“Call your Gamma as a witness.” She says to me, I am shocked, Garret as a witness? Did she save him? I look at her questioningly and she smiles. “Trust me, my King. Call Gamma Garrett.” She says and I nod. I head downstairs and into the kitchen to grab me something to eat.
“Garret.” I call out through mindlink.
“Your highness.” He says back and I roll my eyes.
“I need you at the castle. The Elders have decided to call witnesses and I was told to call upon you.” I say. I don’t hear anything for a couple of seconds.
“Me?” Is all he asks.
“Yes.” I say and after a couple more seconds he answers.
“I will be right there, but I will be bringing some people.” He says.
“Okay. I will be in the meeting room. Just wait outside until you are called for questioning.” I say and end the mindlink. I got back to the meeting room and stared outside the window until all of the elders came back. One after another a wolf of their choice comes in and shares their story. Each one is different, but they are all the same. They were in trouble, most were in the process of being physically harmed, and LeeAca saved them. By the end some of the elder’s were in tears. Their stories were sad and some frightening. I walked outside to where Garret said he would be waiting. A room that is down the hall. When I walked into the room a strong smell slapped me in the face. Rogues. But not normal rogues. Immediately I went into fight mode. I look around to see Garret, with two women, a man, and two children. When I glance over to one of the women I recognise her.
“Kyndra.” I whisper in disbelief and she smiles shyly and the man beside her takes her hand.
“Are they ready for us?” Garret asks and in my confusion I nod my head. These are rogues, but they aren’t threatening, I mean Kyndra was like a little sister to me. Rogues. The thought again made me growl. I see that they all take a step back behind Garrett and one of the children starts crying. Shit I forgot there are children here. Garret is staring daggers at me.
“They are rogues, but they have no intention of harming us. Lucas and I made sure of that. If you would allow us to continue, you will figure out why they are here.” Garret growls out impatiently. I trust Garret, but rogues are touchy for me. I nod my head and turn out of the room impatiently. We all walk to the office and I walk in and take a seat. As soon as the others walk in I can tell the Elder’s are uncomfortable. Some are confused, some are angry, and Janessa is smiling.
“Your Highness. What is the meaning of this? Rogues? This is preposterous.” Elder Jameson speaks up. Rogues killed his daughter and her family. His anger is evident.
“Let them speak, Jameson. You will see.” Elder Janessa says and he shuts up, but his face is red. She looks at the group and smiles. “Please state your name, your pack, and the reason you are here to support LeeAca.” Janessa says and I hear a snort come from Elder Jameson. They’re rogues, they have no pack. Kyndra steps forward and I see the look of confusion on some of the Elder’s faces.
“My name is Kyndra Elvado, and I am from the Rogue Pack.” She says shakily. I see the man next to her rub her back in a comforting manner. Murmurs erupt from the Elders at her statement.
“Everyone shut up and listen!” Elder Janessa shoutes and everyone shuts up and turns their attention back to Kyndra. She takes a deep breath and continues.
“Three years ago, I went for a run around the castle border. I was on night patrol at the time and was waiting for my patrol buddy. I smelled them before they got to me. I only thought it was two rogues, but I was wrong. If it was two rogues I could have handled it. 5 Rogues came from the southside border and attacked me. I was able to kill one, but not the rest. Once I was injured enough to force my wolf transformation back to my human side they shifted back. I was still tired from fighting them off, but with four of them it was impossible. Three of them held me down while the other began to r*pe me.” She stopped and her mate came to her side, holding a sleeping child. He whispers in her ear and wipes the tears that are falling from her face. The room is silent. “They were all laughing and calling me names. Before the man could finish I heard a voice in my head telling me not to move. As soon as the voice ended the sentence the man that was inside of me fell silent and on top of me unmoving. The others let go of me and started screaming at somebody. I moved the dead man off of me and laid there watching as Ligera tore the men apart limb from limb. All I remembered was the green eyes. When she was done she came and helped me up. She told me to go home and I did. Fast forward to a year later. I was having trouble with my mate. After the incident I didn’t wish to have sex. The one time we did we created a beautiful daughter. But he started seeking pleasure elsewhere. After a year of hiding the pain he was causing me I had enough. I confronted him and he called me names. We got into a physical altercation and I ended up killing him. I took my daughter right after and ran. After a week of being rogue we were found by Ligera. She told me to follow her and I did. What else did I have to lose? She brought me to a camp and showed me inside. This camp was the Rogue Pack. Since then I have met my second chance mate, Jarod, who she also saved and was able to find people who helped me grow. Our pack was created by Ligera. She appointed a Beta she saved as Alpha and we are ran like a normal pack. 90% of our pack members consist of people Ligera has brought to us. We have over 300 people” She finishes and at that statement the elders gasp. My eyes even grow wide. LeeAca created a pack for the people she has saved. I feel a sense of pride wash over me.
“Why do you call her Ligera?” Elder Janessa speaks up.
“We call her Ligera because she was the light in the darkness for us. She isn’t the shadow creeping around the corner to kill us. She is the light that comes to save us.” The woman next to Garrett speaks up. I see Garrett looking at her in awe and I make the connection, she is his mate.I smile knowing that Garrett found his mate. I look in confusion when I see a child in the woman’s arms. Garrett never had a first mate, so he couldn’t be her second chance.
“What is your name child?” Janessa speaks up to the woman. The woman looks to Garrett nervously and he nods his head for support.
“My name is Nina Jettingson, from the rogue pack.” She says and bows her head a little.
“Nina, why are you here to support LeeAca?” Elder Janessa asks. I see Nina look up and to Garrett with sad eyes.
“She saved me from my pack.” She says and everyone is quiet, waiting for her to continue.
“I was a member of the Red Rose pack. My parents were of Alpha blood, but their mating was frowned upon within their packs. They seeked asylum with Red Rose and became warriors. When they died the Alpha’s son saw me as a threat, since I was born of Alpha blood. He thought I was there to steal his title. He imprisoned me and tortured me. Anybody who wanted a release, physical or sexual, was sent to me. One night I escaped, I don’t remember much from that night, only my wolf telling me we couldn’t shift because I was pregnant. Right before I crossed the border, warriors stopped me. They started beating me and before I could fall unconscious Ligera came and left them unconscious. I am not sure if they died or lived and I didn’t and still don’t care. She picked me up and everything went black. I woke up in the Rogue Pack’s hospital. Since then I received everything I needed. I even went to the human school and followed the pack doctor learning everything I could. I am now head nurse at the hospital.” She says, smiling a little. I see Garrett is fuming and she notices too. She grabs him around the waist with her free arm and lets him inhale her scent to calm down.
After he is calm Elder Jamison clears his throat.
“Young man. Why are you here to support LeeAca?” He asks which surprises me. I think he wants to hear from a man. We have only heard from one and it was a warrior stating that LeeAca saved him when he got caught by a group of rogues.
“My name is Jarod and I am from the Rogue Pack.” He says smiling to his mate. “I am here because Ligera saved me from myself. After my first chance mate rejected me. I didn’t feel the need to live. I went to the forest and hung myself. As soon as I jumped down from the tree a knife was thrown at the rope causing me to fall. She came up and smacked me. She told me that life is always worth living and if I wanted to be happy that she would help me. So I accepted my mate’s rejection and rejected my pack. She walked with me to the rogue pack and introduced me to the Alpha. Since then I have become the pack accountant and found my second chance.” He said, smiling down at Kyndra. “My story isn’t as impactful as some of the others. She has saved many men and women. Some of the men were captured by a rogue group and forced to do their bidding. Ligera saw the good in them and brought them to the pack. There are many stories all end in Ligera saving them and bringing them to the pack.” He says and I see many of the elders nodding.
“That is all you may return to your pack if you like.” I say and they bow and leave. After the door shut Elder Janessa speaks up.
“As we all have heard these are just some of the people LeeAca has saved. I vote that we spare her any punishment and allow as planned. She will be queen with her true mate and she can continue saving people as long as it is approved by the king.” Janessa says and some of the Elders nod in agreement.
“What about the rogue pack? They are a threat.” Elder Jamison says to which he receives daggers in the form of looks. “I vote to officially inaugurate them to the kingdom. They may continue living the way they do and receiving rescues, but they will be an official pack.” He says, which surprises me and I see Elder Janessa smile. We then go with the voting and it is unanimous. LeeAca will not be punished as long as from here on out she has approval from me to interject in pack relations. When it comes to rogues she does not need approval. The rogue pack will be accepted as a pack as long as they choose to be loyal to the crown. They won’t need to change a thing. I look at the clock and see that it is already 2:00. We started the deliberation at 7:00 this morning.
“Alarick. She’s awake.” I hear Garrett through the mind link.
LeeAca’s POV
It’s dark, but I feel so many emotions. Too many for comfort. My body aches and my eyelids feel heavy. I try to open them, but they won’t. I lie there trying to remember what happened and where I could be. Once the memories come flooding into me I shoot up and open my eyes. The room is dim, but I can see that I am in a hospital room. I see my brother, sister, and father sitting in the room with me.
