Chapter 76 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“I love you too.” I say and kiss her one last time. “Let’s go.” I say to the girls and they grab their bags and walk up to me apprehensive. “Don’t forget that since we are marked and mated you can mindlink me. Let me know if anything happens.” I say to Maleena and she nods her head and looks down. Goddess I hate seeing her like this. My heart breaks a little when I see that I am causing sadness to dim those beautiful blue eyes. I tilt her head and kiss her on the forehead.

“I will be back by morning.” I say and with that I lead the girls to a secret exit down the hall. We step outside and the wind blows against us. We are out in the open, but the garden is a few feet away. Before we start to walk I pull out the masking spray and spray myself. The girls look at me in confusion.

“We need to mask our scents so the guards don’t smell us.” I whisper and they nod their heads. I quickly spray them and we head to the garden. We don’t fully enter the garden, only follow along the outside, allowing us for some coverage. Once we reach the edge of the garden I feel around. Just because I don’t see anybody doesn’t mean they are not hiding, or are blending in with their surroundings. Other than the girls I can feel three people near the entrance of the garden and two somewhere in the forest. After I feel that we can make it to the forest safely I turn to the girls.

“Run as fast as you can to the forest edge.” I whisper and they nod. I take a deep breath and nod to them, signaling it is time to run. They take off running like bats out of hell. Once they reach the edge of the forest I wait for a second then follow. After about 5 minutes of walking in the forest I can feel two other people warrily. I start to pick up the pace. The girls are following closely behind. After another 10 minutes we arrived at the border. I can still feel the two people and they are getting close to our position.

“Border.” I whisper as quietly as I can and the girls nod their heads warily. We continue walking for another 15 minutes and I stop. I don’t feel anybody around us, or even close to being around us.

“Okay. We are out of the territory and nobody is around.” I say to the girls. I see a small look of relief wash over their faces.

“Where are you taking us?” The short blond asks. If I didn’t know any better I would think she is 15. She can’t be due to the rules of the challenge stating that the women must be of mating age which is 18. The other girl looks like she might be 20. She is average she-wolf height with dark red hair. I can feel that they are frightened and what I am about to ask them to do will only make it worse.

“I need you to trust me. I know that you don’t know me and have no reason to trust me.. “Before I can finish the red head speaks up

“I trust you. You bear no hidden emotion of betrayal. What do you need us to do?” She said confidently. I see her put her hand on the blond shoulder and I know she is sending her calming energy. The red head is an empath. Nodding my head I continue with what I need them to do.

“You both need to break the pack bond.” I say and both of their faces become shocked. I am asking them to become rogues.

“But that means we will be rogues.” The short blond says and before I could say anything the red head speaks up.

“I, Halena Bright Conner, reject my title as Gamma and the pack of the Rising Phoenix. From this moment I am to be considered rogue.” She says and falls to her knees breathing deeply and gritting her teeth. The breaking of a pack bond is painful, it snaps all of your ties to each of the members at once. After a minute she stands up and dusts herself off, nodding to me and then looking at the blond, giving her a reassuring smile. The blond takes a deep breath.

“I, Bella Rose Woods, reject my title as Alpha and the pack of the Whispering trees. From this moment I am to be considered rogue.” She then falls to her knees and starts heaving. I hear her wolf growl and pant. Helana squats down and puts her hand on Balla’s shoulder. The gowling dies down but the pants don’t. After a few more seconds they both stand up and look at me expectantly. We all turn to hear wolves howling angrily in the distance. Their packs felt their rejection, they will be looking for them. They both turn back to me and they are worried.

“Let’s go.” I say and grab their bags from them and start to jog further away from the border. After 30 minutes of jogging I can tell that the girls are tired, so I slow the pace to walking. I hand Haleena the bag with water in it and she opens it and grabs one, handing it to Bella, then tries to hand me one. I decline and take the bag from her.

“Why are you helping us?” Bella asks me.

“Because you need help.” I say and she sighs.

“LeeAca promised she would keep me safe. I was there to challenge her and yet she still helped me.” Bella says and I see Haleena nod in agreement.

“Is she okay? They aren’t hurting her because she is the shadow right?” Bella asks.

“No they aren’t hurting her. The last challenger snuck in silver and wolfsbane.” I say and I hear both of the girls gasp.

“She. She’s dead?” Bella asks and my wolf growls a little.

“No, not dead, just hospitalized.” I say and I feel the relief wash over them.

“Good, she needs to stay alive. There are people out there who need her.” Haleena says. “I know if she didn’t save me now I would have been dead when I got home. Or even before we got home.” She says and then looks down. I see the sadness in her eyes, but choose not to say anything about it and continue walking.

After a few minuets Bella speak up. “Why?” She asks.

“I was mated to the Alpha’s son. Alpha forced his son to reject me and me to accept, but it still wasn’t enough. Alpha entered me into the Luna challenge, told me that if I won then I would have a new mate and if I lost I’d be dead. It would be a win – win for everybody. My parents even agreed with him. If I would have gone home the Alpha would have killed me to ensure there was no chance for me and his son to be together.” Haleena explained with unshed tears in her eyes. “What about you Bella? Why did you not choose to go home?” Haleena asks Bella.

“My family is extremely power hungry. They were pissed that I didn’t want to do the challenge. I just turned 18 last week. Instead of a party to find my mate my family forced me to train with the mated warriors and they hid me from the pack. They didn’t want me to find my mate, they wanted me to be queen. I knew that I made the right decision when I was being escorted out of the arena and I saw my mother leap for me with her claws extended. She started to call me a bunch of names then people spat on me as I walked back.” She says with sadness. I stay silent while the girls talk to each other sharing stories. It breaks my heart listening to them. After walking a few more minutes I feel three bodies about a quarter mile away in the direction we are heading. I stop and the girls proceed to stop with me. Looking back at me in confusion. I hold up my hand and mouth for them to stay quiet. They nod their heads and we proceed to walk forward, sure enough we smell three rogues walking around, one in their wolf form and the other two are in their human form. I gesture for the girls to stay put while I proceed forward. I feel for my hidden knives to make sure they are there. I got as close as I could before they could hear me and when I knew that I couldn’t get any closer I started to run towards them. Before any of them could have time to react I killed one of the human men. Then it all started. The wolf leapt at me with a force that I dodged, while dodging the wolf I kicked the other man in his family jewels to make sure he was down for a while. The wolf leapt for me again and again until I got the right angle and hopped on its back. It started to buck, but I held on. I got a good grip on its head and twisted until it fell limp. When I got up I was kicked in the face, causing me to fall down. The man that I kicked earlier stands above me laughing. I go to get up and before I can do so he stomps on my stomach, making me lose my breath. His foot is still on me, holding me down. I reached for my knife before he could stomp on me again and cut his heel. He immediately falls down next to me and is screaming in pain. I take my knife and slit his neck, blood gets all over me. I hear a roar come from behind me and when I look up I see a wolf mid air, jumping towards me. Then it falls to the ground in a ball of flames. My jaw falls open and I look to the right to see Bella is standing there, shaking. Her gift is fire. I get up and use a clean part of my shirt to clean my face.

Halena comes out from one of the nearby bushes and rushes to Bella. I can tell that she already cares for her.

“Let’s continue before anymore shows up.” I say and they nod and start to follow me once more. After another 30 minutes of walking we reach the border of the rogue camp. There are two guards stationed at the front gate. They see us and are ready to attack.

“I am here to see Alpha Jorian.” I say and they look at me and the girls suspiciously. After about 5 minutes I see a group of men walking towards us. Leading it is Alpha Jorian. When he sees me he smiles. He walks up to me and extends his hand, I take it and give it a firm shake.

“Alpha Jorian. I have two women who need a pack.” I say and he glances behind me to see the two girls. His eyes soften.

“Of course. All are welcome here.” He says and he turns around and bids us to follow him. He leads us to the women’s house he has.

“Ms. Shirley. We have two women in need of arrangements.” The alpha says to an older woman who is folding blankets. The woman looks up and smiles sweetly at us.

“Yes, Alpha.” She says and bows her head. “Girls follow me and I will show you to a room. You may clean up and I will fetch you some food.”
