“Why the hell shouldn’t I, you could easily do that”
“Maybe if you love your daughter you’ll rethink that decision” Her eyes go wide then darken.
“You’re bluffing” She spits “And so help me if you’re not you have an image of how cruel I can be maybe it’s time I show you”
“You lay a finger on me your daughter’s corpse will be delivered to your front door”
“How dare you!” She shouts, giving a resounding slap, making my neck crane.
“You sluty daughter of a traitor you’re not fit to even wash my feet and here you are laying treats”
Suddenly all hell breaks loose the anger that has been kept at bay engulfs me making my muscles clench so hard it hurts.
With vast speed, I give an equally hard slap on her face making her toss the gun to the side.
Her perfect hair comes loose and she stares back at me, chaotic and a bit confused.
She throttles me pulling my hair and digging her nails into my hands.
“You dare touch me I can ruin all of this glory you are glowing in, the audacity for you to even think you can match me ” She says smacking me in the face I bite the insides of my cheeks as the side of my face burns.
I grip her wrist, twisting it behind her and pull a fist full of her hair. She retaliates yelling I let her go while scratching my arm.
“You signed your death wish the day you came across me, I promise you’ll meet your demise staring at me you witch I feel so sorry for your daughter she’ll miss you” I yell behind her ears.
She shoves me with her elbows making me stumble back.
“Well glad you voiced your intentions let’s see who wins in this game Hailey Stewarts” Furious, she stomps out of the room.
My belly starts aching plus the bruises I’ve managed to sustain.
Holding my hand on my belly I limp back to my room as Helana starts the healing.
I hope I’m not this careless in the future. I am now fending for two. My child is my priority.
Turning the doorknob I push open the door, panting.
“Hailey!” Jaden cries rushing to my side.
“What happened to you?” His instincts to protect his mate kick in but I caress his arm, this is little I have dealt with worse.
“We had a visitor, Madam Von Grey” I explained with a lot of effort.
“Hailey” Nisha says strolling into the room, her eyes going wild as she sees my forlorn state.
“What the hell?! what happened?” She questions following me to the bed.
“Just a little scratch nothing to be distressed about”
“Nothing to worry about! don’t you realize you’re or…” She stops herself just in time her mouth hangs open realizing she’s about to spill the beans.
“You should take better care of yourself” I let out the breath I was brandishing, which was close, giving Nisha a look as I settled in my bed.
“Hey, Nisha ma” I don’t know who’s more perplexed Nisha or me when she sees Madam Von Grey’s child.
“Ehmm hey… Eh mm” Nisha stutters.
“You’ve met,” Ride asks.
“Yes, Nish visits our house” the child says.
“Oh children, funny things they’ll say,” Nisha jokes.
“What is she doing here?”Nisha asks.
“Same reason I’m in this state” I answer absent-mindedly thinking of where to keep the child, the pack house is not a safe option.
“Ride you need to leave these premises with the child.
She is our only alibi.
“Lord Perry’s house can do the trick” Dimitri suggests, I hadn’t realized he was in the room.
Great, we have a full house; everything counts at this point.
That is a great option. There are so many rooms in the house I believe Lord Perry hasn’t been in them.
“You do that pronto, take routes that are not likely to be used, be careful, and do not let this girl out of your sight for any reason” I instruct sternly.
Madam Von is plotting and we need to be a step ahead.
“Here age is,” Jaden says, worried.
A doctor walks in, that was fast and totally unnecessary.
This is just a waste of time.
She sits by my side examining my body.
“Hailey, how did you get bruised?” Nisha.
“Just a little bicker with Madam Von Grey nothing to fuss about” I respond, glancing at Jaden.
“We should get her to Lord Perry’s mansion” Dimitri suggests, leaving his seat and giving me a sympathetic smile.
“Be careful” I say as he exits the room with Ride and the child.
“This may sting a little but it’ll help with the pain” the doctor says softly holding an injection.
Braving myself I avert my gaze as she holds my arm.
Sliding a cotton swab before she gently penetrates my arm, the needle stings into my skin, and the pain intensifies a bit as she removes the needle.
The drug must be effective, instantly I feel my head spin, drowsily I look back at the doctor as I force my eyelids open an evil smirk settles on her face the last thing I see as I’m pulled into the darkness.
In severe pain, I awakened, rising with a throbbing head like I had been knocked out.
For a while, I stay in that position rubbing my temples trying to gain relief.
Blinking vastly to unblur my vision I gaze around with a gut feeling of Deja Vu, not the good kind, the type you want to run away from and never return to.
I find myself relieving a terrible nightmare, lying on rocks I had for a bed, draped in rags with a heinous smell for clothes in a small room with only a tiny table and ceramic cup positioned.
Managing to grasp energy I surge from the bed and my mind spins in upheaval.
The floor flings open staring in that direction a bulky woman stands at the doorway with a furious look on her face.
“You lazy swine, you lie in bed all day and expect who to do the cleaning” Her cranky voice blurts as she takes a step forward.
I don’t recognize or understand her.
“Excuse me?” I say softly, the ache in my head has subsided a little but I’m still at loss for a logical explanation of how I winded up here of what she expects of me, maybe I am still dreaming.
“Tch! Your mama never taught you manners well I ain’t teaching you or going to tolerate your laziness” Stepping closer she grabs my arm tightly with her wrinkled finger dragging me to the door.
