“Hi uncle.” She then turns to Kyndra. “Mommy, Sarah.” She says with pleading eyes and I look over to see Kyndra chuckling and rolling her eyes.
“Sarah will be here in a second Kyn.” Kyndra says and when I stand up I feel my wolf start to pace again.
“What is going on? We found them.” I ask him.
“I don’t know, I feel it.” He says and before I could ask I see a blond haired beauty walking through the crowd making her way towards us. When she finally reaches us I can smell the chocolate cherries that I love. “Mate.” I say and I hear Kyndra giggle beside me. I walk up to her and I see that her smile falters as she looks down. I follow her gaze to a child holding her hand. The child looks just like her. She has a daughter. “WE have a daughter.” My wolf corrects me. I smile and see the girl run toward my niece. That must be Sarah. Now what is her mother’s name?
“Hello mate.” I say to her and I can see the worry in her eyes.
“Hello.” She says shy like.
“Oh for Goddess sake Nina don’t act shy. You never have been before so why start now?” Kyndra yells toward my mate. I smile.
“Nina. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman.” I say and I see her blush. “I am Garret.” I say and she repeats my name. That has my wolf purring.
“Are you going to reject me?” She asks and I feel anger.
“No! I would never do that. Why would you say such a horrendous thing?” I say and start to shake. WHY WOULD SHE THINK I WOULD REJECT HER?
“Because I have a child”. She says and I still feel my anger.
“That does not mean I will reject you. She is a beautiful child, just like her mother.” I say trying to sound loving, but it comes out harsh. I hear her exhale then she comes to hug me. As soon as we touch I feel the sparks all over, and I am calm. I inhaled her scent and held her.
“What the hell is going on?! Why are there 1000 people standing on the lawn?” I hear Beta Markus yell through my mindlink. I sigh and let go of my mate.
“They are here for LeeAca. To show the council that we support her.” I say and after a couple seconds he answers me.
“Holy sh*t.” Is all he says and I just chuckle.
Alarick’s POV
This meeting is pointless. We aren’t getting anywhere and we should have known it from the start. Half of the elders wish to punish LeeAca for her crimes and the others are torn. Some say to kill her, but since she is my second chance they don’t want to do that. Others say to lock her in the dungeons for the rest of her life. There is an option of torturing her. At this point I am just tired. Yes she is my mate, but she has lied to me this whole time. She knew I was her second chance mate and hid it from me. And as for her being the shadow, I am surprised. Everybody thought that the shadow was a man, nobody would have ever thought that the psychopathic, gruesome murderer was a woman. Women are incapable of killing so easily and make it so gruesome. That in itself is a red flag that even though she is my mate, she may need to be locked up for the rest of her life. We wouldn’t kill her.
“You BETTER NOT lock her up! SHE has done NOTHING wrong!” Onin yells and growls at me. I just sigh and don’t say anything back. He is on the side of our mate, always has been. I am trying, but it is hard. The bond pulls you one way and logic pulls you another. I can’t have a repeat of my first mate, I just can’t. Goddess what is up with me and crazy mates?
“ALARICK!” I hear Markus through mindlink.
“What is it? Are we under attack?!” I yell back as I stand up abruptly causing the elders to look my way.
“No. You need to look outside.” Markus answers and I huff in annoyance. This better be good. I walk over to the window and pull back the curtain to expose the outside. I gasp as I look out. There are wolves gathered around the castle. There are hundreds if not thousands. The elders come and look through other windows too. At that moment I see the majority of them start to unroll signs. I start to read them.
“The shadow saved me”
“She saved my baby”
“She saved my family”
“Ligera gave me a second chance”
“luz de la luna saved my niece” That one caught me off guard. Moonlight? People call her moon Light? The signs go on for miles, but all say the same thing, saved.
“What is the meaning of this?” One of the Elder’s spoke up.
“Well Jameson, if you can read you would be able to see that they are all here for LeeAca. Showing us that she is their savior.” Elder Janessa spoke up, making some of the elders gasp and some chuckle. I just smirk at her comment. She has been one of the only ones set on letting her take her place as my queen.
“I believe that we have all seen enough to continue our deliberation, don’t you think?” Elder Janessa looks at me and I nod.
“Yes Elder Janessa.” I say and start to head back to the round table. We all take our seats and it is quiet for a couple minutes, while we are all thinking.
“I can understand that she is a savior for some, but what about the ones she killed. They are not here to speak for themselves.” Elder Jameson asks, looking around. I see some of the elders nod in agreement.
“Maybe we should hear from people who claim that she saved them. Each one of us calls witnesses from our pack people that are here. If they are not here, call witnesses on a person of your choosing.” Elder Janessa speaks out and I see nods of agreement. The elders disperse and call the Alpha’s of their packs. There are 20 packs in total, but 13 Elders. Either the other pack elders died, or there was no one worthy enough to become an elder. Before I could Leave the room Elder Janessa stopped me.
