Whether the alpha genuinely cherished her or not, he was already too attached to her.
“Ask him to come here.”
Gayle actually wanted to ask about his statement related to the gamma position, but he swallowed back and then left the room.
Not long after, it was Lucas, who opened the door. He walked in and the first thing he saw was Zuri. He heard what happened, even though not the detail of it. He didn’t even try to find out more than he already knew, because he didn’t want to be involved in this anymore.
Before his eyes was the lycan. The last lycan and this fact alone was enough to shake the entire realm that a lycan survived the massacre and he would definitely put the realm into chaos.
Lucan didn’t want to be part of it.
“I thought you will deceive me and will not give back my brother, but because you keep true to your word, I will keep mine as well.” Lucas frowned. He had thought about it carefully. “I held back one information about Rhett and Declan’s maternal family.” Lucan didn’t even start this conversation with a greeting. “Some of the members of their family are not shifter. They are magic user. Rhett and Declan’s aunt, their mother’s little sister, is a magic user. And they have a deep connection with king Amidas.”
Khaos lifted his head and looked at him with cold gaze. He was leaning his back against the headrest with Zuri cradled in his arms. Both her wrists and ankles were bandaged.
“That’s not only one,” Khaos pointed it out.
“Well, technically, it’s the same thing. So, it’s one.” Lucas shrugged his shoulders.
“I want you to find out what kind of connection between their family and king Amidas.”
“No.” Lucas waved his hand, as he declined the order. “I am out. Rhett has found the lycan and you two seem get along, so leave me out of it.”
Lucas was about to walk out of the room when Khaos’s next word stopped him in his track.
“Do you think you can hide from me? If I can find where you hid your little brother once, I can find him again.”
This threat infuriated Lucas greatly, he whipped his head and was ready to snap back at the alpha, but Khaos warned him before he could shout and wake Zuri up.
“You shouldn’t have left your little brother alone at the north gates. Something bad could happen to him.” Khaos didn’t even look at him, as he stared at Zuri’s bandage.
“You are an awful person, you know that?!” Lucas raised his voice nonetheless and this made Khaos fixed his eyes on him.
“If she woke up, I can assure you that you will not find your brother where you left him.”
Lucas gritted his teeth and balled his fists. His veins popped out on his forehead. He was very angry because once again, his brother was being threatened by this awful alpha.
“You are so low to threaten me with a kid,” Lucas said, but he lowered his voice, just in case Zuri woke up. The annoying part was; he believed it was not only an empty threat from Khaos. “You are even worse than Rhett.”
Khaos chuckled. “He is nothing compared to me,” he said proudly, as if it was a compliment, which annoyed Lucas even more. “Find out what their relation. I want the report as soon as possible.”
“There is no way I can give you a quick report, do you even know how many days it will take to get to Wolfdale kingdom? Especially during this winter?” Lucas mocked him. Of course, Khaos knew. The informant simply wanted to taunt the alpha.
“In that case, you can go now,” Khaos said simply. “What are you waiting for? Summer?”
Lucas glowered, he cussed him out, but there was no sound that came from his opened mouth, as he let out a stream of cussing word.
Yet, Khaos simply shifted his gaze away from him and when Lucas didn’t get anything from Khaos, he stormed out of the room and quickly looked for his brother.
Rian was a young boy around the age of eight. He used to be skinny, but after being held captive, he had plumpy cheek and clean clothes. It was very clear to see that he was well fed.
“Are we going now?” Rian asked his brother. He was sitting on a bench, swinging his legs. “Are we going to Greywolf pack house?”
Lucas pressed his lips when he heard that. “What? Do you like to be there?”
“Yes!” Rian answered happily. “I have two friends! They are twin! They look so much alike. Sometime I mistook them and also they have plenty toys. They also have a few wolves!”
“That bastard of alpha,” Lucas cussed under his breath again, annoyed with Khaos.
“Oh, there was a warrior, who came to me and give me that, he said to give it to you.”
Lucas saw the big pouch and he knew it was money.
The money was a lot and it would be enough to cover his journey and give his brother a nice place to stay, but he hated the fact that the alpha was right that he wouldn’t be able to hide his brother. He was going to find him anyway.
“Do you like it in Greywolf pack?” Lucas asked his brother. “Did they treat you well?”
Rian nodded his head vigorously. “Yes!” He then started to tell his brother how well they treated him. He would always go to the bed with full stomach and how he loved to play with the twin. He finally had friends that wouldn’t mock him for his disability.
As you could see, he was a little bit limping when he walked, because his legs were beaten when he was three years old and his left leg bent to weird angle, kids around his age would mock him for his strange way of walking. Rian didn’t have friend because they were more interested to laugh at him, instead of laughing with him.
“The twins said that I am their friend.” Rian then added. “And there was also an old woman named Nania, she was very kind, she gave me candies and extra cakes because she said I am too skinny.”
Lucas might cuss Khaos out for kidnapping his little brother, but from the look of it, Rian was having good time and they treated him well, they took care of him.
And his little brother was his soft spot.
“I am sad because I have to leave the pack, but I am happy because I meet you.” Rian was told that he was going to meet with his older brother, that was why he left the pack.
“Do you want to go back to that pack again?” Lucas was upset, but he thought if that annoying lycan wanted to use him, there was nothing wrong to use his resources, right?
“Yes!” Rian’s eyes lit up. “The warriors there have been making a tree house and I want to see that.”
It was not an easy decision for Lucas, though he knew it was for the best. “Fine. Let’s go back to that pack.” After all, he would come across the pack on his way to Wolfdale kingdom.
“Really?!” Rian asked enthusiastically, he was beaming when he hugged his brother. “Let’s go! Let’s go! I missed my friends!” He was so eager to go back to ‘be kidnapped’.

Zuri was in and out of consciousness, she would see her mother, Xaden or her father when she opened her eyes. She would hear voices in her head, getting louder and louder, but there was a moment where they were quieted down and she found herself was in Khaos’s arms.
She didn’t know whether it was real or it was only her crazy imagination, her stupid hallucination that played trick on her, but she wanted to relish the moment she had with him, even if it was only in her head.
Only on the fourth day that Zuri had clear mind.
She remembered to wake up to his scent, he was hugging her, her head was pressed against his chest, while out there the snow piled up on the windowsill and everything looked so white, which reminded her of Khaos’s white beast.
She had a new favorite color now, it was white. Grey and white. It was a good combination.
The room was rather cold because the fire had been put off, but Zuri felt warm because somehow, the lycan’s body heat was hotter than the werewolf. She snuggled against his chest and this stirred Khaos awake.
