Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 82 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

There was one thing that was clear here; She was suicidal now.

She had cut herself before and now it became more dangerous as they had inflicted more curses on her. Letting her go probably was not the best option when you saw this progress on her mental state.

Khaos cradled her in his arms, rubbing his palms up and down her body to keep her warm until Gayle returned with clean dress.

“It’s quiet down there,” Zuri said in small voice, which was a little bit trembling because she was so cold. “I like it. I should take the ship, I guess.”

“Are you going to jump from there?”

Zuri didn’t answer the question, she changed the topic, as if she couldn’t focus on one thing. “You said you are not going to leave me.”

“I don’t leave you.”

“But, you ask me to leave you.” Zuri closed her eyes. “I don’t want to leave. I am used to the pain. My fault for complaining, so don’t tell me to leave. I have nowhere to go and I have no one to hold me like this. I am crazy. I know. But, I want to be with you. Attachment or not, or whatever you want to call it, I want to be with you.”

And that was it. That was her truth.

“Let’s finish this beauty blood and I will not be in pain anymore.”

Meanwhile, at the pier, Caiden was sitting on a small boat, hugging the white wolf to warm himself, as he stared at the big ship not too far from there.

“I think it’s only us two, baby.” Caiden shifted his attention to the white wolf. “I don’t understand why she named you Shadow. I like fluffy more.” He sighed and stared at the sea again. Waiting was a boring activity.

For the next several days, Zuri fell sick. She would see things and started to scream in her sleep. The voices and the hallucinations did not only haunt her in her conscious moment, but also in her nightmare.

There was time when she couldn’t differentiate whether it was her hallucination or reality. She clawed Rhett and almost killed Elijah, which made thing difficult for them to control her because the alpha rejected their suggestion to chain her with silver chain.

A week later, it was only Khaos, who could get closer to her without risking his life.

Whether Zuri was influenced by her hallucination or not, she restrained herself from hurting him. She had hurt him before and she regretted it.

There was one particular night where she was very cold, no matter how many blankets that threw to her and how warm the room, she would feel the cold. Her whole body was trembling and she would cry because the coldness felt like needles that pricked her skin and it reminded her of her father’s needles.

Khaos would be there to hug her. He didn’t say anything, as he held her close to him, bearing the heat, as he was sweating.

But, there would be night where Zuri felt very hot, as if she was being burned alive and she would go out to lay down on the snow naked.

During this time, Khaos would clear the area, so no one would see her like this. He stayed with her, sitting on the cold, snowy ground, staring at her naked body. She didn’t gain weight, if anything, she became even more skinnier.

And a week later, the royal entourage that was led by the king arrived, people made a commotion when they saw the royal banner.

Khaos had received the report about his visit, a week ago. But, it was not like him to come personally. The idea must not come from him or his royal beta.

“Princess Rose,” Zuri said, as she nestled in Khaos’s arms. She looked pale, but she got slightly better now.

Glenda increased the dosage of her medicine, which made her sluggish. You would often find her stared at the distance blankly and talk to herself.

“She has a secret guild under different name too, just like you.” Zuri caressed Khaos face, as they laid down on the bed, she just vomited her lunch and felt very weak.

Twelve curses more to go before this misery ended. Or before it ended her life.

“Do you know that?” Khaos raised his brows, he caressed her back. She had been telling him that her back hurt. Actually, all of her bones were in pain.

“I happened to know about it accidentally when I closed the deal for the pack three years ago.” But only recently she remembered that again. “You can deal with the king, I will deal with her.”

“Are we sharing responsibility now?” Khaos pinched her chin and lifted her head, so he could stare into her eyes.

Zuri paused for a while. She stared at him. The way she looked at him was hard to describe. Khaos didn’t know what was in her head and he would love to be able to read her mind.

“I promise to help you to achieve your goal, right? I have given up my life for you. Everything. What else I will not give it to you?”

Khaos frowned, the statement didn’t sound right.

“I chose to stay. I know the consequences.” Zuri kissed Khaos’s forehead like he used to do to her. “But, if I can turn back time. I will choose different path. I wish we never meet with each other. I wish my brother didn’t put the curse on me that resulted for me to have an attachment with you. I hope things will be different.”

Khaos pressed his lips. His grey eyes turned slightly darker. This relationship… if you could call this as a relationship at all, was pretty messed up.

“You owe me a big favor for what I do for you, Khaos. Can I ask you one thing?”

Zuri had thought about it a few times and she was sure this was what she wanted. It was so hard to come up with this decision amidst the vile voices that echoed in her head.

“Anything.”

“If after I completed the beauty blood and I survived. I want them to erase my memories about you and I don’t want you to look for me. I want to forget about everything. I want to forget about the pain and the past. I don’t want you in my life anymore.”

Once the beauty blood was completed, the curses would disappear too and Zuri would be free from the pain.

“Will you do it for me?”

Khaos didn’t immediately answer her question, but in the end, he nodded. He kissed her forehead. “I will.”

“Thank you.” Zuri then added. “Make Rhett to stay away from me too. I only want to live with Shadow.”

“I thought you don’t like the wolf.”

“The wolf is the only creature that doesn’t hurt me. I like him now.”

Two days later, king Dacre arrived at the front gates, people who gathered them to get their food distribution knelt down in front of their sovereign.

And at the end of the side of the road, Khaos stood with Zuri beside him. Rhett and the other people were standing behind them.

Everyone kept looking back and forth between the king and the alpha, they wondered what would happen.

Meanwhile, Dacre walked toward Khaos with Rose followed slightly behind him. She dressed very simple without any accessory on her. Her white dress matched the color of the cloak that she was wearing and she smiled at the people around her softly.

The sight of princess Rose made Zuri narrowed her eyes. She knew what game that this woman was playing and she was right.

Princess Rose actually approached a young little girl and handed her a pouch of candy. “Here, share it with your friend,” she said graciously.

The little girl’s big eyes lit up when she received such treat and the mother thanked her profusely. It was very subtle and her action might not mean anything important, but it set the precedent of how she and Dacre would handle the situation here.
