Chapter 72 – Abandoned Luna Now Untouchable (Cecilia & Sebastian) Novel Free Online by Lila

Perhaps the fruit had been particularly sweet this morning?

Alpha Sebastian continued eating with an appetite that seemed unusually hearty.

Beta Sawyer decided it wasn’t the right moment to discuss work.

Just then, his phone rang.

He glanced at it and muttered, “Why is Celina calling so early?”

He was about to step outside to answer when a cool voice stopped him.

“Take it here.”

“…Oh. Right.” Beta Sawyer didn’t understand the request but obeyed.

“Celina,” he answered.

Her voice came through warm and cheerful. “Beta Sawyer, what time will you get to the office?”

“Around nine. Why?”

“Well, I’m supposed to start work today, but I don’t have my access card yet, and I’m not sure which floor my office is on. I was hoping you could come down and help me.”

She knew she was being a bit forward but counted on their friendly rapport to get away with it.

Beta Sawyer laughed. “You haven’t left yet, have you? I’m upstairs. Come up and you can ride to the office with Alpha Sebastian.”

There was silence on the other end for a moment.

“I think I’ll just meet you at the office,” Celina finally said.

What kind of employee barges into their boss’s home uninvited and expects a ride?

The dining room was quiet enough that Alpha Sebastian caught most of her reply.

He set his glass down on the table-hard.

“Are you her personal assistant now? Tell her to find HR herself!” His voice was icy.

His words traveled through the phone to Celina’s ears.

Beta Sawyer looked uncomfortable.

Quickly, Celina jumped in, “That’s fine, that’s fine! Beta Sawyer, just send me the HR manager’s contact info and I’ll handle it myself.”

Beta Sawyer sighed. “Alright, I’ll send it right away.”

“Thanks. See you at the office,” she replied brightly before hanging up.

Celina

I sank down at my vanity table and let out a deep breath.

So much for convenience.

First day on the job and Alpha Sebastian had already caught me trying to get special treatment from a colleague.

Poor Beta Sawyer got scolded because of me.

My phone buzzed twice.

A message from Beta Sawyer had arrived.

I opened WhatsApp, which I hadn’t checked since waking up-too busy making breakfast and putting on makeup.

Just as I was about to tap his message, I noticed the conversation below it.

Alpha Sebastian Black.

But what made my heart stop cold was the message beneath his name:

[Yes, babe]

My mind short-circuited in horror.

Babe?

BABE?!

Wait… this was MY WhatsApp account, right? MINE! MY account!

I had called Alpha Sebastian “BABE”!!

AAAAAAHHHH!!

My thoughts exploded like a nuclear mushroom cloud, my pupils dilated in panic, my hands trembling as if I had suddenly developed Parkinson’s…

No, no, no!

This couldn’t be real!

It absolutely couldn’t be!

I threw my phone aside, backing away and covering my mouth with both hands, staring at the device lying innocently on the floor with pure anguish.

It took me a full ten minutes to stand there, trying to accept this terrible reality.

Finally, I sat back down at my vanity.

Taking a deep breath, I picked up my phone again and carefully checked the timestamp. He had messaged me at 1 AM.

I couldn’t see exactly when I’d replied.

Maybe he was as sleepy as I was when he sent the text and hadn’t seen my reply yet?

If only I could somehow get upstairs and delete the message from his phone… but the difficulty of that mission was astronomical.

Still, I decided to try.

Things were already this bad-what was one more desperate act?

I deleted my message first, destroying the evidence, then grabbed my purse and headed upstairs.

When I appeared in the penthouse dining room, all three men turned to look at me.

I forced my lips into a strained smile. “Good morning.”

Alpha Sebastian studied my flushed face, a knowing smile curling at the corners of his lips as he spoke slowly and deliberately, “Celina, you look like you slept… very well.”

Celina

A sudden chill ran down my spine, and my smile froze awkwardly on my lips. A wave of dread surged through me, tightening like a vise around my chest.

I was utterly doomed.

His reaction, combined with the dark circles shadowing his eyes from sleepless nights, revealed everything I feared to admit-he had seen my message. There was no denying it.

Unable to hold his gaze, I quickly dropped my eyes and cleared my throat nervously. “I slept alright… mostly because I had some wine last night,” I mumbled, trying to sound casual.

“I was really out of it-seeing double and all that, you know? Haha.” Even to my own ears, the laugh sounded hollow and forced.

Alpha Sebastian’s expression hardened instantly. The warmth drained from his face, replaced by a cold, sharp look. A strange glint flickered in his eyes as he said quietly, “Alcohol isn’t an excuse.”

I scrambled for a response, desperation creeping into my voice. “Really, when I drink, my vision gets all blurry, and my fingers go completely out of control, like they’re… like they’re…” I stumbled, searching for the right phrase. “Like they’re possessed!”

Sebastian snorted derisively. “Keep making excuses.”

Embarrassment flushed my cheeks as I fell silent.

Determined, I forced myself to look more sincere. “It really was just a slip of the finger,” I confessed, almost pleading. Even if I were half-asleep, I would never intentionally call him ‘baby.’ The only explanation was that my brain and fingers weren’t syncing properly.

But Alpha Sebastian seemed done with my excuses. “Enough. If you’re bold enough to claim a finger slip now, next time it’ll be a slip of the tongue. You need to own your actions, Celina.”

His piercing stare accused me of being some shameless woman who wouldn’t take responsibility after getting what she wanted.

My heart nearly stopped.
