“I will ask her for them but if she doesn’t want to give them up then I won’t force her”
“You really are the most stubborn”
“Enough” My mother cut off my fathers rant “Let’s go, we have to deal with the werewolf Alpha’s”
They left and I went back to my own office with a heavy heart, I couldn’t believe this, how was I meant to tell Maddie about all of this, or maybe she already knew because of the journals but hadn’t felt safe enough with myself and Jax to tell us yet, that thought hurt me, I wanted her to feel safe with us.
“Liam” I linked him once I’d gotten back to my office “Are you in the pack yet?”
“Yes Alpha” He responded instantly “We took the helicopter but I’m sorry, the Alpha isn’t here, we have some troops searching the pack in case someone is hiding him but theres no sign of him yet, we found the Luna though” He told me with a slight edge in his voice “She’s dead, we found her body in an old shed in the woods, it looks like an accident, there must have been some kind of fight or struggle and she fell back and a silver knife went through the back of her skull and..”
“And what?”
“And theres some strange things in here” He answered ‘Lots of weapons, and books filled with insane scribblings and plans to kill all the Lycans and there are pictures of a girl being tortured, I’ll call you so I can show you “But, you’re not going to like seeing them, I haven’t seen your mate yet but from the dscription I’ve heard about her, I think the girl in the pictures is her”
“Call me now!”
I was breathing hard and started to pace around my office and the second my phone began to ring, I snatched it up and opened the call.
“Show me!” I ordered and Liam flipped the camera and began walking around the old looking shed.
I recognised it from the video the Keeper had sent us and my stomach dropped, some of the pictures had been ripped in half and disgaurded on the ground but a few were still on the walls like some f*cking art show, Troy was sicker then I’d even imagined.
One picture of Maddie tied to the ceiling with ropes, showed her destroyed back that was bleeding and Flynn and I were finding it difficult to stay calm
“TAKE THEM DOWN NOW!” I shouted “PACK ALL OF THE PICTURES AND THOSE BOOKS UP TO BE BROUGHT BACK TO ME AND THEN BURN THE F*CKING SHED TO THE GROUND!”
“Yes Alpha” Liam said quickly “And the Luna’s body?”
“Let her pack take her for a proper burial” I answered “Let me know when you’re home”
I ended the call and got back to work but I couldn’t get those images out of my head, Maddie was just a f*cking toy to him, he’d put her through hell for his own sick gratification, I wanted him dead.. no I wanted him tortured every day for the rest of his life.
I pushed those violent thoughts away and focused on work again for the next few hours but when my office door opened, I looked up angrily, who the h*ll thought they could just come in without my permission but when I smelt my brothers and mates scent, my shackles went down again and I smiled but then I saw the frantic look on Jax’s face
MADELYN’S POV
“He’d.. he’d kill them” I admitted as tears fell down my face “Or… he’d force me too”
Jaxson looked at me with horror and I looked down in pain, this was it, this was when he’d leave me and he’d convince Koda to reject me too.
I sniffed and took a breath “If you want me to go, I understand but”
“Stop!” Jax grabbed me and held me tightly in his arms “I don’t want you to go anywhere, nothing you just told me changes how I feel and I know Cody feels the same way”
I couldn’t believe his words, how could he want me now?
“How many times did he make you kill someone?”
I closed my eyes in pain as memories flooded to the front of my mind “Three” I answered “The first time was a rouge who tried to kill Scott, I was 9, he’d tried to force me to kill someone when I was 8 but I refused and he… he beat me for the first time, the next two times I tried to refuse but he’d always threaten to kill someone else if I didn’t, I had no choice but after the last time, I swore I’d never kill anyone again, no matter what he did to me”
“These people he killed” Jax looked at me “Were any of them Lycan Alphas?”
“Yes” I frowned and looked up at him to see him looking worried “I only know about one but I’m sure there were more”
“I see” He nodded and looked thoughtfull, was he mad? “Did he”
There was loud crash and someone cried out and Jax sprang up and ran towards the noise with me close behind him and we found a blonde man laying under a ladder with blood all around him.
“Robert!” Jax rushed over and threw the ladder away “What happened?”
Robert reached over and grabbed his arm where a large cut was bleeding and Jaxson helped him into a sitting position
“I was trying to get the plums while they were ripe” The man told my mate as he looked over at me “If I don’t ferment them now, the wine will taste like trash”
“You nearly killed yourself to get plums for wine!?” I asked in confusion
Jax laughed and looked at me “It’s good wine sweetheart” He told me but I rolled my eyes “Rob, this is Madelyn, your new Luna, sweetheart this is Robert, he is one of our herbalists but he uses his skills to make the best wine in the Kingdom”
“Great use of your skills” I commented as I squatted and looked at his wound, it was still bleeding “This is deep, what did you land on?”
“My silver scissors” He groaned and looked over at a basket on the ground next to a punch of plums
“Why are you using silver scissors?”
“These aren’t normal plums Luna” Robert picked up one of the plums and examined it sadly “They’re mixed with small amounts of silver to give the wine a little kick but dam it, they’re these ones are all ruined”
“You’re literally bleeding out and you care about plums?”
“Sweetheart, it really is good wine”
“Honestly” I giggled at my mate
“We should get you to the healers” Jax added as he held his hand over the wound to stop the blood flow
“No need” I told them before looking around for something I could use to help “I can heal him”
“You can heal?” Jax asked and looked at me in shock
I got up and dragged a potted tree over to us “Is this an important tree?”
“No idea” Jax shrugged “What are you doing?”
I quickly explained about my healing process but avoided Jaxsons concerned look “So.. so if you heal Robert without a conduit, his wound will tranfer to you?”
“Yes” I knelt down again but Jax grabbed my wrist
“Are you sure this wont hurt you?” He asked ‘Becuase you’re not doing if it will?”
I smiled at my mate and felt very protected, getting used to this kind of careing was so strange but I nodded “I’ll be alright”‘
After carefully examining the area, I gently placed my hand over the bleeding wound, apologizing when Robert flinched a little at the contact.
I closed my eyes and felt a warmth under my hand as it began to glow and I slowly pulled the energy back through my hand, up my arm and out the other hand into the tree which began to blacken.
“Are you okay?” Jax asked in concern but I nodded and opened my eyes.
After a few seconds, I pulled my wet hand off Roberts body and Jax passed me a handkerchief.
