, pulling his lip ring between his teeth.
“I have a score to settle with her anyway”
It’s not much but it is somewhere to start. Maybe they can find evidence against them or a hideout, anything.
“Alright we leave now” Jaden says.
“Why so soon?” I ask, puzzled.
“Because the earlier we stop them the earlier we move on with our lives without fear “
He had a point.
“Unless you need us to stay with you?” He adds holding my hand.
“No, I’m fine, trust me” I assure.
“Aiit! I’m ready when you are” Ride announces.
Jaden kisses my temples.
“Take care my love if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask” He says affectionately.
“You too” I say, feeling my throat clench within, clutching my stomach. I force the puke down, keeping a smile till Jaden walks out the door.
I rush out the bed and hurry to the toilet vomiting once more.
That is strange flushing it. I wash my face, take a towel and wipe my face as the exhaustion takes hold of me once more.
I’m beginning to get frustrated.
A small knock on the grab my attention followed by the door creaking open Nisha comes to view a huge smile on her face.
“Hailey” She screams running and hugging me.
“Ouch!” I yelp in pain, Nisha looks at me suspiciously, now squinting her eyes a little
“Hailey you don’t look so good” Nisha says with a worried look, placing the back of her hand on my forehead.
“I’m fine just a bit…” I feel nauseous once more running out of her hands into the bathroom, which is now having a horrible stench.
“Hailey ” Nisha says behind me, holding my hair up and patting my back as I throw up.
With a small cough, I stepped away from the toilet. I must have caught the flu.
Nish pushes the lever on the toilet draining the waste.
“You don’t look fine to me” Nisha states.
“I’m fine trust me” I don’t know if I was trying to convince myself or her.
“Alright get to your feet up up” Nisha says, pulling me off the bathroom floor.
“We’re going to the hospital to get you checked” she says in a matter-of-fact tone.
“No Nisha that won’t be necessary”
“I insist” she says while running the bath.
“You take a nice warm bath I’ll go look for something comfortable you will wear”
I don’t have it in me to fight her, knowing how stubborn she can be.
Stripping from my clothes I step into the bathtub, the water easing some of the tension away.
Nisha picked out some underwear and a nice pink dress which she helped me wear.
The color on my face has returned a little but I still feel drained as we walk out of the pack house to the garage.
I’m lying In the hospital bed, a doctor has come to do a quick checkup on my body. I’ve been told to wait for a while as my test results are being processed.
The door swings open and the doctor steps in.
Wearing a lab coat and glasses she holds a document in hand her features relaxed which helps me breathe again.
I’ve known all along it was just a faze and she is here to confirm it.
“Mrs. Hailey Perry”
My chest tightens as butterflies fill my belly. This is the first time I’ve been referred to with Jaden’s last name.
“Yes, doctor what does the report say” I reply grinning stupidly.
“Congratulations Hailey Perry you’re having a baby”
“Pregnant” I breathe that’s… that’s…I don’t know the name of it.
Of course, I am happy, but I don’t want a baby now. With the issues of the crown a baby will only slow me down and if the crown gets to know we have one last defendant for the bloodline they’ll want to get my child.
A small knock on the door pulls me from my daze.
