Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 74 – Not Just The Beta (Oriana & Slade) Novel Free Online by Jennifer Francis

All eyes were on him now. “That’s coercion, Slade.”

“I believed her,” he sighed “She didn’t tell me, kind of tried to hide it even. I saw things that made me curious and then believed she knew but was not saying anything because she wasn’t allowed to. I asked her, in the end. She nodded, even bit her lip and played she was nervous to tell me.” He told them.

“Nothing gets passed the band.” Hailey stated, “If she felt the sparks, that band would have turned blue regardless of if she scented you out or not.”

He saw them all look to Audrey. “Coercion is punishable by all Wolfen Laws.”

“I didn’t break any of the College rules, he willingly bedded me,” Audrey stated.

“Yes, we all saw it.” Patrick nodded “However, coercion is a Wolfen Law, mandated by the Wolfen King himself, it is not needed to be in place or mentioned here inside the college. It is punishable, and we will deal that out, harshly so.”

“What?” she half whispered, “I didn’t coerce him.” She rushed out “He’s not marked or mated, nothing happened.”

“But you tried to do that to him.” Gretta sighed, “also have ruined his good reputation as well, but managed to keep yours intact, and really it should be the other way around now, shouldn’t it?” She shook her head “On the shaming post for all to see, for now.” Gretta stated, “Until we get to the very bottom of this.”

“My father made me do it.” Audrey burst out. “To get attached to his pack.”

Slade watched her be removed from the office, and was walked himself out there, to see her being put on the shaming post out the front of her own dorm. Where Alpha Gretta announced to the rest of the students that Audrey had lied about being pregnant in order to get Slade to try and claim her as his Mate, prior to the full moon.

Ana

She and Maddie lay out on the jetty that full moon, looking up at the clear night sky, as the full moon rose, they were waiting for it to set. Had opted to be outside for it, there was a lovely breeze coming off the lake, she herself had not really wanted to be out there under the weight of it.

Maddie had convinced her it was a good thing, and she should get used to it. She was going to be feeling it from now on until the day she found a Mate. Had stated “Ana, you can’t actually hide from the full moon, you’ll feel it set wherever you are, I know. I’ve tried myself. Nothing will stop you from feeling it, believe you me. I’ve even tried to invent many things to stop that sensation.” She’d snorted a little, “Monitored myself, all my vitals, everything, I’ve yet to invent a full moon deterrent.”

“A full moon deterrent?” Ana had questioned her.

“Ah, I gotta dream big, right?” Maddie had grinned at her.

“More likely you’ll just tick Selena off, I imagine.” She’d smiled a little.

“Hehehe, maybe.” she’d laughed, fully amused now, “but come on, imagine it, if I could. All the wolves out there that would pay top dollar for it.”

“What?” she’d turned and looked at Maddie as they lay out there on that jetty, “Who in our world would buy that.”

“The mate-less of course. Those poor creatures would crave such a thing, so they don’t have to feel the setting of the moon every bloody month, for the rest of their lives and be reminded that they are mate-less.” She smiled. “And not just wolves either, all of the otherworldly creatures that feel the moon set.”

“I suppose you’ve got me on that one.” Ana nodded.

“Yep, and I think I’d be a billionaire overnight.” Maddie had chuckled “Then there are the others that would want it. The rejected might want it, and those that don’t want a Mate for whatever reason they have. Or some that have lost a Mate and don’t want another. There are many reasons I think that one might not want to feel the moon set.”

“You’ve really thought about this, I see.”

“I’m aiming for the stars.” Maddie chuckled softly and then looked right up at the moon as it set “Selena gave me my gift; I believe for a reason.” She pointed up at the moon. “Our

Goddess up there, she wants me to save her creatures from unnecessary pain… Don’t you, Selena?” she called out to the full moon “I hear you, and I will do it one day.”

Ana chuckled now herself, “Yeah or tick her off.”

“Hehehe, she can come and yell at me herself if I achieve it, I’ll give her one herself.”

“Why would she want one?” Ana asked curiously.

“Well, I imagine she’s lonely up there by herself. Maybe she makes us all suffer, because she too suffers, is in pain and feels the moon set as we do. Has no Mate, could be Mate-less herself.”

“You don’t know that.” Ana frowned, she doubted the moon goddess would be Mate-less.

“Ah, but you don’t know that I’m wrong, she did call me a clever one, smiled at me. She’s old, like ancient, could well have been the first she-wolf to suffer at the hands of a brute of a Mate, die from it. Have been reborn as the one to try and save us she-wolves from those horrible he-wolves.”
