Chapter 74 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

“You are too attach to her, Khaos. It will ruin our plan in the future if you are being too sympathetic with her.”

They knew what would happen to the Shell and if it continued, Khaos wouldn’t have a heart to watch her suffering and the completion of the beauty blood would be jeopardized.

“You know that you are not being reasonable here. You need to distance yourself from her before you are too involved with her emotionally. We are very close, Khaos. We are very close to our goal. Remember what they have done to your family, to your whole dynasty.

Remember to what they have done to the family and all the people, who has supported the old dynasty. Remember the suffering that your supporter had to go through in those greedy hands. They will not rest in peace before we can avenge them.

Remember the late king and queen, your father and mother, who were killed and betrayed. Don’t let yourself to be distracted, Khaos. It’s not worth it.”

“King Dacre, are you still awake?” Rose asked from outside of his tent.

It was snowing tonight and the wind was so cold, thus Rose was wearing extra layer of cloak to keep her warm. She was fidgeting, while standing outside of the king’s tent, waiting for him to answer.

Thankfully, a moment later Dacre walked out of his tent, he frowned to see her trembling because of the cold.

“What are you doing here?” Dacre asked.

“I want to give you a report about alpha Khaos’s ships. The scouts have found them.”

“You don’t have to be the one to report this.”

“Can we talk inside please, king Dacre?”

“No. Let’s talk here.”

Dacre would be very dense if he couldn’t see right through Rose’s intention for coming here personally to deliver the news. The scout should have come right away to meet him instead of relaying the information to Rose.

It became more obvious when Rose blatantly asked to enter his tent. She looked surprised when Dacre denied it, but she was graceful enough to not make a big deal out of it.

“The scouts have found five ships of food supplies in the River Creek’s pier. Those are big ships, but from the look of it, they wouldn’t have enough room to supply people with food until the end of the winter.” Rose touched her chin, thinking. “At best, they will be running out of food within a few weeks from now.”

Dacre nodded, as he listened to her analysis. “Do you have any idea what to do?”

Rose narrowed her eyes. “I am thinking of a plan, but I am not sure if the king will agree to it or not.”

“Let’s hear about it.”

The cold wind came from the north and Rose shuddered because of that. She tightened the cloak around her and her voice was trembling when she spoke, but Dacre stopped her.

“Let’s talk about this in the morning.” Dacre lifted his head and looked at the sky. “From the look of it, there will be an avalanche tonight. I hope it will not come our way.”

Rose looked disappointed, she thought the king would invite her inside when he saw her, but to her dismay, he didn’t even bother with the offer, not even a cup of warm tea.

“You can leave now, rest well because tomorrow will be another long journey,” Dacre said and before Rose replied, he already entered his tent, leaving her standing alone there.

Rose was dumbfounded. How could the king treat her like this when he needed her.

With a heavy heart and steps, Rose returned to her tent and tried to think the best plan that she could come up with, so she could impress the king.

She felt pathetic because the king didn’t even bother to see the subtle advance.

There was avalanche for tonight, the wind became harsher and it rattle the windows, the temperature dropped and it was very cold.

Still, it didn’t deter their plan to continue with the curse on Zuri.

“What do you mean we can’t get inside?” Elijah asked, he had come here with fifteen of magic users and also Rhett.

But, when they were about to enter Zuri’s bedroom, Gayle stopped them with twenty of his warriors. They were surprised to see these warriors guarded the bedroom.

“Alpha Khaos’s order,” Gayle said, he stood his ground.

Rhett was not happy with this. He was already very upset when he heard what happened earlier this morning with Zuri. If something happened to his sister then a decade of effort would go to the drain.

However, he had not yet heard about the punishment the alpha would give to his gamma and his stupid father.

“What do you mean alpha Khaos’s order? The alpha knows about this. Move.” Rhett threw a dagger look at Gayle.

“No one entered the room without the alpha’s order, if you wanted to come inside, you need to ask for the alpha’s permission first.”

Rhett stepped forward, he was standing head to head with Gayle now. Both of them were very tall and they were well built, thus if the fight broke out, no one could tell who would have the upper hand.

“Move aside, warrior or you will regret this.” Rhett narrowed his eyes. “You don’t know how important this matter is.”

Gayle smirked. “I told you, you can ask the alpha first. Go and ask him.”

The tension was high until Khaos appeared and all of them sighed in relief to see him there. The warriors took a step back to give a way to the alpha.

“The ritual will be postponed until she felt better,” Khaos said. He stared at the magic users behind Elijah and then put his attention on him. “Come back after three days.”

“What? We can’t do that, alpha!” Rhett protested. “We should do it tonight!”

However, Khaos grabbed his neck and slammed him against the wall, so hard Rhett felt like the air was knocked out of his lungs.

“Three days.” Khaos was very calm, but actually his calmness was more terrifying than his anger. “If she is fine after that, we will proceed from there.”

Zuri was not stable, adding more curses on her would only make her lose herself even more. She was so close of losing herself and this was the stage that they expected.

In the end, Zuri would reach the point, where she would be completely nothing but a Shell and once the beauty blood was completed, it was still unclear whether she could go back to become herself or not.

But, from the look of it, the prospect was not very promising. She might be still alive, but at what cost?

“Alpha… you are too attach to her,” Rhett said, he toned down his arrogance and tried to talk sense to Khaos. He could see that the attachment he felt, didn’t bring anything good for their plan. “You need to distance yourself from her.”

Slowly, Khaos let Rhett go. His expression didn’t change, though the tension was unbelievably high.

“Gayle, you are the gamma now.” Khaos took a step back, even though his words were directed to Gayle, but his eyes fixed on Rhett. “Announce this; Caiden will step down from his position as the gamma and you are the new gamma for the pack. Don’t let me down.”
