“This explains why he wants her so much” Koda turned back to Jaxson who nodded “And it’s worst then Ava being white, her mother was too, she was with Fenrir during the war”
“What do you mean?” Jaxson asked ‘How do you know that?”
Koda reached out his hand and Jaxson took it and they stayed silent for a few seconds, what was going on?
Jaxson pulled away from his brother and looked horrified as he turned to me “F*ck”
“What is going on!?” I asked “What did you just do?”
“We shared each others memories” Jax told me and I remembered them mentioning this gift during our first breakfast together, it was still strange to witness though
“Baby come sit down please” Koda pleaded “We have to talk to you about somethings”
“Okay” I nervously sat down while my heart raced
“Sweetheart” Jaxson sat beside me and took my hand in both of his “There was a white Lycan with our uncle who started the war, she created the first werewolves and it was your mother, Koda found out today from our parents, we knew there was a white Lycan but didn’t know who and were told she’d died during the war”
“Our father had killed her” Koda added “But it turns out that she survived and ran away”
“I know my mom was the one who created the werewolves” I admitted “I read it in her diary”
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Koda asked
“I was going to” I told them sincerly “It’s just… I’ve never known anything about her and I just wanted to keep things to myself for a little while, it made me feel close to her, like we had a secret, it’s stupid I know”
“No it’s not” Koda shook his head
“We understand” Jax kissed my hands “But Ava being a white Lycan like your mother isn’t good”
“Why,?” I asked with a frown “Ava had nothing to do with the war”
“Our uncle may try to escape and get to you” Koda sounded nervous and I could see the fear in his eyes “He’s always delcared that he was going to escape and finish what he started and that one day he’d have a new white Lycan”
“We’ll need to tell our parents and take steps to keep you safe” Jaxson was just as troubled as his brother and it made the seriousness of this situation set in, I was in danger again “And we cannot let anyone see Ava until we can deal with our uncle”
“Our father has always refused to kill him” Koda told me “It’s his twin brother afterall” He added and looked at his own twin “I know I could never hurt Jax but we have no such loyalty to our uncle and if it puts you in danger then he’s dead, the moment we have the crown, we’ll call for his execution”
“No” I shook my head as tears filled my eyes “Please don’t kill someone because of me”
“I’m sorry sweetheart but its happening”
“We cannot put you at risk” Koda touched my face “And speaking of killing someone, I have Jax’s memories of your conversation and I want you to know that I don’t think any less of you for killing, that was all on Troy”
I nodded and looked down but then Jax kissed my hands again “There’s something else”
“We’ve send out an arrest order for Troy”
“What, why?!” My heart began to race hard as I looked up at my mates who exchanged a look
“Baby” Koda said, his voice thick with pity “We have video footage of what Troy did to you”
I couldn’t believe what he just said “What?” I whispered, no, they’d seen how weak I was “How?”
“We were send a phone with evidence on it” Jax told me
“Who sent it?”
“Someone who named himself a Keeper” He told me and froze
“Keeper?”
“Yes” Koda answered “And our parents have told me that it’s not a name, it’s a title, a Keeper is someone who takes care of powerful beings”
“But.. that doesn’t make sense”
“Why?” Jax asked
“Because…” I hesitated “Because the keeper has been sending me notes, but I’m not a powerful being”
Jax stood up and his eyes darkened as he ran his fingers through his hair “Some man has been communicating with you and you didn’t think to mention this to your MATES!”
“Jax calm down” Koda order but I could tell he was angry too “We don’t even know if the Keepers a man and that isn’t the issue right now, Maddie, you should have told us that someone was sending you notes, this person could have been a threat to you, what did the Keeper write in the notes?”
I told them about the note from the club and the one I found after my coffee date with Evet and the twins looked livid and Jax was shaking and looking towards the window.
“You should have told us about this” Koda’s voice shook with barely contained anger
“I was going too” I said quickly “But you have to understand, I’ve always been alone, I’ve only ever had myself, letting you both in is hard for me but I’ve been trying to open up more”
Jax growled and rubbed his face “We know” He acknowledged “But from this moment on, you will tell us if the Keeper contacts you again”
“I will, I’m sorry”
“And if someone ever tells you to go somewhere again, you WILL tell us” Jax added angrily and glared down at me “You could have been killed, you could have be abducted”
“I’m sorry” I said again in a low voice, he had a point, it was stupid of me but I wanted to know about my mother
“You should be!” Jax ranted at me “Do you have any idea what we’d go through if something had happened to you, you have mates now, you need to start considering us as apart of your life!”
“Alright Jax, she gets it, back off” Koda ordered as he rubbed his hand up and down my arm in comfort “We’ve gotten off track, baby, about Troy, he’s missing, so is his son, so you will no longer be going anywhere alone until he’s in custody”
“I understand” I nodded “But I should contact Luna Morgan and speak to her, she doesn’t know how he treated me, she’s innocent in this and I have to at least try to make her understand”
The twins exchanged a glance and I frowned
“Please” I pleaded “She’s not like Alpha Troy”
“Baby, about Luna Morgan” Koda said gently but Jax touched his shoulder
“Don’t” He ordered but Koda moved his hand over “You’re going to ruin tonight”
“Stop thinking about your d*ck” He commented before turning back to me “Baby, Morgan is dead”
I felt like the world just stopped, I hadn’t expected to hear that, she was gone, how did I feel about that, was I sad, did I feel nothing, did I feel guilty?
“Sweetheart?”
“How did she die?”
