“Wow” Robert exclaimed and rotated his arm “That’s amazing, not even the healers do that good of a job, thank you Luna”
I smiled happily, no one had ever thanked me for healing them, it was just expected that I do it and I was pleased but didn’t know how to react.
“Go home and get cleaned up” Jax ordered “I’ve already linked someone to come clean up”
“Yes your majesty” He said as he got off the ground.
I followed his actions but Jax quickly took my arm and helped me up, the gesture was sweet and I blushed a little
“Thank you again Luna” Robert bowed “The first batch of wine is yours as thanks”
“That’s really kind of you, thanks”
We watched Robert walk away and I turned back to Jax in concern
“You don’t think he overheard our conversation do you?” I asked “Maybe that’s why he fell”
“No” Jax assured me “The area we were in has a privacy spell, no one can hear inside that room unless the doors opened, how are you feeling, does it drain you to heal?”
“No, I’m alright” I promised him “Thank you for worrying about me”
Jax smiled and kissed my forehead
“It’s my job” He pointed out happily “I hope this healing doesn’t make Ava lose energy, it will take her longer to wake up and Knox is really anxious to meet her”
I smiled, it was so wonderful to know she’d be with me again soon.
“She’s fine” I told him as he took my hand and led us back to the picnic blanket “She’s been moving alot today, I think she’ll be up any day now”
“I can’t wait for our first run together” He went on with an excited glint in his eyes “And Knox can’t wait to speak with you”
“Can’t I speak with him today?”
I sat back down and looked at Jax who stared at me in confusion as he sat down but then realisation dawned on him.
“Oh, that’s right, I keep forgetting you grew up with dogs” He said “Werewolves can interact with their mates at anytime before the marking but Lycans can only talk to the host after they’ve made a connection with their Lycan mate first, you’ll have to wait until Knox and Flynn meet Ava and only after the marking can you communicate through the link”
“Oh” I said in relief “I thought they didn’t want to meet me because they didn’t want me”
“What?” He gasped and touched my face “They’re dying to speak with you sweetheart, they are very fond of you”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“I’m glad” I exhaled in relief “I can’t wait to see them, are Lycan Alpha’s black like werewolf Alphas”
“Yes” He answered as he picked up and hand and started playing with my fingers but I noticed his fingers pause over a small scar on the side of my hand and his eyes darkened a little “But we each have blue markings around our throats, we think it’s because we’re twins because no other Alpha’s have had any marking other then their mates marks, what colours Ava, most Luna’s are blackish brown”
“Oh, no, Ava’s white”
“Ava is what?” Jaxson looked around nervously
“She’s a white”
Before I could finish, Jax put his hand over my mouth to silence me
“Be quiet” He ordered “Don’t ever say that out loud again, come on, we have to go speak with Koda”
“Did I do something wrong?” I asked as he pulled me to my feet but he didn’t answer me “Jax, what’s wrong, why are you mad?”
“I’m not mad at you sweetheart” He told me but continued to walk “I’m worried, please just be quiet, I’ll explain once we speak with Cody”
I was so confused, had I done something wrong? He didn’t react badly to my murder confession but he was freaking out about Ava being white, what was wrong with that, she looked beautiful, did he think this meant we weren’t acutally mates because most Luna’s were blackisht brown?
MADELYN’S POV
Jaxson was silent the entire journey to his office but his hand stayed firmly on mine which gave me a small amount of comfort, maybe he wasn’t upset with me afterall…. I didn’t know what was happening.
After we walked into his office, my heart fluttered when I saw Cody look up from his desk, he seemed crumpy but then he smiled at me and I returned it.
I was extremely tempted to go and hug him, I wanted his touch but then I felt pretty selfish, I had two mates, you’d think I have had my fill already after spending the day with Jaxson but upon seeing Koda, I felt like I’d been deprived of his embrace and wanted nothing more to be in his arms
This response shocked me, when had I become so needy or depended on him and Jaxson
“Whats going on?” Koda asked as Jax slammed the door shut and turned back to his brother
“She’s white” Jax announced and I felt a twinge of rejection, why was he so mad?
“Who’s white, what are you talking about?” Koda stood up and moved around his desk “What have I told you about day drinking?”
“Shut it Koda!” Jaxson growled and walked over to the window and closed it, I’m guessing to make sure the privacy spell was activated “Can you be serious for one f*cking second!”
“What, calm down”
“Ava is white!” Jaxson pointed at me and Koda’s eyes widened as he looked me over
“How do you know?”
“Madelyn just told me”
At this point, I had tears in my eyes ‘What’s so wrong with her being white?”
“Sh*t” Koda sat on the edge of his desk
“What are we going to do?” Jaxson asked “If Fenrir finds out about this, he’ll come after her!”
“We can keep this quiet” Koda looked at his brother “Who knows Ava’s white?”
“What’s going on?” I asked, getting grumpy now
“ANSWER ME!” Koda shouted and I stepped back in fear and his face softened and he quickly stood up again and approached me but I stepped back and he froze with his hands outstretched “I’m sorry, I’m calm, please, just tell us, who know’s Ava’s white?”
I was so confused “Alpha Troy and his family”
“Is that all?” Jax asked but there was a concerned look in his eyes and his heart was racing
“A few guards new but Alpha Troy killed them” I told them “What’s going on?”
